What can I say, I had to pick this one up after loving the previous Lego Star Wars games.  I'm only halfway through storymode on Raiders wiht a couple of side trips, but so far so good.

If you've played the previous LSW games, you know the basics - fight enemies, build and destroy lego stuff, solve puzzles.  This time around, there's more emphasis on the puzzle element so far (which fits the genre) though combat now includes weapons that can be dropped by defeated enemies (guns, swords, bazookas) some of which have limited ammo, but give you fair warning by blinking red before you run out.  Lots more hand-to-hand this time around, and some nice variety mixed in.   Puzzles include some co-op puzzles, but if you're playing solo, the AI does a good job of doing the second player's job.  (Tomorrow night is game night, so I'll get to test out co-op mode with a living person then)  Gameplay is both challenging and forgiving (ie: if you fail, you don't necessarily have to start over except in special sequences) though the basically locked camera is a bit of a pain.

The humor is still very much a part of the game, from the mimed cut scenes to little bits in the game itself (the rooftop bar-b-q, a hidden area with Santa Claus, the fact that Willie's special power is "screaming")  Graphics are about on par with the previous games, which is fine with me.  (FYI I have the PS2 version, so you mileage may vary)  I understand some of the characters have "phobias" (Indy freezes around snakes for example) but I haven't gotten far enough in to see that in action no no response on that yet. I did like at the beging if "Temple of Doom", Indy's basically swaying and staggaring around because he's been poisioned, at least until you get him the antidote, which was kinda cute.

True, I haven't even had the game 24 hours yet, but so far so good.  Will post more once I get further in.

I'm going to have to get this.  I loved the Star Wars one (I never bothered with the first trilogy).  Oh, I'm gonna be in so much trouble.

Played the second trilogy and the complete saga and finish both.  I already order for this game online and should be getting it on Monday.

Wasn't there going to be a Batman lego game too?

Glitch Girl

Lego Batman comes out in September. There's a promo on the disk for it, just a video though.

Didn't get much chance to play lately - did manage to complete a couple of areas in ToD just so I could get the characters needed to do all the free play stuff.  Gonna try some freeplay next.

I have only played about 4 hours worth of the game but it is fun and at points challenging, then again this is the first lego (blank) video game i have ever played. Any ways I love it so far!

Giving this a bit of a bump...

So far, I've gotten 57+% in the solo game, and about 20% in the multiplayer game I'm playing with a friend of mine.

The game is going much faster than the previous Lego Star Wars games.  Levels are physically shorter, but more puzzle oriented so they can take some time, depending on the difficulty of the puzzle.  So far I haven't felt the need for a game FAQ, which is good.  I had trouble finding two artifacts, but once I earned the "artifact detector" this wasn't a problem.

Multiplayer wise, there's still cases of  "camera dragging you to your doom" but not too many.  (IE: if the characters get spaced far enough apart, sometimes the camera will drag one of them along, sometimes into an abysss if you're not careful)  Otherwise, co-op's been going very smoothly.  There are some areas I found easier to deal with with two people, and others where it's easier to have one person drop out.

The addition of pick up-able items is a nice feature.  You can now pick up tools, weapons, and throwable objects in addition to your character's special ability.  Phobias, while cute, aren't quite as successful IMO.  While it's cute to see one of your characters cower in fear of snakes/rats/bugs, it doesn't really offer much in the way of additional puzzle challenge.

It is VERY CUTE.  :D  Even some of the more grizzly scenes (like the guy getting chewed up by the plan propeller in RotLA) are funny without being kid unfriendly.  The finale on Raiders was a bit lacking, but that's okay.

I've unlocked two hidden areas so far: Yound Indy (where you get to go through the cave and the train chase scenes from LC) and Ancient City -  a Lego landscape with an historical theme while you hunt for cash and break pretty much everything in creation.  Haven't beaten the latter yet, but gonna give it another try soon.

I do like this game.  It's fun and it can be played casually.  If you're a parent and want to play something with your kids that won't make you feel like you've had a sugar coated lobotomy, I think this is the game for you.

Merged all the threads into one thread... TO RULE THEM ALL!!!

Ahem... On a serious note to all who have played this game: Is this game worth purchasing?

Our kids have Lego Star Wars (PS2) and LSW2 (PSP) and they love them to death. Is Lego Indy worth the 40 clams?

:thumbup:I would say so, It sticks to the movies, while adding that lego fun! Aswell as some apperently secret levels that you have to unlock.

Glitch Girl

I think so, especially if you liked the previous Lego Star Wars games.

Previsionary

speaking of star wars, i think your kids would be surprised quite a bit since there are some secrets in the game of the star wars variety. Doppelgangland, eat your heart out. ;)

I'm really enjoying this game, though I've only done the Raiders section so far.  I'm really missing a jedi character though - I really depended on those double-jumps!

Glitch Girl

Well, I beat it.

Overall, very pleased - felt a little short in the end, but maybe that's because I wanted to play more.  However, there wasn't artifical padding of the game (such as superstory mode - play through the entire movie in an hour, I hated those)

One letdown though was the final unlockable (spoiler to follow)

[spoiler]Once you find all the artifacts and complete everything else the final level opens - the Warehouse.  This is a large, mostly open area with lots of odds and ends.  There are a few boxes you can break that reveal vehicles, traffic cones, barriers, and even a ramp. There are also odd blocks that can be placed onto green targets, which converts the space into a drawn track.  The shape depends on which block you drop: 90 turn, u turn, and straight.   You can rotate the track with handles that appear upon activation.  Two levers control spaced apart on the field control camera zoom.  There are also studs to pick up (hitting 1,000,000 ends the level).  This isn't too hard, as there is a target on the far right you can pound to your heart's content for enough studs to end.

While a lego racetrack sounds like a fun idea, it takes a while to layout the track, and there's no way I've found to save your progress, a real minus in my book.  There's also no way to undo any track you may have mis-dropped.  OTOH, since the track is merely paint, it doesn't hinder progress if you should make a mistake, it'll just make the course more confusing.  In single player mode, there's not a whole lot you can do besides build the track, as there's no one to race, so this is obviously for the multiplayer game (the save game I'm playing with a friend isn't anywhere near this point sadly for real dual player testing)

BTW once you "beat" this section (get 1 million studs, possibly in a time frame), and get 100%, the college starts literally raining studs and hearts, so if by some chance you haven't gotten to 4 billion studs (the cap), it becomes even easier.
