Lionheart's Drawings

Lionheart

Many years ago, when my wife, brother, sister, and I created our own pen-and-paper superhero RPG. We created our own characters by tracing basic figures from DC Who's Who and Marvel Universe comics, and designing our own costumes, accessories, etc. (using the originals as "base skins" so to speak).

After a while, I decided to try my hand at recreating these characters by drawing them myself. I don't have any art training, except for a few "how to draw superhero" type books. The tracing I had done did help me get used to drawing certain types of lines and shapes, though. Just don't pay too close attention to the inaccurate musculature.

Basically, only family and friends have seen my attempts at drawing (except for last year's Freedom Reborn calendar entry). But you guys are my friends too, so I though I'd finally post my efforts here.  :)

Most of these pictures are over a decade old. I found last fall that my skills had atrophied greatly when working on the calendar; the calendar pics are mainly reworkings of my older pictures. I'd like to get back into drawing again.

Enough rambling. Here's a couple to start with (the first one's arm is cut off because my scanner only does 8.5 by 11):

Here's another one. I'm not particularly thrilled with the hands, but hopefully the rest of this pic offsets that.

Gonna backtrack a little and put in some of my older stuff (yes, even older than I started with :) ).

Early on, I had a little trouble with guys' shoulders looking a little disjointed.

This first bunch is a set of Marvel characters I did for my wife's three brothers:

Here's a few of my own characters.

SL -

I've been slack about keeping up on the art forum, so forgive my late posting.  I think you've got a great start on things - good dynamic poses, decent anatomy - and with practice I can only forsee you getting better.  Keep at it!

Thanks for the comments, Unc. :)

I still have more recent stuff to post (along the lines of Nighthawk in the first post), but they're still several years old. The itch to draw is kicking back in, but the rustiness is very frustrating at times.
