How did I break the keyframes?

I'm trying to create something that looks like this:



The finished product will be Kal El of Thanagar.

Moving the parts doesn't work; they don't move with the figure. I copied them off another TV mesh and put hem in place. Afterward, it wouldn't move anymore. I intend to try again, but does anyone know what I did to mess up the animations?
