DC plans to kill Bruce Wayne. What kind of strange time travel or change in the continuity they'll include to let them live if needed?

Where is DC going? Why they just can't try to write good stories? I wanted to see an old Bruce Wayne doing the things he did in Dark Knight. Well, it seems I won't be able to.

I REALLY pray they don't go through with this.
Anyone else feel like they are copying Marvel when they killed off Cap?

This is outrageous. It was very very bad news that they want to kill J'Onn, but this... this is far beyond. Is DC aware of what are they doing? Do they know that the drama behind Bruce Wayne is Batman? Are they aware that Batman is the real Bruce Wayne's personality?

I do know that they just want to sell more comics. Cap is dead, ok we have already killed Barry Allen, Supes, who else can we kill?Hmmm... ok! Let's kill MM and Bruce Wayne! Two instead of one! Why? Well, we need to sell more comics.

Look at Hal Jordan. They wrote an incredibly bad plot to make him a good guy again, just because they knew they were wrong from the very beginning when they turned him into Parallax. They must said: 'Ok, this is bad but we must leave it as it is because if we try to change it, it'll be even worse.' Of course they did exactly the opposite.

I can think more than ten characters with overlapping or unknown origins because of this changing-the-continuity histeria. Power Girl, Hawkman and Hawkgirl, Sentinel, Superman... I don't think I'm stupid, but honestly I can't follow the DC continuity.

Someone must stop this. I read again V for Vendetta and Dark Knight this last week. Those were GREAT comics. Please DC, change your heading. Get back to the good story telling and forget about killing people just because it worked once.

Hmm..... from the previews I just read on that site, I don't think Batman is really going to die. Remember, there supposedly are 3 Batmen and Bat Mite. Any one of those could go.

Some comics related sites say that they're planning to kill Bruce Wayne, becoming the new Batman... Jason Todd!

Sorry for the link, it's in spanish:

Eh, whatever. Even if they do kill him, it won't stick. He'll be back. It's just another silly gimmick, like Superman's death, Spider-Man's unmasking (even I was surprised how quickly they undid that one), etc.

Pyroclasm

Hmmm...Reminds me of the "big event" in which Batman had his back broken.  "Oh noes!  Batman will never walk again!  OMG, they're destroying the character!  They're replacing him with some dude named Azrael?  I'll never read batman again!"
Batman s DC's bread & butter.  Even if they "killed" him off, it will not stick.  He'll be back broodier than ever.

BentonGrey

Bruce Timm, I think I'll hang out in your perfect Bat-world.

lmalonsof

Oh yes, I agree. He'll be back. What are they going to do to bring him back? I don't know what, but they will.

When they killed Barry Allen they said there were no more interesting stories to tell about him (said in the same website where you can read about the J'Onn's dead), that's why they thought it was interesting to kill that character and not another one. Why are they going to kill Bruce Wayne. Because they will sell more comics. They don't care about the story, the character, the continuity of their own universe...

Previsionary

I thought this was a rumor that was dispelled awhile ago. I haven't been keeping up, but usually, all these big changes don't stick very long.

Pyro, is it even possible for Batman to be more broody than he already is? :P

UnfluffyBunny

ignoring the fact that this was to my knowledge dispelled, things like this REALLY shouldnt have a spoiler in the title, incase... you know... you might... SPOIL someone's reading?

bat1987

Nah they won`t do it! Right?  :(

And to replace him with a character that was voted to be killed in the first place? Very, very wrong.
Besides, The Dark Knight comes out this year with Bruce as Batman. So it would be bad for marketing as well.
And the title says RIP, doesn`t mean that Bruce dies.

If this happens, (you never know with Didio in charge) I`ll stop buying Batman comics for sure. I mean he`s an icon, one of the three most recognizable heroes worldwide (the other two being spidey and supes). It just wouldn`t be the same without Bruce. I mean u need one hell of a writer to pull this of properly, since Batman has one of the biggest supporting cast and rogues galleries in comics, Batman`s relation with every one of them will have to be changed if u put a new guy in the suit!

Bottom line- bad,bad idea

DC will never permanently kill Bruce Wayne. He's too iconic. But if Morrison thinks he has a good story to tell that requires Batman to die to do it, then I see no problem. Chances are it will end with Bruce fine anyway.

That said if this is Didio's latest crazy scheme then yawn. I haven't been impressed with anything from DC since Infinite Crisis ended. Well except probably the Sinestro Corps storyline. That sounds quite interesting.

Actually the Bat mythos is uniquely designed for a death or retirement of Bruce Wayne. With characters like Dick, Jason, Tim, Damien and the other sidekicks and allies he's had the series could continue to be as interesting or even more so. But this is all dependent on execution.

That said I have no particular interest in seeing Wayne die. He's one of my favorite characters and honestly I think DC would drop the ball on any story of this type.

Didn't this rumor make the rounds a couple of months ago, and get dispelled then?  I'm sure I read that somewhere...

BWPS

Perhaps next to the Wayne Manor, loud teenagers move in and play loud music and party at all hours. Poor Bruce has a very busy schedule with Batmanning and can't catch a wink to save his life. To rectify this situation, Bats investigates and finds the teenagers are some kind of (super?)-villains and he defeats them with bat-skills. At the end of the story-arc, Bruce Wayne lies down and finally Rests In Peace.

Wow... so Bruce is going six feet under to be replaced by a former dead sidekick.  All thats missing is the new costume design by Alex Ross and giving him a gun.

I suppose this is the long running rumor having to do with Batman being a New God after death or what not.

Shrugs.

Sad.  Plain and simple.

I wouldn't mind the Lazarus Pit as much, since thats been part of other stories set in the future as to how he does survive as long.... but I still don't like it --- Bats is crazy enough.  Does he really need the Lazarus Pitt to help push him any further?

Same old, same old.  Marketing all together.  Give it a year and all will be back to status quo.

I'm just tired of all the "shock" and "event" stories and maxi-series and what not.

This is getting to be almost as bad as the 90s and gimmick covers.

DMenacer

There was a Batman R.I.P. comic before and in it Batman got so seriously injured that he allowed the villains to believe that he was dead. After he healed, he went after all of the villains who had thought he had died and started operating in the open. During this this crime did get worse in Gothan and many villains started fighting againest each other for control of the city. But in the end Batman came back and showed all who really ran Gothan. I believe you will have to wait at least of couple of months after his death before you can find out if his is really dead or not.

The Hitman

Meh. In my opinion, this'll give a few interesting stories, enrage a few fanboys, and when the shock has passed, Bruce'll pop back up. This isn't going to be perminant, especially with that dang movie coming out so soon.

No one stays dead in comics. Not Bucky. Not Jason Todd. Not Black Goliath... oh... waithe'sstilldead. *Ahem* Almost no one stays dead in comics. Especially main or flagship characters. Heck, depending on who's talking, Barry Allen could come back.

Plus, Bruce has died. Back in the previous JLA book. When the team ent back in time and got their rears handed to them by the 'Apache Chief" analogue.

Manhunter, on the other hand, I'm not happy about. I haven't liked his new look and outlook since 52, and although I think the character needs revamping, I don't think killing him is the answer. He's less likely to come back, and that scares me.

So, in closing, this is no big deal in my book. In fact, I might actually add Jason's run as Bats to my pull. Sounds kinda interesting.

Sorry, I thought it wouldn't spoil anybody because it's more or less what it's said in dc.com. Anyway, sorry again.

Since they already confirmed that this wasn't true, and we already discussed this on this very forum, why is this being brought up again?
