Nice,  but he still can't draw a proper foot.

Hmm... everyone knows how much of a huge fan of Liefelds's work I am. This looks ok at a quick glance. Then I start noticing things like the glowing eye coming from where his ear is, his very sharp elbow, the foot, what appears to be a knee and foot directly parrallel with the club foot, why there's just a baby head sticking out his chest, the revolver hand not really holding the trigger, etc.... Still, probably his best work to date.

AfghanAnt

How would you reload rounds in those guns? Also I blame the colorist and the inker for making Liefeld's work better than it normally is.

doctorchallenger

Apparently that kid will be a big giant head with a vestigial body, based on the proportions shown, and the lack of a second shoulder.  Maybe AIM is creating MODOKs through genetic manipulation rather than mutation.

ow_tiobe_sb

Ooh!  That rifle (or is it a holster?) partially buried in the right shoulder looks painful!  :o

No wonder (Liefeld's) Cable grimaces so frequently!  Or is he simply disappointed that his right index finger will never reach the trigger?

The colorist fixed the parts of the drawing that he could.

I guarantee you that the pencils are yet more of Liefeld at his finest.

And look at the barrel of the lower one. What shape of bullet comes out of that piece? Pez?

Also, where are all the equipment pouches? Did Liefeld lose his Jansport sponsorship? I don't even see any cargo pants!

ow_tiobe_sb

I don't mean to nitpick, but it does seem that weather patterns of the future will be drastically different from our own.  There appears to be a strong wind blowing Cable's cape to his right while smoke (emanating, in part, from the left side of his left boot? ) trails leisurely to his left.

Personally, I'd rather be Living in the Past. *rock flute music can be heard in the background*

Hmm... why there's just a baby head sticking out his chest...

I think the baby is coming out of the gun.  Maybe that's his new weapon, some sort of baby-powered hand cannon.  Or perhaps the baby is just the clip?  Would save a fortune on diapers that way...

lugaru

They tried to send Liefeld to Art School
but he said NO, NO, NO...

LOL. Awesome.

Yeah, I believe that's the colorist's touch on Liefeld. It's probably the best I've seen of Liefeld's art, but it's not nessisarily good either.

thanoson

So, what's the light source for this piece? Count how many their are.

BWPS

I don't see why you people have problems.

Nice,  but he still can't draw a proper foot.
A lot of side effects of super powers is a condition called triangle-foot, thats just science. Unfortunately Liefield is one of few artists to adopt this because most people these days prefer style to realism.

QuoteThen I start noticing things like the glowing eye coming from where his ear is, his very sharp elbow, the foot, what appears to be a knee and foot directly parrallel with the club foot, why there's just a baby head sticking out his chest, the revolver hand not really holding the trigger, etc....
-Glowing ear makes less sense than a glowing eye, how?
-Obviously (though I think he has yet to use it in the books) Cable has an adamantium blade that comes out of his elbow.
-He was just shot on the left side of his left foot in this picture, causing it to move forward. This situation occurs fairly often and is the reason he keeps a throwing knife on his boot in that position where it would be most inconvenient to unsheath otherwise.
-Well I assume the plastic baby head is a decoy to keep him from getting shot. Would you shoot a guy who at first glance had a baby strapped to his chest?
-That particular gun was a little big for him so he glued it to his hand and uses it as a blunt weapon. He has the other gun for shooting!

QuoteHow would you reload rounds in those guns?
The left handed one reloads from the back and is cheaply made which is why it shows cracking. The other gun doesn't load at all because, if you'll notice, it doesn't have a trigger either. It's a blunt weapon designed to look like a gun to fool the type of people who see a baby head and don't shoot.

QuoteOoh!  That rifle (or is it a holster?) partially buried in the right shoulder looks painful!
I know, the enemy has obviously been stabbing him with stuff really bad.

A bullet's shape doesn't matter if it still kills the flatliners.
He has a little wrist pouch, I'm sure he keeps something in there.

He's in a small tornado. A FUTURE tornado.

QuoteSo, what's the light source for this piece? Count how many their are.
His flashing ear, the flashlight attached to the left side of his blunt weapon that looks like a gun, a strong light generated from his anus, and a glowing light source in front of the picture toward the center. So... 3?

  BWPS, you're my favorite.

Ok, the anus generated light almost made me get a new keyboard. Brilliant my friend.

Ladies and gentlemen, this cover is not an illustration of Cable at all!  It is, in fact, an illustration of Judge Daniel Paul Schreber! *bows and graciously receives the accolades bestowed upon his skills of deduction*

I like it. :) The colorist did a fine job of rescuing this image.

After minutes of puzzlement and disbelief, the colorist and inker have a conversation.

Colorist- "So, can you do anything about the double elbow left arm?"
Inker- "Yeah, I've worked with Rob before. I'm just gonna pretend the lines for the 2nd one aren't there."
Colorist- "What about the baby gun?"
Inker- "I think Rob was really high when he came up with that. But, Cable is from the future. Maybe they have an abundance of explosive babies. I don't know. My question is what that club thing is in the lower part of the picture. I can't make it out."
Colorist- "I'm pretty sure that's supposed to be a foot. See how it's attached to his leg?"
Inker- "Kinda awkward ain't it?"
Colorist- "Dude, this is Rob we're talking about."
Inker- "True story. Well, let's get to work."

Spitfire

It may just be me, but I've never seen Cable in comics with an arm that has that damn hinge on it. The techno-organic metal looks more like silver muscle, like Colossus. I'm getting annoyed that people keep on drawing him with that hinge in his arm. It's not a bionic arm, it's the result of a techno-organic virus trying to take over his body, damnit!

But, then again, that colourist did a good job.

thalaw2

Didn't RL have something to do with the creation of Cable?  Before he discovered "his style" Liefeld was a decent artist.

detourne_me

yup, cable was created by Chris Claremont and Louise Simonson I think Rob Liefield di the original design.
RL and Fabian Nicieza created Deadpool too.
