Expert Help Needed

Redbackdeath hexed a mesh for my dark wolf original character.  A beatiful mesh that captures the character perfectly.  The mesh is bases on tommy-boys batman_beyond and azreal mesh. 
I recieved the mesh and attempted to use it in both my character tool (Version 2) and  ffvstr it caused a crash for both programs.  I converted the mesh and the message said it changed 52 nodes then froze and crashed.  Anyone have any ideas how to fix this?  I would greatly appreciate it.  I am desparate, Death did a fantastic job, and I want to a) build a new skin for this character and b) actually be able to use it in game.  Would anyone be willing to help me toy around with the mesh to try and fix the problem.
