FRIDAY Feb16th: Friday I'm In Love

Saturday Feb17th: Saturday Night Fever

Sunday Feb18th: Sunday, Bloody Sunday

Note: For all events, please watch the coalition and FR/BoW chat channels for details, updates, and cheese.

Event Details:

Friday I'm In Love
Tonight is the night, it's a beautiful night, and they call it... whatever the heck they called it in that Disney movie with the dogs and the spaghetti.
For some time now, the members of Freedom Reborn and the Babes of War have enjoyed a... special... relationship. Constantly seen arm-in-arm as they thwart villainy, it was only a matter of time before these more-and-more frequents led to something more deep-seated... could this burgeoning feeling be love?

Join in at 8EST for some fun and frivolity in the Hollows (zone selected to allow access for lowbies), by the Skyway Gate, where your hosts will think long and hard to decide who the cutest couple is! Yes, folks, time to hit the boutiques and brush back that cowlick. Choose your paramour wisely and dress for the occasion! First prize is an all-expenses-paid holiday in the scenic Hollows! ... but since we'll already be there, it'll just be cash... and a brand new banner for use on the forums of your choice! Be warned, spontaneous games of Simon Says, and maybe the odd singalong, may erupt without notice.

Afterwards we can frolic through the tasks set by Ganymede and DJ Zero, kicking Snaptooth in the clackers repeatedly to get ahold of all his goodies.... that didn't sound right...

Saturday Night Fever
Ah, Ah, Ah, Ah, Staying Aliiiiiiive... that's the goal! We go through our lives from day to day, meandering through humdrum existences... but you know what you need to really feel alive? All you need is love (Bump-ba-da-da-da)! All you need is love (Bump-ba-da-da-da)! All you need is love, love... Love is all you need. And maybe a Nintendo Wii. I hear they're fun.

8EST is the gathering time for tonight's major event - Looking For Love In All The Wrong Places! Participants are encouraged to barrel at high velocity into the every lovely Hollows, where we'll engage in the most delightful of treasure hunts, as we scurry about the landscape to try and find that most wonderful of treasures, twoo wuv... Meet near the Skyway Gate and we'll take it from there! I'm sure someone will be handing out Influence as a prize for something or other... maybe the most saccharin-laden pickup line, who knows.

Once you've found your better half for the evening, we can all adjourn to that most hip and happ'nin' of joints, Pocket D, where I hear Ganymede and DJ Zero have need of our services...

Sunday, Bloody Sunday
From the dark and lonely street, to the bright side of the road... and back to the dark and lonely street again, since the bright light hurts our eyes... Why should heroes be the only ones to get lucky in love? Oh yeah, cos they're decent, caring, compasionate, and all that junk.. Phooie! Time to get down and dirty... The Rogue Isles need love (or at least a seedier approximation) too!

8EST is such a popular time for them heroes to get together... Well, fie on them! The Villains can gather at 8:15 instead! Take that, conformity! There's a little island off the Eastern coast of Mercy Island that, conveniently, has an exploration badge on it that many people forget about... Not us love-lorn baddies! Gather and show off your linguistic talents - Roses are red, Violets are blue, Make up a poem, A villain to woo! Show them goody-goody heroes that just cos we wear far too much black and blood-red, it doesn't mean we're not cultured! Winner gets some influence so that they can finally afford to go back to grammar school...

Word is, that sickening love-fool Eros has sent Ganymede back to Pocket D again... maybe we can go steal his sandals or something. DJ Zero might even have a little something on the side for us...

ALL EVENTS:
While the first two events are hero-centric, and Sunday's is villain-centric, once we hit pocket D, participants should feel free to switch toons as needed to get the most out of the event. For Ganymede's missions, mixed teams of heroes and villains will be required, and to get everything out of Snaptooth, the missions will need to be run 5 times (3 times if you already have the toga and Heart Of *** badge) per toon.

Midnight

I'd love to participate, but I'm not going to be around for most of that evening (or any evening until Monday).  :(

gdaybloke

I think most people will be busy with their spouses, ideally we'd run something later in the week

Midnight

When does the Valentine's event start and end? We could always do the classic, "Blitz the Event Mission and then have a dance party in Pocket D afterwards" event.

shipwreck58

Well I forsee the Babes being all over this as we have new members who were not in the game from last year, plus there are several new items to be earned form missions like a badge and three costume pieces, which is always money.

El Diablo ftw

CeresCeres

I definitely would be up for some type of event, just let me know what I can do to help out!! I'm thinking the weekend after would prolly be best.. Maybe Friday or Saturday? ^^

Alaric

I would suggest doing something on two nights, so people who can't make it one night can still participate. That would also allow people who can make both nights to participate with multiple characters.

Windy

Good thinking, Alaric.  Last year we did events on 2 consecutive nights for this exact reason.  But I hear the first night had a larger turnout.  Well, that just means the few on the second night get to get cozier.  :P

I'd love to do whatever you guys have in mind.  Was much fun last year!

Elysial

Events = fun!  I'll be gone most of Saturday but I'll be around other than that and I'd be happy to lend a hand!

B A D

Im out for tommorow because of the snow (wheee!!!) and V-Day, but Im hip for the party. Old Finhead could do with some rocking out.

Uzzah

i'm down to help and kick it! So is it tentatively this Fri/Sat?

Alaric

I'd really like to take part in this... Unfortunately, it looks like I may be busy both friday and Saturday...

gdaybloke

Okay, so I'm thinking Fri/Sat/Sun will be the way to go - if only cos Ana said she'd be available Sat/Sun nights, and she makes me swoon. I have about 10 toons I'll want to run through the missions, so splitting it over three nights gives us time to actually play around with a few social/fun events, while also helping to burn through the mish's with multiple characters.

