is there any save games to download from somewhere?

I don't know how well a saved game will run on a different person's machine (although, I guess it works, because I seem to remember that being an option in one of the Fan4 mods), but if no one else has a better method, I'm sure I can dig one out from my last play through (to get the missions to show up in the Danger Room).  Unfortunately, I think I had set the difficulty to Easy, just to get everything done quickly, so it may not be *quite* what you're wanting.

that would be awesome.  i really want to play thru for the story, to get the full effect, so easy would be fine.

You can always change the difficulty level before starting the mission.

Also, you can skip through the missions very quickly by using the Mission_Win() command from the game console.

I thought you couldn't change difficulty levels for saved games.

I don't you can change the difficulty for a saved game on the disk without re-saving it, but once it is loaded, you can change the difficulty, either at the options menu or via script. That said, two more things.

First, you can even change the difficulty level during the mission, though it won't change the health of the baddies who have already spawned, but I am pretty sure it changes their combat chances and the damage they do. It will also change the health (and other stats) of any enemies spawned after the change.

Second, often, the most useful saved games are saved during the base before the mission starts. That way you can edit the characters, recruit before the mission, hear the mission briefing CS, choose the mission squad, etc. I am pretty sure that if you change the difficulty at a base, it carries over to the mission. I am almost certain of that for FFvT3R (though there was a bug there that we fixed in FFX 3.2), and pretty sure for FF.
