Viking

Now that the Thanksgiving holidays are upon us, we may just have the time to attempt this dreaded Strike Force.  The one that our groups have never completed, and indeed - have rarely succeeded in even putting together a team to make the attempt.

This post is meant to sound out interest and availability.  Let's see if we can finally tame this beast.

Ephemeris

Always interested as long as we can get a team of FR/NRF members.

Verfall

I can't do saturday night, and probably not friday night either.

DMenacer

This looks like it may take awhile to complete this level 45-50 Task Force mission from what I'm reading here. That spread level ought to allow some players to have two or more heroes that they can use.

I have two different heroes that I can use which will fit that into the levels needed for this Task Force, a Blaster - Knight Star and a Healer - Doc Medic.

Viking

The Lord Recluse Strike Force is a villain-side Strike Force.  Level 45-50 villains, not heroes, are required to run this.

MikeB7

I think I finally may be ready to once again give this a shot.  I'd bring Mikaal Septus, nrg/rad corr.

captainspud

How many corrs does the community have now? I know someone did a /Stone brute finally, but has the Corr count gone up from the 4 it was last time we tried to organize this?

Ephemeris

These are all the level 50 villains I can think of within the extended FR/NRF community:
Brutes: (17)
Absolut Brut (Viking) Dark/Dark

Stalkers: (3)
Antiov (Rook)
Essbeedee (Stopman) Nin/Nin
Pirate Queen (Viking) Nin/Nin

Did I miss anyone?  Did I get all the power sets right?

Anyways, I'm only looking to overcome the first hurdle...assembling a team to even attempt this.  Limiting power sets and AT's has had the negative effect of limiting attempts, so I'd rather not go there.  We've had zero attempts since before the AV changes.  Let's just run the SF like it's a series of missions, if we fail, we fail.  So be it.

MikeB7

Yogg is stone/elec and Hak is stone/stone.  No way I'm taking Mikenstein, heh.  He's totally barren now, in preparation for a reroll to SS/Willpower.

Tortuga

I'm definitely up for this as Frontal Lobe.  It's just a matter of picking a time/day.

Viking

Okay - my Sunday afternoons are generally spoken for.  So are my Thursday evenings, but as we're trying to organize something for this weekend...

Since Verfall can't make this Friday or Saturday evening, it might make sense to try starting this on Friday or Saturday afternoon.  And since Friday afternoon is quickly disappearing...

How many villains can make Saturday afternoon?  Can we get eight?

Ephemeris

Tortuga

I have an appointment at 3:30 pm EST (which will last until around 5 pm EST), so unless it's substantially before that, I won't be able to make it.

Viking

After talking with some of our fellow players online this morning, we're making a push to try to run the LRSF this Saturday evening, November 24, at 9 PM EST.  That's 8 PM Central, and 6 PM Pacific.  Hope you can make it!

('Cuz we really need eight members to do this!)

Viking

Last night, the FR/NRF team successfully beat the Lord Recluse Strike Force!  Congratulations to all involved.  Thanks also to everyone involved in making this team happen:

Train Wreck
Ephemeris
MikeB7
Tortuga
Volt
Excession
Verfall
and special thanks to Time Titan, both for being willing to be part of the team, and doubly so for graciously ceding his spot to Excession to let him run the SF.

We wrapped this one up in just a bit over three hours, despite:

1) Not being tanked to the gills with Shivans and nukes;
2) Having to occasionally juggle 2 or 3 (or possibly more) Heroes at a time;
3) Having only seven villains (and sometimes six) for the really big fights due to real-life and connectivity issues.

Apologies to Verfall, who was called away by real-life issues and could not be present for when we finished the Strike Force.

May this success spur further FR/NRF people to make the attempt to run this SF, and/or get their villains up to level 45+ so that they may do so.  A good time was had by all.

Once again, profound thanks to all involved.

MikeB7

Fun stuff!  We're all Archvillains now.

El Condor

Big gratz, guys! I know this was a long time coming.  Guerra is 34 - he'll get there someday!

EC

Verfall

Ya I didn't get back home till around 5am, but glad I didn't drag you guys down with my absence. Good to know we can rock it with a decent team like we can an STF,

MJB

I would run this SF in a heartbeat. Still haven't run it all the way through. Congratulations guys!

-MJB

Viking

Glad to hear it, Meejub!  I'm hoping more people will be willing to run this SF in a heartbeat as well.  It was tough, but satisfying.

Lessee, some random bits of advice I can give from our experiences:

1)  Depending on the team, it may be advisable to have no more than 2 Masterminds on the team.  People with slow connections may start having issues with the sheer number of pets onscreen.

2) The first mission is believed to still be potentially buggy.  Specifically, the part where you have to escort the technician to the computer - if he gets lost, he can start running or flying all over the map, even if you catch up with him.  We handled this one without bugs, but we made sure to clear away all the other Longbow forces first, and then made sure that any and all invisibility effects were turned off.  After we grabbed the techie, he received an honor guard with a Brute in front of him and a Brute behind him as he was escorted to the lab.

3) It is possible to handle two or three Hero-class opponents at once, though it can be difficult.  Having someone to clearly specify which Hero everyone should beat on is very important.  That being said, Numina should always be taken down first so that she doesn't rez any other Heroes.

I'd be more than willing to LRSF with Inquisitor Char.
