FFvTR UK

please help, i live in the UK and play FFvTR more than FF although I own both *YAY*
after recently reinstalling FFvTR I want to install the Mod Tools aswell, especially for Character Viewer,
but ModTool install install doesnt recognise the installation. Keeps saying please install FFvTR.
Maybe because the UK release installs to "C:\Program Files\Digital Jesters\Freedom Force Vs The 3rd Reich" whereas the US version installs to "Irrational Games"? Ive installed the ModTools UK Patch, but still cant get modtools to install. please help.
Should I jus change the installation directory or is there another way?
Os this the right Topic (General) or should it be in Technical?

i would leave it and go out and get the xplosiv version of the game, its only a £5 and it means you dont have to worry about all the crap digital jesters put the uk fans through as it installs the same way as the american version

The Evil One speaks the truth.  As I recall, there was a separate version of the mod tools available for the version of the game that Digital Jesters inflicted upon us, but it was an absolutely collosal file because of the way in which they'd packaged the files.

The DJ version of the game plays absolutely fine if you're just interested in playing the main campaign.  Okay, it has Starforce and I hear some people have had some problems with this software but I never noticed any problems myself.

The DJ version of the game is mostly okay if you want to download other people's work to play in your game.  Skins, meshes etc were straightforward but I sometimes had problems installing new campaign mods.  In some cases the fix was as simple as just changing the filepath in the shortcut icon, but in other cases I think I had more problems.

However, I don't think ANYONE (although I stand to be corrected on this) used the DJ version to make their own mods.  UK and Europe based mod-makers tended to get copies of the Irrational Games verison to get around this problem.  As TUE says, you can get it for only a fiver nowadays.

I can endorse this. I actually imported a US version of the game because even with the massive 'patch', I wasn't convinced it all worked.
I know for a fact that there was some stuff missing as the standard FF3R custom meshes (Accessory girl etc) were no where to be seen.
Digital Jesters were pretty much responsible for FF3R flopping in the UK. I was so sad to here they went bust.

thank you all for the help, just to let you know i am running on XP and have fixed the error by reinstalling as it seems that the original install crashed before trying to install DirectX and the MP Gameserver. After the reinstall it aknowledged the install.
Another question though, you mentioned the UK ModTools Patch and I have it, but does it need installing before or after you install ModTools basic??? cos it installs in both circumstances (doesnt seem to check if you even have ModTools
