So, um, I thought I might like to try my hand at skinning.. I've been doing a lot of 3D texturing and stuff for animation lately, and I've been enjoying it, so I thought maybe I'd enjoy skinning too...
Problem is, I haven't had Freedom Force installed in abouttttt 3 or 4 years now. And now I'm on a Mac.
Did the Character Tool ever come out for OS X? I know a port of Freedom Force arrived for Macs but I can't for the life of me find the character tool available for anything but PC anywhere.
Slightly on that note, anyone on here skin on a Mac?

Heh, thanks guys.

IPS is the resident 'skinning on a mac' expert round these here parts...

IPS used windows to check his skins on ctool, iirc. Do Nifviewer and nifskope work on Mac?

Cardmaster

No, unfortunately neither of those programs work on a Mac as far as I can tell... Hmm...
I mean, I guess I could use my roommate's computer to check skins on ctool.. he's on a PC. Just seems very inconvenient.. hmm..

CM, I have no idea if this works, but have you tried WINE?  Let me know if that works.  Good luck!

My suggestion would be even if nifskope doesn't have a Mac version, ask the Niftools team if they'd consider one. At least they haven't vanished from all eternity.

for skinning?

Yeah, the nifskope program can be used as a poor man's character tool if need be.

Mac = Evil

Actually, "Mac" = "Son of."   ^_^

Heh, thanks for the advice guys.. Regarding Bootcamp, I used to have my PC partition on my computer (and it worked beautifully but I just don't have enough space anymore.. (I'm on a laptop, heh..)

Proto and Tiobe, that was just juvenile. I'm surprised, I wouldn't have expected it from you two of all people.
If either of you were willing to actually discuss why you don't like Macs then I would love to have that discussion with you. To come into a thread, however, where I'm trying to get questions answered and to leave (completely off-topic) comments obviously intended as flame-bait is just non-constructive.

Everyone else besides them though, thanks again and have a nice day. :)

who moderates the moderators?

Yes, but that line sounds soooo much better in the original latin - but the original klingon is pretty good too.

pst... *I* hate to be the voice of reason, but i'm pretty sure they were just messing with you.

Actually, I thought I was "messing with" Proto in a clannish sort o' way.   I have no problem with Macs, CM.  Besides, I've had the pleasure of knowing many fine MacLeods, MacCulloughs, and MacVarishes. ;) I have used Macs (the machines) and enjoyed using them.  Moreover, my brother, a graphic artist and art director for a profitable marketing and branding firm, swears by them and runs his own Mac blog.

Don't hate me, CM. *sob*
