The Hitman

Heard about this today. Sounds kinda interesting. It'd definitely be a fresh spin on the formulaic Superhero Film approach.

The basic plot has been floating around for a while now, but this is the most detail I've seen.  Looks like it could work, although as long-time GA fan I'd prefer a more arrow-centric story.  Maybe he'll craft a bow in the prison work shop . . .

Completely uninteresting concept to me personally.

I don't really see the point of making it a GA (or any established hero) other than getting comic book fans in the door. I think it could be a rather interesting super hero movie if you used the concept itself as the main selling feature and just made the characters fresh creations. The concept of a super hero and super villain is pretty well defined, using a name property just seems to me to add complication.

Do it like prison break version of Hancock.

I don't see why they don't do a straight up adaptation of Mike Grell's The Longbow Hunters ... it has action, origin, and a ninja.

Agreed. Using Green Arrow for this is just... weird. Admittedly I haven't kept up with all of Green Arrow's history, but did a storyline like this ever take place in the comics? If not, why use his character. If you want to appeal to Green Arrow fans, shouldn't you do something he actually does, and quite a lot?

Can't speak for the Green Arrow comics but more than a few bloggers/fans have noted that the story (at least the bit about Green Arrow going to jail and teaming up with/laying the smack down on inmates) bears a resemblance to the first portion of Punisher: Circle of Blood (the original 1986 Punisher mini-series by Steven Grant and Mike Zeck), which itself was the subject of a "sort-of" homage in the last portion of the Garth Ennis-penned story of the Punisher video game released in 2005. IIRC, Grant himself has noted (in a CBR forum post, I believe) the similarities after seeing the early treatment of the script a few months back, but says that it's all coincidental.
