in game animation issues

I just noticed on a couple different meshes, when I play a rumble room battle and choose a melee attack the character just runs up to his target and doesnt use his melee animation, he just keeps pushing against the target and you can "hear" the melee trying to work, but it never does any melees.  I tried different melee animations but none of them work.
When setting up the character I can choose the melee animation I want and it looks just fine in the character edit screen.
Any body ever run into this before?  Should I post any log files?

After some troubleshooting I figured it out.   All the charaters that I been having melee trouble with - I had made those hero files with Alex's hero editor. If I deleted the melee and re-made it with the in game editor they worked just fine.   Man, I made alot of hero files with that editor..........I wonder what the issue could be.  Has anybody else ran into this?
