Ok, so its mostly easy to make up a hero file for someone like Superman. He flies, is really strong, etc. But what about guys who arent your average hero? How would you make someone like say, Perry White into a viable hero? Or Jimmy Olsen?

Or even more, like a celebrity or comedian?

Put your odd hero files here.

Just for fun, and whatnot.

I have nothing against the notion. But, I think the problem people run into is that they want every character to be somehow "competitive" with other heroes. But the reality is that Perry White would be a 2000 CP character maybe and he wouldn't be able to go toe-to-toe with what most people think of as superheroes or superpowered baddies.

Of course the same effect (some sort of odd egalitarian instinct) comes into play with other heroes, too. E.g., you can't write a reasonable HERO file where Batman or Spider-Man can take on Superman or Galactus. And, I don't care that it "actually happened" in Tales of Unlikelihood #136; cases of screwball writing or exceptional circumstance (the character spent weeks preparing for one encounter, etc.) aren't a good reference for most heroes. The key is to try and make a fun hero who can do well in realistic encounters that he might face in the comics and then try to pit him against those circumstances in the game.

That's why it's tough to do a Perry White that you would actually want to play. He is a good character in the comics, but the game is very combat-oriented and a normal Perry (no weapons) really couldn't take on even a typical FF Gun Thug without extraordinary luck, which is something we see quite often in the comics, but which isn't really right to make a normal part of a HERO file.

Just my $0.02.

You put the Perry White skin on a hex of one of those western meshes where he has a lit cigarette.   You hex away the western gear like the hat and gun, and hex the cigarette until it's larger, like a cigar.

Then you can give Perry a 10 STR and Flight, and invulnerability and whatever other powers he got from smoking his super cigars.

I love that old Pre-Crisis stuff.

Or put perry white on the recent Nick Fury mesh, which rocks really hard btw.

Give Jimmy some crappy stats... but also a jet pack. Maybe a super stretchy active defense. And how about shapeshifter into a werewolf or blob of jelly or turtle. And summoner, for his wrist watch so he can call Superman at any time. Etc etc etc.

yell0w_lantern

Wasn't Jimmy 'Elastic Lad' for a little while?

HumanTon

Old school Jimmy could be a blast to play. Not because of his stats--he'd be all 3s down the line. But you could have some great powers and FFX attributes:

Camera Flash: a direct Blind attack.
Befuddle: small area Mental Blank. Jimmy tries something so incredibly goofy that it confuses the opposition!
Inane Remark: a direct Taunt attack. Jimmy says something stupid (again)
Timid: Jimmy can get a little flustered, but ....
Accidental Change: when Jimmy gets panicked he's apt to transform into a werewolf or a giant turtle or something.
Divine Intervention: Finally, when Jimmy gets in too much trouble, Superman flies in to save the day.

UnkoMan

Yeah, Divine Intervention! That's way better than summoner.

Oh man, I totally have to make this now.

i made a jimmy olsen mesh, with old fashioned huge camera.

i'm interested in the planning ahead powers that batman has, and how to implement them in ff.  i'm sort of using trick shot for his batarangs, and utility belt.
what sort of custom powers would the attribute 'batcave' give him?  i'm thinking he could use it once per mission, it would summon the batmobile and he would zoom off and come back with one of 6 powers.

also, for normal ppl, did anyone see gordon in batman year one?  he was a tough buzzard.  and doesn't alfred know judo?

edit:actually i think jimmy's camera would 'mind blank' ppl, while they are posing.

Gordon would be any bit as tough as any old fasioned two fisted detective. And Alfred is a great healer, so you could give him a healing power on a very slow animation.

Aunt May would have 'pheremones: seniour citizen' attribute, making Doc Ock and Vulture with a seniour citizen tag in their hero file.

That's not quite fair Cat, they were talking about Batman's Batcave and such as well a bit....

I'm really behind on new mesh releases.  Comes from being away.
