How do add a skin/extras to a newly hexed mesh

First of all, I am not planning on releasing anything as of yet I am very new to hexing, keyframes and skinning, but I love the game of Freedom alot.  Due to lack of response to some of my questions ( understandable, because I have been apart of artistic communities before) I decided to try my hand at  hexing or meshing by downloading nifscope.

I am using ink's New Angel mesh and renegades hour man mesh because I am attempting two things.  Removing the hair from the new angel mesh (already done) Adding the hour man 3 hood to the new angel mesh (done but with problems I am missing the inside of the hood and it gives floating separtining glow because of the missing piece)  Any time I try to add said piece is move wildy to either the top of the mesh or the bottom.  Secondly I am attempting to add middle to the wings created to make almost an cape effect with the wings ( not as important but I would like to try). If any one has ideas for either of these tasks I will appreciate any guidance.

However I told you all of that to ask this question.  How do you rename parts of of extras in order to skin them separtely. Such as both of the characters have extra additions called "extras" but I need both files to skin the mesh separatly.  I know that I may be confusing but I am new to this and am not sure I if I have the jargon correct.  Thank you all for your time and continue to create the wonder works that you have mastered.

just rename the textures and it should be great. Then you can have extras and extras2 and skin them seperatly.
