Hey there,

I need your help because FFvTTR crashes even before the game starts.

My System is:
Intel Core 2 Duo 2,0 GHz with 2,0 GB RAM;
Windows Vista 32-Bit

Every Time I start the game, there pops up an error message, telling me I need administrator rights to install Drivers (I guess it's those Starforce Copyprotection Drivers). Therefore I updated all Drivers Direct X/Starforce and Vista SP 1, and still I get the error message.
Has anyone encountered this promblem so far and found a sollution ?

Thank you for your help...

You may get a better response from someone using your version but, until then...

I assume you are logged in to Windows as an admin. If you haven't already, you may want to check the starforce site. Presumably, they should have the right updates.

I really recommend tracking down the North American release of the game. It's really cheap (like US$5) here and I'm sure some retailer in Germany or wherever or online store that can ship will have it at a pretty good price. In addition, most of the mods are written to install correctly on the NA release. I don't know if it applies to you, but the Digital Jesters release had an odd file structure that made things difficult.

Stumpy, did you not catch the discussion on the budget European release?

In any case, the budget release, which is not made by DJ, is identical in every way that I am aware of, to the US version, including no Starforce, and full mod compatibility due to the original file structure remaining intact.  That could be an option for you as well.

I wasn't sure the Empire Interactive release was identical to the North American release, though the hints in the earlier thread implied that it was. If so, that's a great option, as I am assuming that EI (a UK company) ships to wherever Olsen-alp is.

Thank you for your quick response.

I do live in Germany, and the game version I got must be the/an european budget version. On the package of the game itself, I can't find any hint of the publisher European Interactive. I think in Germany it is a different one named 'digital tainment pool' (short dtp-ag). Really ticked right now, 'cause I got so many problems with games and other software I want to install under windows. And copyprotection systems such as Starforce really suck...
I going to try to create another user profile without admin rights. I let you know if it works.

Greetings Olsen

Ok, now I tried several things.
First of all a new user profile. Still the error message pops up, which tells me I need admin rights (although I am the administrator).
Next step... searching in other forums... finding a post at anaconda forums (the new official publisher) where they tell you it will work out, if you deinstall all StarForce Drivers with a special tool. Afterwards you should install the StarForce Vista Update. Tried it still it fails.
Since a good friend gave me the game and I didn't buy it, I didn't loose anything, except my patience. I'm just am a little sad. One more game I will not be able to play...  :(

It sounds like you have one of the releases with StarForce. Go to the link I posted and get the Empire Interactive / Xplosive release or find a North American release, neither of which have StarForce. It's really a fun game.
