Sweetness!!!

I hearby assert my utter and complete apathy.  I didn't even know who was playing until someone I knew mentioned it this morning.

I confess I didn't follow any team this year because i live in another country....but when i read news I always read the sports news.  My mother was born in Chicago so it's just kinda special to me....can't really describe it.

Hey, I wasn't trying to ruin anyone else's time.  I you love sports, than have at it.  There are many, MANY worse ways to spend your time.

stumpy

Not if you are a Bears fan.  :banghead:

thalaw2

Oh well.  At least my mother used to live in Indiana.

Xenolith

Da Bears just didn't have enough offense to keep up with the Colts.  I didn't think the Colts would be able to move the ball like that...in the rain...against the Bears, but the Bears D was on the field a long, long time.  Fun game.

GhostMachine

I can only hope that his performance in the game finally convinces the Bears' owner, gm and head coach that Rex Grossman sucks. Great teams usually win with a good quarterback; the Bears won games despite their quarterback.

El Condor

"We are the Bears' fumblin' crew/ fumblin' on down/ doin' it for you..."

So the did a little of what they do best (force turnovers, spectacular special teams play) but not nearly enough.  The Colts did everything they needed to do: stop the running game, hold onto the ball, wear out the Bear's D, and force Grossman to try to win the game himself (a disaster indeed).

So kudos to the Colts - they proved they were more than just a fancy quarterback and deserved the championship.

As for the Bears - wait 'til next year baby!!

"We didn't come to start no trouble/ we're just here to do the Super Bowl Stumble!"

Biggest surprise of the game, to me at least, was that the Colts' offensive line did a good job. The Colts' o-line was their biggest weakness all season.

Even though I'm a Peyton Manning fan, I don't think he should have been MVP. Its should have probably gone to Addai or Rhodes.

MJB

Ms_MJB has the mutant ability that any team she roots for looses, so she rooted for the Bears during the first half of the game. Right at halftime we fell asleep together on the couch (Awwww). When we woke up Payton was getting the MVP.

Slept right through the biggest game of the year, that's just how we roll. LOL!

Agreed.  Rhodes had a zillion receptions coming out the backfield on top of his rushing yardage.  Manning got the award more as a career recognition - all we heard about going into the game was how it was "Manning's time" and "Manning's defining moment".  The award was predetermined.

DMenacer

It was said that the Bears needed to stay tough in their defence, It was also said that the Colts needed to quit making mistakes. For all of us who watched the Superbowl and know what happened. The Colts got tough with their defence and the Bears started making mistakes. That was enough to prove during this game what has been said before "That any team can win on any day if things go their way".

The Bears came out growling (the first 15 seconds proved that)but ran back into their caves when the Colts started charging ahead.

Manning had the day he had been dreaming of, when everything came together and worked right. For the Bears it was a nightmare because they couldn't do much of anything right.

Gremlin

This game was a lot of fun, especially during the first half when the Colts slowly (that was my perception, it probably happened a lot faster) gained on the Bears.  That was nerve-wracking.  Man, that opening touchdown scared the crap out of me!  But I'm glad the Colts won.  There were too many guys at my school that hate the Seahawks, and they all laughed when the Bears slaughtered us earlier in the season.  And then they laughed when the Bears narrowly beat us, and we all pointed out they only lost by a bit, and then the Seahawks haters mumble under their breath that it doesn't prove anything and the Seahawks still suck.  But I just wanted to see the Colts win so those jerks could realize that their team got too cocky, especially Grossman.

This is why the Seahags should have moved down to Los Angeles a few years ago.  We would have shown them mad love.  MAD LOVE!!!!

I liked this superbowl much more than last years farce.  The Prince half-time show was great too and would have been better if he did "Diamonds and Pearls" and danced more and had on the "pants"

Like Cat I have no emotional investment in football but I do enjoy watching it once a year in the context of friends... and beer.

We got a rather serious spread of microbrew stuff and started knocking 'em back pregaming by watching alton brown dvd's (what, we are a bunch of food fans too) and then the game started. Seriosly I think I was the only one in the room for that surprise touchdown at the beggining.

Beyond that it was a sloppy game, but I really did dig the grand theft auto style cola add, that really made my day. I missed the performance by prince but caught it on youtube and seeing him do all along the watchtower was cool, a really obligatory standard for guitar players.
