Temporary Avatar Request Thread

Yeah, what the subject says...

A long time ago Springheeled Jack started the official avatar request thread, and it was a marginal success, acting as a place for new (and old) members of FR to requests skins to represent their persona here on the forum. It fell into disuse when the membership stabilised, as most people already had an avatar skinned. recently it had been reactivated with a few newer members requesting skins for their avatars. until Randy and co. can tell us if the loss of the archived info here is a permanent change or not i'm simply creating a temporary thread for those wanting to request avatar skins.
As always, there are rules, please follow them:

1.Only request avatar skins. hexes, meshes and non avatar characters belong in the relevent threads. this thread is in place to let those without avatars the chance to get one. requests fro reimagining of avatars or redesigning of such should be posted seperately. If you want to discuss your ideas for an avatar character, take it to the Character Development thread, then when you're happy with the result, feel free to bring your request here.

2. Be explicit and polite in requesting your avatar. Pictures, sketches and a detailed description help. please be polite and try to use a reasonable level of grammar and spelling. this is for your own good as well as potential skinners; no-one wants to wade thru a post of poorly composed gibberish, and if you are explicit in what you are requesting there is less chance that it will be interpreted wrong

3. If you are contacted by someone who will undertake your request, make it known in this thread that your request is 'taken'. you dont have to say by who, but at least let people know.
i have contacted people before, started making a skin only to discover they have three other skinners working on the same skin. this is not cool, each one of those skinners could be doing a skin for someone else who would like one. some skinners might not mind making another version of the same skin, but some will (i.e. me!)

4.BE PATIENT! skinners have lives. they might not get your skin done the next day, or even next week. Discuss possible timeframes for completion before you start bugging them via PM.

I find skinning avatars to be rewarding and challenging, incorporating the ideas of others into a new creation. I hope this thread gets some use. Of course these requests are open to everyone; anyone who doesn't have an avatar can request, anyone can undertake a request.

Captain Pluto, I'm having little luck finding a mesh with that style of helmet. I'll try it on the Vxmale_heels_helmet2 mesh. It's close, but just has a fuller face style helmet.
As soon as I can I'll post a WIP image for you.

Hello FR community. I don't want to threadjack, but I do want to introduce myself before requesting an avatar. I've had FF since the day it was released and been lurking in the shadows ever since the "Golden Age" where we only had skins for male_basic from the Skindex. Over the years I have enjoyed thousands of skins and meshes from all the talented people around here, past and present. Let me say thank you to all the artists whose work made a game last a lot longer than it should have. I've never felt the need to post before due to my lack of artistic ability. You know like that episode of the Simpsons where no one listens to Homer's presentation because he doesn't have hair.  Anyway, I saw this thread and said, "Why not? I can't lurk forever." So, if you'll have me...

Name: The Troll

Origin: no one really knows...Tthe Troll initially believed himself to be a professional soccer/football player who was imbibed with energy x on a hiking trip in Scotland.  But there are mysterious clues that amnesiac Troll could be as old as the Earth itself.

Powers: Enhanced strength, speed, agility, leaping, and reflexes. Also has the ability to negate supernatural and magical energy. (He's an odd mix of spider-man's and Talisman's from Alpha Flight powers, Toad's fighting style, and Puck's stature and moxie [also from AF]).

Design: It's pretty simple. Green skin, orange eyes, wearing only a brown loincloth [although if a loincloth can't be skoped, some brown cyclist-style shorts would work] held up by a blue sash. He does have a blue slash tatoo over his left eye. It glows when he negates magic. And there's the spiky manga hair and tail. For an image, see the micro to the left. (Yeah I know I cherry-picked AoA Nightcrawler for the character design, but see my comments about creative/artistic ability above.)

Mesh: Probably the only one that would work is nightcrawler_x_nsp by Podmark. The Troll is small in height so if the mesh could be scaled to male_dwarf height, that would be great. I don't know if spiky hair is skope-able, or if it's even allowed. If not, that's ok. As a requestor, I'm not going to demand anything from a requestee.

Took hair from Texas Jack's Toad mesh and mixed it with Ink's Cyclops_JimLee. Now I gotta get back to the 25 other avatars on my desktop. :wacko:

That's not necessarily true. There's no telling what projects a mesher will decide to take, and there are also those here who will do a nifskope/hex to accomplish it.

Background: A young man passes out in the woods of Nova Scotia, Canada after a university graduation party and wakes up to find himself encased in a shiny metal breast-plate and belt. His hand is also trapped in a strange gauntlet. The gauntlet is removable but the breast-plate is stuck fast. Which, once he discovers he can fly, isn't that bad at all.

Moving to Manhattan to intern at a music magazine, he tries to maintain a normal life and avoid the weirdness that seems to be following him...

Powers: Breast-plate can generate a weak-force field that can cushion physical attacks; the gauntlet can generate heat and plasma blasts, as well as enhanced strength; belt allows the user to levitate off the ground.

Mesh: possibly one of Tommy's Iron Men with bits hexed off, and Ren's GL keyframes.

Inspired by: New Universe's Codename: SPITFIRE, which I enjoyed reading as a kid.

Background: A mild-mannered alien villain passes out at the controls of his space-ship after a party and wakes up in a remote woodland area on Earth. When he wakes, half of his battle-suit, which also allows him to pilot his ship, is missing. Breaking into a local ranger station, he absorbs TV and radio news for three days. Seeing a peaceful for world ripe for plunder and seeking the other half of his suit, Gant follows the beacon in his suit to Manhattan with the goal of accumulating the power to achieve his means, meeting Woody Allen and capturing the one they call Natalie Portman in an energy cage.

Powers: His gauntlet can generate heat and plasma blasts, as well as enhanced strength. His robotic leg encasings allow him to travel via powerful leaps, as well as moving at super-speed in limited bursts. His alien physiology makes him impervious to cold and water, but weakened by heat.

Inspired by: a little Ming The Merciless, a little Sinestro.

Giallo aka Dario Bava



Background: A retired Italian criminal and former leader of the 70s European supervillain team Grand Guignol. He seeks to lead a normal life as a writer of mystery/crime pulp novels, living on the lower east side of Manhattan. However, he is frequently drawn back into crime, both for profit and new material for his novels, and because some bad habits are hard to shake. He is also trying to quit smoking.

Powers: a pair of haunted gloves he found in the 1960s gives him a variety of powers, such as super-strength and durability, the ability to generate hypnotic colours, limited-invisibility and a life-draining touch.

Mesh: male_heavy or equivalent.

Inspired by: Deadly Ernest from Alpha Flight and Bobo from Starman.
