photoshop help?

for some reason my photoshop is now messing up, when i use my eye dropper tool to select a colour, even though i'm hitting the left click on the mouse, the selected colour always get stored as the background colour

ie my two colour box are set with black in the foreground and white in the background i move the eye dropper to a red and the background changes to red where as the foreground stays black

this is extremley werid

Check to make sure your Alt key isn't stuck.  Blow out dirt from it to be sure.  Alt-left click switches background instead of foreground.

that wasnt the problem, but its seems to be fixxed now i clicked on a colour on the swatchs which became the foreground colour now everything seems to be back to normal
