Problems with FFX (at least I think its with FFX)

Just fired up FFv3R again for larks and I seem to be having problems with the Rumble Room in the FFX version of my game.  I'm badly out of date when it comes to the latest developments in FFX and so I thought I'd post it here and see if anyone recognises the symptoms my computer is displaying.

When I load up the Rumble Room in FFX and play one of the scripted missions (eg an instant action or beat the clock mission), the enemies just don't spawn at all.  If I play the normal battle in the rumble room setting where I hand pick the enemies they spawn okay though.

Also, most of the time it doesn't seem to be picking up FFX properly, so a character with a Judo Throw attack for example will only Mental Blank the target, and someyimes it allows him to fly using his Trapeze attribute, but sometimes it doesn't.  I am running it with the Control Centre on at the time and it is set up with the attack swap for this character.

I cheked the file structure and I noticed that all of the instant action and beat the clock missions are in the skirmish directory in FFX rather than in a skirmish directory in FFv3R itself, although its been a while since I've looked at the file structure so maybe this is normal(?).

The oddest part though is that it was working fine yesterday and I've not changed anything, or downloaded or installed anything since.  Wierd huh?  Any help greafully received.

I don't recall which RR files have to be where, so someone else may recognize that as a problem (or as not a problem).

Just a quick reminder that the game only reads in the HERO files once. After that, it assumes what it has in memory is the up-to-date character. That's also generally true of the built-in heroes it reads from the DAT files.) So, if you need to use the FFX Control Centre to brand a new character, you have to restart the game for it the game to know about the branding. Also, if you brand a character while the game is running and then make a change to the character in the in-game character editor, the branding will be overwritten and you'll have to run the CC again when you quit the game.

Once the character is branded, you can start the game and make other changes to the character via the in-game editor or via the CC and not worry about branding again or restarting the game, although changes made via CC in the middle of a mission (campaign or RR session) won't take until you restart that mission.

I'm sure you know all that but, if it's been a while, I figured it was worth a reminded and you never know when someone new will look at a thread.

The other thing that you probably also already know is that you have to run the RR's Power ID generator for those swaps to work properly. Double check that you've done that.

Other than that, the first suggestion is always to post your script.log from one of the sessions where things weren't working. That's the single best window we have into what's going on.

Thank you very kindly Stumpy, the problem was indeed that I hadn't run the ID generator for these new characters.  Now I have run it and the FFX's are working beautifully!

It also seems to have fixed the spawning problem I was having, although I can't even guess why that should be.  It was working fine before, then not working yesterday and working fine today.  If it recurs I'll post the script.log but for now all is well in Patriot City!