Friday night for a little light canoodling, Saturday night for some heavy petting, and Sunday night for some cold showers. Or something like that.

Ideally I'd like some people to help run things (just in case I'm late getting on one night or somesuch) - another FR person and a couple of Babes would split 'control' 2-and-2 to make it nice and even - equality for all genders!

We can have the standard games like simon says, but as for themed games, howsabout...

- A date hunt  - like the Sadie Hawkins day one we held way back when? We could alternate evenings - FR hunting Babes one night, Babes hunting FR the other.
- Cutest Couple Costume Contest - Matching costumes or just complementary? In the case of Funeral Pyre and Top Defender, they could even wear matching handlebar moustaches and speedo's.
- Best "Roses are red" version - assign participants a random paramour from among the assembled ranks, and judge their poetic attempt to woo?

Thoughts? Other suggestions?

CeresCeres

I'd be happy to run Simon Says, since I still have the macros setup, and can help with prizes, whether it be influence or event salvage for 5th costume slots. I love to participate, but even more so, I love to help out with organizing/running events. :)

I love the idea for another Sadie Hawkins type thing... Do you think this gives FR/Babes enough time to find a place to hide? I don't know, maybe just designate certain zones to go find them?

Maybe a contest for the best Vday theme costume? Like in shades of reds/pinks/white?

El Condor

Ah, el dia del Amor!

Some sweet ideas here, amigos; I'd definitely be up for anything, especially if it involves the fabulous mujeres of BoW!  Looks like (at this point) I'll be able to join in some on either night, most probably later on.  Condor's even a got a great Valentine's suit ready to go: elegant, yet subtle - understated, yet daring!

What are the three new costume pieces that you can get?

What are the three new costume pieces that you can get?

Completing the Snaptooth mission this year gives you a choice of 5 possible rewards;

1: The toga costume piece (the same one from last time)
2: A laurel wreathe and sandals (two seperate costume pieces earned at once) (I believe these are the same peices the awarded last time for giving out those free trials)
3: Some sort of heart-themed costume pattern- haven't used this one yet, although I plan to for at least one character
4: The new "Partygoer" badge
5: The same "Heart of "Light/Darkness" badge we earned last time

Anyone who already has the toga and the old badge only needs to do the mission 3 times for the other awards.

Uncle Yuan

Ah nertz, I'm still CoH/V less for the rest of the month.  Have a great time verybody!

gdaybloke

How's all this sound?

CC, if you could be on hand for the two Hollows events, I'd appreciate it. Anyone else willing to step up to the plate to help out with running the events, that'd be cool too - Gdaysheila and Gdayboy have both got headcolds, so if they don't clear up before tomorrow night, my attendance may be intermittent. Don't see it being a problem, but you never know, right?

The idea is to have some light hero stuff on Fri, a longer event on Sat, and then villain side on Sun. Feedback? Thoughts?

CeresCeres

/em salute to Gday. I will be there all the nights. Just tell me what I can do to help! :) ^_^

B A D

Ill probably be there with Saint on at least one occasion.

Sundays, as you know are booked with the Relatives. Heh.

Midnight

Friday... show/getting trashed.
Sunday... show. Possibly getting trashed.
Sunday... uh... sure, I'll try to make it. :P

Alaric

Looks like I'll have to miss the whole thing... oh, well, have fun, everyone!

El Condor

:( RL will probably intervene on the starter events, as I have stuff going on both nights.  Friday later (10:00 or later) is most likely. Have fun amigos!

EC

Heliphyneau

Yay Reborners!

I'm likely to be there on Saturday, at least -- dunno about the other days.  We'll see!   ;)  Thanks to Gday for arranging this!

A special tip of the hat to Alaric for listing some coherent info on how to get the badges/items for this "Jubilee" event!  I was having trouble finding it summed up as nicely on the main CoH boards.

Windy

Love it! Awesome job, Gday!

Few things:

First, here's a link to the Paragon wiki with uber detailed info about the event including what the new hearts patterns look like.
http://paragonwiki.com/index.php?title=Valentine's_Day_Event_2007

Second, how does one go about finding a paramour for the evening if one does not already have one?  Are we, the single, beautiful but incredibly picky, going to be left out?

*sniffles a little*

Midnight

gdaybloke

I imagine whoever ends up running the event with me will have the honour of being my date for the evening, Windy (*waggles eyebrows*). Maybe I should repost my ad from last year...

I'm thinking, for the cutest couple contest, sort it out as best your able prior to the judging (which will probably take place after some socialising).

For the hunt, we'll look at gender balance when people turn up - that way FR folk aren't restricted to playing male toons, and the Babes can bring their Men At Arms if they're so inclined. We can split attendees into chasers and hiders, give the hiders 5-10 minutes to find a hiding spot without leaving the zone, and then release the hounds, so to speak. Of course, we're not lifestyle biased, so some couples can make a decision as to who's going to wear a skirt, no matter what's swinging beneath it.

Once everyone's had a good laugh we can send out the other gender to hide, so that everyone gets a turn at both sides of the game.

I'd suggest another event for us V-Day haters, but I can't think of any good ideas for a Love Stinks night....

Nothing stopping you from joining in the Villains night and making up horrid limericks... or, you know, you can just be a grinch/humbug and miss out on the fun.

Besides, Valentines was Wednesday, the event is Fri/Sat/Sun, so it's really just an excuse to socialise with your SG pals and work a few toons through the event en masse.

No-one's forcing anyone to play, so all you love-stinks'ers, go rain on somebody elses parade  <_<
