I know what you are saying to yourself... Did I read that right? Unko Man did a new skin... and it's a mainstream character?

Yes, I have. Not only that but the file is a dds, too... FFvsTR only! And actually... it suffers from it, I think. I really dislike the dds format. I only did it because of the mesh I was using. See, Benton Grey was looking for a Poison Ivy skin on the eve '70s mesh... I said to myself, why not? Anyhow, I... wait. You don't want to read a bunch of nonsense. You just want to see the skin!

There it is.

I will be including the base I had to make for the mesh, with this one. As a tga.

detourne_me

very nice!
love the sultry red lips, and the crisp colours.
im really looking forward to the release

BentonGrey

Beautiful Unko, just plain awesome.  Thanks so much for doing this request for me, I've been wanting an Ivy skin for that mesh since the first time I saw it!  I gotta' say, you really captured Ivy well.  The hair and the eyes look especially good.  I mean, those eyes look like they're really looking at you.  Thanks again!

After seeing the skin i'm now more of a fan of this version than the modern day version - I would say good job but, you already know the skin rocks

By the way I also dispise dds format

Lionheart

Not a big fan of DDS myself, but you did a great job with this skin.

Haljack

Awesome, really vibrant use of colours.

AfghanAnt

Great use of an existing mesh and excellent work as usual. I personally can't wait for the base skin you created though.

UnkoMan

Oh, that's already available for download.

It's included with the Poison Ivy skin. The only thing I had trouble with was the little leg strap. It's mapped pretty weird, so I could never get it to look right. Maybe you have some idea to make it a bit better? I wouldn't mind any advice you had on the subject.

AfghanAnt

I'll give it a look over and see if I can help.

Sledgehammer

The face is my favorite part of the skin, very expressive and unique.

I like the design, Unko. I think you did a great job there. Regarding the leg strap, I'm gonna check it out, but it looks alright in that picture.

Alrighty...
So I am slowly learning about hexing. Anyhow I saw this Dove mesh (can anybody tell me who did this?) and though that with Val's acrobatic keyframes, and some more hair it would be great. I had recently done a quick Madman mesh with some hair from Ink's Gambit, so I grabbed that.

The result?

I'm trying for this sort cartoony feeling hair, but it's not looking that great. I'm going to keep it up on the cape and the black cuffs though. Actually... some sort of crazy alpha'd circle around the ends of his gloves/boots would be awesome... but I've no idea how to do that, so it'll be flat on the skin. I think it can work though.

Guys, the Creeper!

BentonGrey

I'm loving it, Unko.  I think the hair is actually working rather well, and you made a good choice with those KFs.

jeremy355

The Dove mesh is by gildemon at

I did a skoped mesh for the Creeper using Tommyboy's Cobra mesh, because it already had parts from his Kraven mesh on it. And used the fur pieces off of Ink's Black Cat mesh for the glove and boot cuffs.

The Creeper skin looks great as well as your Posion Ivy skin.

UnkoMan

Thanks fellas...

Jeremy! Great tip! The black cat tufts are perfect. I'm having a little problem though... The arm tufts are pure white. I changed the leg tufts' texture maps, but for the arm tufts I only get "editable mesh" when I open up their block. Editable Mesh, however, doesn't open at all.

Any idea how I can go about correcting this?

jeremy355

I'm not sure. When you copied the tuffs to the Creeper did you do the copy branch on the word Fur_left_arm or on the word editable mesh? If you want you can send it to me and I can work on it tonight.

Revenant

Unko I dodn't get to comment yet, but that Poison Ivy skin is really good!  Her face and especially lips are so lifelike.  I wouldn't even worry about the leg strap, I didn't notice it til you said something.

The Creeper is coming along nicely as well!

AfghanAnt

Everyone and their mom knows how to nifskope but me and look at the benefits. I need to learn how now... (great work by the way, can't wait to dl him).

UnkoMan

As you can see by the above picture, the Creeper is finally done.
There's just one problem. I can't seem to get the mesh working in FFvsTR. Granted I only used EZnifconverter so far... but it never lead me wrong before. Maybe I should convert the three meshes seperately and then recopy the bits I want and set them up? Or maybe there's a better converter out there?

As for Poison Ivy... don't credit me on the face too much. I just took Irrational's face and made it not look like a plastic doll.

I've been thinking... I preview my skins here in these finalized picture forms... Maybe I should start just taking them blank on a white background, front and back. Then it'd be easier to point out mistakes or oversights, and for other people to give tips. I'll still have the pictures on my site. What do you think? Good idea or not?

Carravaggio

a white background don't look pretty, but it does the job, and hides no flaws. i think it'd be better to use white so peeps aren't distracted by the bascground.
Creeper looks fantastic, by the way. Great work on all that hair and fur, but i'm not loving the face, he looks too benign, not nearly unhinged enough...

Still, excellent hex and idea, looking forward to getting my hands on it (so to speak)

UnkoMan

That would be the new Creeper. I considered possibly skinning him, but I'm much more a fan of the old school version.

However if, once it is released, you want to take a shot... I'd love to see what you come up with. Especially considering the new faces you're doing.

BentonGrey

Wow, Unko, I hadn't seen him since you 'skoped the fuzz on him, but he looks prefect man!

That's what I always end up doing. There's something about NifSkoped meshes that makes the Converter lock up. No idea what it is.

lugaru

Excelent all in all, very nice niff and mesh work. Looking foward to a release, that is a cool dc character.

UnkoMan

Welp, I'm just about done the new version of my avatar, finally...

It's on Ren's Earth Two Superman, with boots from his Master Man, a little beard (that's hardly noticeble) from tommyboy's versatiles, and a pouch from Texas Jack's Solid Snake. Thing is... I don't know how to contact Texas Jack these days. So I might have to skope that out if I am to release it.

I'd also like to learn how I can enlarge the belt along one axis. Probably all the way to the end of the torso.

Anyhow, here's the skin as it now stands.

Suggestions are welcome. Thanks folk.

Carravaggio

dunno about the belt, maybe you'd be better off skoping a larger belt onto the mesh instead?
anyways, rich colours, nice simple design, its a fantastic translation of the drawn character over to a skin and mesh combo. i presume a hero file will be included for release?

The Pwime

man, that's a really beautiful skin.  :o

awesome work Unko.  The logo, belt, and boots are especially good.  Theres also a lot of depth in the mask.   ^_^
