Of course, Orloid will be healing wherever poosible in order to keep his friends on his feet. Since he will constentrate his magic on nothing other, he'll whack any of the hellish beasts with his pole if they get too close.

Gremlin

Anya:
Which key?
Og grins and brandishes his chains at one of the dogs.  He finds it difficult to wield them effectively,. being used to clubs and blades, not chains.  The dog is nimble enough to avoid most of your blows.

Dakkon hurls himself at one, his halberd point-first at it.  The spear tip jabs into the dog's stomach, and a glowing liquid like molten metal pours out of it's wound.  It howls in fury and leaps at you, it's jaws snapping viciously.  The fire on it flares up.

The girl throws bolts of magic force at the other dogs, hitting on squarely in the side and knocking it to the ground, but it gets up quickly and shakes it off before running at you again.

BentonGrey

Dakkon pivots with exceptional speed, bringing the butt end of his halberd into play to fend off the leaping animal.

OOC: Has it been melted or anything?

Glitch Girl

Gremlin

The heat from the flames does not melt the polearm, but it does heat it up a fair amount.

Anya:
It doesn't turn in the lock.
Lord Elcorion

i'll keep on blasting away, preferably aiming at the one i hit before or the other one that was wounded by the halberd

Glitch Girl

We're still up one level from the cells, right?

Hrm... Do a quick check to see if the key I just used is still intact (that the previous use didn't damage it) and if not, I'll try #2.

BentonGrey

OOC: Dakkon is still trying to split the hounds skull with his polearm.

konbiz

"Aye dogs may be a man's best friend, but they nay a dwarf's"

Shahzir aims a fireball at the ceiling above the dogs hoping to crush some in rubble.

Glitch Girl

Would it help if I said I try all the keys or have we reached an impasse?

Gremlin

OOC: Sorry.  RL.  Grr.

IG:  The human girl is able to do a fair amount of damage to the dog, and it scampers off in fear, hobbling on injured legs.  Dakkon and Shahzir are not as fortunate.  While his halberd is injuring the creature, it is not ceasing its assault, and Shahzir's attempt to blow away parts of the ceiling are met with a sudden glow of orange light.

Anya tries all the keys and finally unlocks the door with the key labelled M.  The heavy door swings open into a dark hallway with no illumination.

As you battle, one of the dogs runs towards Anya.  Growling, it leaps at her, passing by the door with the hissing sound.  In an instant, a pillar of fire ignites, spewing from the unstuck lock; the door then bursts outward in a terrific explosion.  Bits of dust and ash fill the air (again).

Lord Elcorion

coughing, i'll check to see what the status of my companions is, and that of our foes. is anything coming from the door that just exploded other than smoke and debries?

Gremlin

The smoke hasn't cleared yet for you to get a good look.  You can hear, however, a very loud creaking noise.

Glitch Girl

I quickly dust Hellhound ash off my body and step away from both the dark door and the smoking opening.  What kind of creaking noise is it?  Wooden, stone against stone, metal, what per se?

BentonGrey

With a quick twist and practiced grace Dakkon drove his polearm once more into the hound, and heaved up and over his head, hurling it towards the gaping opening which Anya had just vacated.

OOC:  Let's let him test the waters for us, what say?

konbiz

(Do i still have those magical lamps i created right at the start of this game? if so I'll send them into the pitch black hallway)

BentonGrey

Gremlin

The creaking noise is very obviously metal.  It sounds rusty and old, like it's been there for quite some time but hasn't moved an inch for that whole time period.  The creaking is now very loud, then stops.  Then you hear a loud thud, more creaks.  Pause.  Then again.  Pause.  The hounds are staring, transfixed, at the door.  You can see a large shadow appear behind the smoke.  The Hellhound you throw hurls through the air towards the shape.

There's suddenly a VERY loud creaking, and a swishing noise.  The hellhound, now severed into two neat halves, collide with the object and bounce off harmlessly.

