whats the difference between the two?everyone keeps implying the ult thing is tougher.i dont keep up with the ult. books so i have no clue. i do know when the ult. books first came out an interview with the ult. writers said the characters strengths werent up to the regular characters.cap was the only one who got a strength boost.i guess it all comes back to the writers.

No real major difference except thing is much stronger, heavier, and slightly taller in the ultimate universe. Strong enough to take out ultimate hulk, iirc (ultimate power), and zombie hulk.

Also, the ultimate universe is all sorts of different from the 616 universe as many characters are stronger, more agile, or have more versatile powers than their mainstream counterpart.

i think he knocked him out with the invisable womans help.the same move was used in a old ff issue.still didnt know he was bigger in the ult world.

I cant speak for ultimate thing (that's one series I havent read much) but Cap is in the enhanced human levels (close to spider-man) and the hulk is less strong, but still just about the strongest thing around. I think they are just trying to avoid silver age style feats of strenght to go with the 'realism' of the universe.

Hulk is still pretty strong considering he's taken on several teams at the same time, so *shrugs* (no, he hasn't hit maximum anger/strength yet). Though, iirc, the strongest character in the ultimate universe that's not cosmic used to be Namor...that may have changed since the cosmic characters got introduced. Thing is in the top 8...most likely. Handbooks used to be useful for stuff like this, heh.

Does being made of rocks make you strong?

Ultimate Thing is 7'5'' compared to 616 Thing who is 6'. Ultimate Thing weighs 1650lbs and 616 Thing weighs 500lbs. Ultimate Thing can take out 616 Thing any day of the week, which is why I love Ultimate Thing. I always thought that Thing was hulk-lite, but that's not really the case in universe 616, but it sure is in the Ultimate universe. Make mine Ultimate!

I hope so, otherwise one would be unable to move.

Well, considering 616 Thing was hit by cosmic rays and his whole body went through a transformation, but somehow kept his weight/strength proportionate, i'd say so. :P

Ultimate thing got a boost of strength so it wasn't just his rocky transformation that allowed him to move around his heavy hide. Speaking of strength, this was recently explored with Ultimate Colossus. I'll give you the quote as I remember it,

Colossus: "Just because I have the power to change into Steel doesn't mean I get super strength."

So, gaining one power doesn't mean they automatically gain the other. This has been useless information with prev, plz tune in again.
