Once Og has finished with it, Orloid will take a quick check of the bookcase, just incase there may be any riviting bed time stories or keys or something.

What would he find among the books?

konbiz

"Aye this be worrying me laddos, these strange creatures indicate some foul play be at work 'ere"

Shahzir sees Orloid scrummaging through the bookcase.

"Good thinking me laddo! Perhaps there be some magical works in there, or a map so we can get out of this blasted place"

Gremlin

As Og prepares his makeshift barricade, he hears the familiar clattering downstairs...

Anya:
The other side of the door has some noise, but you can't quite make it out.  It sounds kind of like somebody smashing small rocks together.
Orloid:
The books are written in standard Archelian, but you can't read them.  No matter how you turn the books, the text appears upside down and written backwards in an illegible chickenscratch.
BentonGrey

Dakkon caught the faint sounds on the other side of the door, and while Anya tried the various keys, he pressed his sensitive ear up against the heavy wood to see if he could make out the source of the mysterious sounds.

OOC: Can Dakkon hear anything she can't?

oog:  I was under the impression that they were following us up the stairs, at least somewhat.

ig:  Does this clattering sound like the skeletons?  Just to be sure.

Gremlin

Dakkon:
Perhaps you hear it a touch clearer, but you can't determine anything more than she can.
Og:
Oh, of course they're the skeletons.  And yes, they are following you, but they don't seem to be moving terribly fast.
Glitch Girl

Anya looks at Dakkon.  "Something's going on in there.  Sounds almost like an active mine... Think there's another way out of here?"

BentonGrey

Dakkon nodded to the human female, then pointed at two of the other doors, motioning her towards the eastern most, while he indicated that he would explore the western door.

OOC: You said something about other similair doors, we'll try those, I guess.

Glitch Girl

Anya listens at the next door over.  If it's clear, she'll use key "3" otherwise, keep trying until she finds one that doesn't sound like immenent death or is interupted.

konbiz

"It seems these skeletons be persistant, slow, but persistant they be"

Shahzir sees Anya attempting to unlock a door.

"Aye good on ye lass, the sooner we get out of 'ere, the better."

OOG: I'm really enjoying this so far hehe, we have a good mix of characters and Gremlin is doing well to keep this interesting. Also I notice this is now the number one thread on FR with the most replies. Good job guys .

OOG: Also does my familiar feel closer or further away?

Gremlin

Anya:
You noticed four doors other than the one with the noise behind it.  The nearest one has no such noise behind it.  You stick the key in, but find you can't turn it.  Not only that, it seems to be a touch stuck.
Og:
The clattering suddenly stops.
Shahzir:
Your familiar is closer now.  You can hear it crying for help.  It seems to be strongest by the door Anya and Dakkon investigated, then skipped over.
Dakkon:
You hear the rocky sound stop.
Glitch Girl

Anya peers at the door, trying to see what might be holding the key.  Hopefully not some kind of trap mechanism (she's a little paranoid right now, can you blame her?).  If it's safe, she wiggles the key a bit, trying to work it loose.

[crap, forgot to say "I check for traps" earlier, this is going to cost me isn't it]

konbiz

"Do ye all hear tha'?"

Shahzir looks at everyone's clueless faces.

"It's me familiar, I can 'ear him screaming, 'e's behind tha' door ye skipped"

Shahzir runs up to the door and presses his ear against it.

"We hav' to do something me laddos, I'm sure 'e's behind here!"

BentonGrey

Dakkon's sharp ears perked up after the dwarf's outburst, and he stared intently at the heavy door his diminutive companion pressed himself up against.  "The sounds seem to have stopped....I suppose that door is as good as another," he spoke smoothly.  Fixing his piercing azure eyes on Shahzir, the prince continued, "can your magic open the door?"

OOC: Ha, GG, I hope that doesn't turn out badly.....

Panther_Gunn

Og will peek over the top (side) of the bookcase, and see where the "bony things" are.

"Well me laddo, if by me magic can open the door ye mean, I can unlock it forcefully, then yes I can, and if by unlock it forcefully ye mean blow a ruddy big hole in it, then yes I can"

Shahzir prepares to cast fireball.

"If seatbelts were invented yet mateys, I'd tell ye to hold on to them."

Reepicheep

"fascinating" Orloid says as he closes the book and looks around to his comrades.

He will stay in the background for a bit, until an exit is open. If there is anything else in the room worth examining, Orloid'll take a peek at it. If not, then he'll keep an ear out for the skeletons, just in case time isn't on the sortie's side.

BentonGrey

"Hold!" Dakkon's voice cut through the suddenly quiet air of the menagerie chamber, but a moment too late....

Gremlin

Anya:
It looks like the key is stuck in what looks like clay or paste.  You wriggle it free and hear a hissing sound coming from the lock.
Og, Orloid:
You can't hear or see the skeletons anymore, at least not where you're standing.
Orloid:
This entire room is filled with bizarre and strange creatures, most of them apparently sedated.  They run the gamut from cat things to lizardy things to animated vortexes of energy to large insects.  Each is contained by iron bars similar to the ones from downstairs, but these have, upon closer inspection, a light blue sheen to them that seems magical in origin.
Shahzir mumbles some strange words and moves his hands around, already concentrating on his fireball...but when Dakkon tells him to stop, he drops his arms and turns to glare at him. (Oooh, rolled a 20 on your Concentration check.  How fortunate.)

BentonGrey

OOC: Haha, probably don't want to announce our presence that way!

Lord Elcorion

OOG still here, just my days off are proving to be busier than my work days..

seeing orloid's expression as he looks over the book, i move near him "find something? i may be able to decypher it if you're having trouble.. i noticed your confused look"

Glitch Girl

"Oh gods," Anya swears under her breath, "I think it's a gas trap."  She backs away from the door quickly.

(Dakkon's closer to the other door, right? The one with the familiar behind it maybe?) "Dakkon, catch!"  she says and tosses him the keys.  "Try three."

Panther_Gunn

"ummmm.....Og no see bony things anymore.  Them go away?"

OOC: Haha, probably don't want to announce our presence that way!

oog:  And preferably not cast such a large spell in such a confined area, especially when we're *in* that area.  Og doesn't have asbestos shorts!

Glitch Girl

OOG: At the moment, Og doesn't have ANY shorts.  ;)

Panther_Gunn

oog:  hey, quit peekin'!  He's a modest half-ogre!

Glitch Girl

oog: Believe me, I'm tryin' not to! :D

BentonGrey

OOC: LOL!

Dakkon snatched the keys out of the air with one deft motion, and set to work on the door.

konbiz

"Aye, about that fireball, ye know I was jus' joking right, bah some Dwarfish humour if ye will"

Shahzir hears the hissing from the door.

"Today will nay be Shahzir's final breath. I got an idea mateys."

Shahzir creates a wind wall against the door releasing the gas. Hopeing it will be a quick fix for the situation.

Gremlin

Shahzir mumbles more arcane words.  His eyes glow white as suddenly you all hear a strong gale of wind appear by the door, overpowering the hiss.

Dakkon:
You place the key in the lock and turn it, surprisingly encountering no resistance...it appears the door was unlocked.
Reepicheep

If, before leaving, Orloid happens to be able to identify what sort of magic it upon the vages, he will. Just in order to give a vague impression of what sort of thing they're up against. If he dosn't figure out enough, he will guess that it allows the cages to be opened indirectly, and we stay aware of this things in case of an unexpected attack.

He will then take whatever leave the team is taking.