What looks like a massive suit of armor, but solid, appears, brandishing a disproportionately short and wide blade.  The armor appears to be very green bronze, blackened by the inferno.  It is very ornately decorated in runes and symbols, some of which appear to glow.

It steps forward again, and raises the blade above its head.

Shahzir:
You send the lights down the hall, but they fail to illuminate it.  Even with your dwarvish night vision, you see nothing.
Glitch Girl

Are there any openings in the helmet and if so, can we see if there's anyone or anything inside or does it appear to be solid within the head?

konbiz

Shahzir notices the huge armoured threat killed the dog easily.

"Aye mateys have ye ever heard the term, two birds with one fireball? Since this fiend does nay seem able to distinguish between friend or foe then..."

"Why don' we let this armoured chappy solve our little skeleton promlem aye"

Shahzir scratches his beard.

"We just need someone to act as bait"

Glitch Girl

"...Why is everyone looking at me?" asks Anya.

Gremlin

The dogs run away from this new threat, whimpering loudly.  The animals in the cages are all either staring transfixed or are cowering in their corners.

The armor turns its helmet-like head, only shadow visible inside it, towards Dakkon.  It lumbers towards him, creaking all the way.

BentonGrey

Dakkon darts towards the lumbering mass of metal, trusting in his speed and agility to allow him a quick strike before he trusts to his heels to put some distance between them.

OOC: I hope the prince is quick enough, I'd rather not go toe to toe with this thing.  If nothing else, this should show us just how tough it is.

"Uh-oh.  Him look mean."

As the dots quickly fall into place in Og's head, his brow furrows.  "You not squish elf!"  With that, Og charges the lumbering figure, putting all his speed & might behind the tackle.  Once down, he'll smash the armor flat around whatever's inside with his bare hands, if need be.

Glitch Girl

How big are the openings in the helmet, and is there a torch in here that isn't nailed down?

Gremlin

Dakkon darts forward, brandishing his halberd, but with a surprisingly swift slash, the polearm is cut in two.  While the blade is down, Og runs, tackling the behemoth...but is barely able to budge it.  The thing tries to push its arm back up, but the half-ogre's grip prevents it from raising its blade once more.

Anya:
The openings are narrow, and they seem to look more intimidating than practical.  The various torches on the walls are indeed removable.
BentonGrey

While the massive half-ogre struggled with the metal behemoth, Dakkon darted forward again, striking with the blade of his sundered halberd, first going for the helmet, then for whatever chinks he sighted.

OOC: Yikes, this thing seems tough!

Panther_Gunn

ooc:  am I able to keep it's arm held in place with one hand, or do I find I need both?

ic:  "*oof!*  You heavy.  But Og learn how fight dirty from bigger ogres!"

While still maintaining his grip on the thing's arm, Og will attempt to kick out with his heel against the side of it's knee, hopefully destroying the joint. (I'm assuming that I tried to T-bone him from the side, instead of rushing headlong into it's blade)

Glitch Girl

Okay, this is probably insane, but Anya's going to try to grab onto it's back and hope it's not double jointed, and then try to get teh helmet off, even if means using the short sword as a lever.  If that doesn't look like it's going to work, I'll just try to ram the blade in between the gaps if they're wide enough.

Gremlin

GM: Hmm, I'm thinking I was unclear on how big this guy was.  He's a good two feet taller than Og, and of almost dwarf-like proportions: very squat and stout.

Dakkon pokes at the holes in the helmet, but to no effect.  Attempts to go into flesh in chinks only reveals a lack of gaps.

Og finds he can hold the arm with a single hand, but it is exceptionally difficult, and he won't be able to do it for long.  When he kicks its knee, a jolt of pain shoots up through his leg--it's solid.

Anya thrusts her blade at the thing's neck, but it clangs against something hard underneath.  The behemoth takes its unbound arm and swats you off like a bug, and you clatter to the floor, fortunately spinning in mid-air to land on your feet.
