Ok, first off I am FAR more versed in  :ff: than  :ffvstr: so forgive the stupidity of all of this if you are a  :ffvstr: expert...

In playing around with hero files and assigning energy costs to powers, i have noticed a few things...

I make a punch for instance cost low energy and in the rumble room it shows up requiring none.  Now being studious and observant, I DID notice that the character in question has an 8 energy and if I am not mistaken the eng stat in  :ffvstr: is all about energy recharge not amount.  SO... am i correct in assuming that the character recharges ebergy so fast that the 'low' energy cost is essentially a non-factor?

If so, I have so re working to do here....

Are you using FFX in building these herofiles? I ask because this sounds like the "overspend with risk of stun" attribute that you can turn on/off in ffx control centre.

wickerman

thanks!!  that did the trick,  but now i have a new issue.

I went into ffxedit and swapped rage to mentaldamage and it has no effect.  I chose the character under the correct DATA FOLDER and hit save afterwards, but no dice?

any ideas?

From my understanding, state-swaps are a little random at times, but make sure you have the correct mod loaded when doing state swaps.

Also, is this for a custom character or a built in character?

Also, if there were any errors, I'm pretty sure the problem showed up in one of the log files, so check em out and maybe check the ffx thread in the mods forum.

Make sure the power you're trying to use the state-swap with is either melee, projectile or beam.

wickerman

AH!  thanks blitz!  It was a direct.. I'll change it and see!

wickerman

ok yet another question...

i got the swap to work just fine - the problem is I am doing TONs of damage - like 60pts per shot on a high magnitude rage swap beam attack.  Now obviously  toning it down to low or very low would be something, but on high I am only effective 52% of the time as it is....  is their a code tweak to tone down the damage?

Lunarman

the chance of it succeeeding is based on the magnitude. The damage dealt is based on the power you swap for. The weakest are things like energy drain and the most powerful is hypnosis. There's a list in the FFX manual.

wickerman

must have missed that lunarman - i'll check it...  thanks!
