I was at our local comic bookstore the other day, and I couldn't help but notice this title.

Classic Avengers. From the cover, i assumed it was just a remake of the old, classic adventures of the Avengers. For me,it was nice seeing Hank Pym as Giant Man again, as well as Ironman's old suit of armor and the Avengers battling it out again with their old foes like the Hulk. I think it's neat to be able to read the old issues again. Especially since these issues were made long before i was able to buy my own comic book as a kid. I remember as a kid, I used to read some dusty old comics from my uncle's collection, and would spend hours flipping thru the almost worn out pages. My uncle had huge collection, some he even book binded. ^_^

I was wondering if there are any other titles that has been redone like this. Oh, and did DC comics do something like this too? What do you guys think of these old comic issues being redone?  :)

Reprints are great.  and although they aren't really new (marvels been selling reprint comics since the 70's)  what i really like about Avenger's Classic is the new stories they add with the old.  Usually they are just nice character pieces,  but its cool.   kind of like a mix between Avengers Solo with a reprint too.

i forgety now if the X-men classic series from the 80's  had new material too.

:o Wow...didn't know they added new content/stories for the classic Avengers team.

I thought they were just reprints that sticked to the old stories. Cool. Gives you more reason to buy them.

Yes they did, at least for a while. The early ones had new pages inserted into the middle of the stories (bad idea, IMHO, even though they were drawn by the same artist who'd done the orignals, Dave Cockrum). Later they switched to having separate backup stories, drawn by John Bolton.

IIRC the inserts (baaad idea) weren't all done by Cockrum. Kieron Dwyer did some (maybe in Byrne's stead rather than Cockrum's, though), inked by a Terry Austin in very poor form. Bolton did most of the backups, but I've got a copy somewhere bought because of the Ann Nocenti-Kyle Baker Alfred Hitckock parody.
