I want to see a Ghostbusters game, most likely using the Halo Engine.

You may get at least half your wish soon enough.

1. A proper sequel to Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars. Among my absolute favourite video games of all time, adding more plot and depth than the Super Mario series has arguably ever had, while creating some darn good characters who sadly havn't been seen since. You KNOW a Gamecube or Wii Mario RPG could have some really great stuff in it, such as full cinematic and voice acting.

2. Max Payne 3.  Really enjoyed the narrative, graphic novel-inspired noir style of the first two games, I'd probably scoop up a third game if they made it, though they did kill off a good deal of the main characters.

I once kept a Super Nes rented overdue for almost a week because of Mario RPG. I always hated those kind of games, but that one I got addicted too. Had to take it back before I finished though, 20 bucks a day late fees wasn't pretty. Think that game cost me over a hundred bucks, heh.

Shocker: do you not count Mario and Luigi Superstar/Partners in Time as sequels to Mario RPG?

UnfluffyBunny

a mech based mmorpg, no classes, character evolves to match how you train them and what mech parts you use. featuring different alliances, and interaction outside of the mech aswell as inside

No, though I am aware of the Geno cameo in one of them. Havn't played them to be honest, but I got the impression they were more inspired by the Paper Mario games than anything else. I did get the impression they were closer to Mario RPG than the Paper Mario games as at least one of them used a new set of villains instead of just using Koopa (Mario RPG did the same thing). But what I loved about Mario RPG was the diverse party, including some classics (Bowser was actually one of my favourites, and he worked suprisingly well as an ally) and some new characters. Paper Mario was originally given the tentative title Mario RPG 2, and I was angry at it's lazy idea of using desposable minions as your party members (Gombas and Koopa Troopas). Mario and Luigi as a party is okey, but I would have liked something more Final Fantasy-ish. I had a little more hope now that Square Soft does release FF games on Nintendo systems again these days that a proper Mario RPG would be made, but I don't think it's likely.

I had a similar story about how I got the game. Originally I rented it, and liked it so much I wanted to rent it again, but the local place I rented from kept getting all rented out so I finally ended up buying it retail at Toy's R' Us, for 80 dollars if memory serves, so I was in a similar boat as you. Actually, I'd pay three times that amount, that's how much I loved that game. Probably played it at least a dozen times all the way through when I was younger.

Hmm.....I have a hypothetical question for all and sundry.  And I DO mean hypothetical.  Would anyone be interested in a free-roam Batman version of Patriot City?  Reading this thread got me thinking about it.  I wouldn't include it in the first release of DCU, but if there is a lot of interest, I might combine my Batman 'comics' with a free-roam build one day, and perhaps release updates as time goes by.  I know it's hardly spider-man 2 meets Batman like we all want, but would anyone be interested?

I'm actually surprised no one's developed a current-gen GI Joe game yet. The license is the perfect merchandising property... you could design a squad-based tactical shooter a lá  Ghost Recon or even an RTS... think about it, you could have different factions: GI Joe, Cobra, Destro's Iron Grenadiers, Dreadnoks, Oktober Guard, special units, tactics, weapons, and vehicles available only to certain factions: for example, Iron Grenadiers use resources more efficiently to create weapons and vehicles (due to their ties to Destro's weapons industry company), Cobra can recruit mercenary units to bolster their ranks, Dreadnoks are more mobile in certain terrain (swamps, urban areas) and can loot civilian structures for resources.

ZD....that's actually something I've thought a lot about.  My ideal JOE game would be something along the lines of Jagged Alliance 2, but real time, and with a very advanced AI for your troops.  Actually, I heard there was a WWII game that came out not too long ago that was something like this.  Anyroad, you'd have the weapons and skill detail that you find in a JA2, but your squads would preform better, and the AI would use higher level tactics/ you would get access to better maneuvers if you had officers like Hawk or Stalker in the group.......man...I have spent many an hour thinking just how I'd design it, and yes, it is odd that they haven't done jack with it.

It probably has something to do with Hasbro not wanting to see any of its characters "die" in any media (comics, cartoons, games). It was six years before Hasbro allowed Larry Hama to kill off any of the GI Joe characters from a roster that numbered in the hundreds, and even then, he was only allowed to kill off characters that weren't being planned for re-releases down the line. Also, Hasbro has its own electronic games and software division (mostly "kiddie" toys and games), so it's possible that they're keeping the license for themselves to develop sometime down the line.

Well, EA has announced at the San Diego Comicon that its Chicago team will be working on a new Marvel fighting game for the PS3 and XBox 360. Here's the article. It'll be made by the same team that worked on the Fight Night Round 3 boxing game (pretty good) and the Def Jam: ICON fighting game (ambitious and innovative, but ultimately disappointing). For me, the most interesting thing mentioned in the article was the following:

Quote[producer Kudo Tsunoda] also revealed that characters will be balanced in a fashion true to their Marvel Comics heritage, not simply "using three dials to balance them out." I assume that means that, in a one on one fight, Spider-Man would probably get his arse handed to him in a fight with the Hulk, but taking advantage of his surroundings will determine who is more powerful. "Debris", he says, "will need to be used in creative ways."
