is it possible to add new NiNode's to the NiSkinInstance of a piece of a mesh?   for example I'm trying to add the capebottomleft and capebottomright into a cape that is anly skininstanced to capetop right now.

I've been doing some experiments in this area myself, but I think you're looking in the wrong direction. There is a way to add more bones to the skininstance, and a relatively easy one if I recall correctly.

The problem lies in getting the mesh to follow those additional bones. If I'm not mistaken, there isn't really any practical way to assign sections of the mesh to those bips, so all it would accomplish would be to waste space in the mesh.

Hmm.....I've recently "bothered with the niskindata and found out that you can add more bones in the bone list, the same number of bones that are in the niskininstance, I think that's not really helping but maybe someone else will explain how to do this?
