I hate fun! Change it back!

Great work so far, I am really fond of your armor skin and it's cool to see one since she is now on mission with the team.

BTW since you've been doing a heroic skoping job and love the x-men.... any chance we will see a beak skin?

BitBiteOuch

Hate to stray away from Pod's skins, but I guess the thread is kind of inviting. I was wondering about Invincible, I mean I've heard nothing (and I mean nothing) but good things. Seems everyone loves it, and I want to pick up the trades (but can never bring myself to do it), but really, the premise doesn't interest me all that much. I hear so many good things, but from what I know about the storylines and such (which isn't much I guess), it doesn't sound all that interesting. The main characters don't seem all that interesting to me either, but like I said, I haven't read it. What's so great about it? Why is everyone so crazy over it? What might finally convince me to pick up the trades?

murs47

It's all about execution of the story and great characterization. That's why it's so good. The premise, or concept, of the book makes you think "that sounds pretty cliche." But once you read it, it's anything but. The unexpected always seems to happen. I'm sure more people will post their 2 cents on why they love the series as well.

I recently bought the first trade last Saturday, about half way through I realized this series was pure gold. So without finishing it, I went on Sunday(next day) and bought the next trade. I finished both that day.....and came to the conclusion that this is one of the best series I have ever read. Went out the next day and bought everything up to issue #43 (trades and back issues)

At least give it a shot and buy the first trade, that's my recommendation.

I'd like to do Beak, I liked him in Exiles, but for the moment I'm going to try and concentrate on the skins I have going on right now. I think someone did do a skope of him, I don't recall who though.

I agree with pretty much everything Murs said about Invincible. It's a really engaging book with lots of fun characters. I also happen to love the art as well. The only warning I'd give is that it tends to be exceptionally bloody at times.

Ares_God_of_War

I think it was Detourne_me who did that beak skope

crimsonquill

Pod,

I'm not sure if you mensioned Cannonball's graduation costume as part of the many hexes you might do for him or not. I think the helmet from Ren's movie Captain Americas might be perfect for that costume.

I always thought that the design was good for it's time anyway...never understood why an artist never just updated that look since having a crash helmet actually made sense if his powers got shut off.

- CrimsonQuill

P.S. I've fallen in love with Invincible as well not only for Kirkman's writing but because of how unpredictable the storylines have gone.. it's hardly a typical superhero comic. That's my 2 cents anyway.

Podmark

Ideally, Crimsonquill, I'm going  to try and skope all of his different looks because I'm a big Sam fan. However I doubt I'll skin all of them, and that one I probably won't because I'm really not a big fan of it. We'll see.

Been busy at work most of this week so no new progress on anything. I'm off tomorrow so I might try to finish Northstar and maybe do some other work. Also I'm working on an Antman skope for Murs.

murs47

I remember you saying you're liking the new New Warriors series in the Comics forum....I'm really liking it too.
I was wondering as soon as Marvel started revealing more of the characters if you wanted to team up and skin them all. So far it looks like there's about 10 of them. It probably wouldn't be a while since issue 2 just came out last week, but if you're interested let me know.

Podmark

Actually I was just thinking the other day that I would love to skin some of these guys. I'm really impressed with the New New Warriors book so far. It really surprised me.

So yeah I could certainly get on board with that. We could probably do Wondra (Jubilee) and maybe Nightthrasher (whoever he is) right now but the others would have to wait for better reference.

The groups that have most interested me in regards to skinning are MC2, New Warriors, Thunderbolts, the X-Universe and from DC Young Justice/Teen Titans.

murs47

Yeah, it's pretty good....I think it's setting itself up very nicely. It really has that rebellious feel to it.

I don't know if you want to split it up, or we both work on the same skins....never skinned with someone else so I don't know how it goes. I know you've got a bunch of stuff on the table right now with your Cannonballs  and other stuff. So, we can wait if you want, it's all up to you.

I should do some practice, I'm not too good at catching the younger look that you do so well with your skins.

Podmark

I've worked with Matrix and Afghan Ant in the past and both those times we both worked on each skin. But I was mostly doing bodies with them doing face work and some touchups. Splitting up the characters might be the better way to go in this case.

In other news I've updated my site! A few rereleases, in my new DC page I've added four modern versions of Jade, and in my X-Men section Nightcrawler and 2 versions of Mercury.

4 different Jades....nice.

Whenever you're ready to skin the NW let me know, also, which base skin to use.

EDIT: Young Justice/Teen Titans are something that interest me as well.

ElijahSnowFan

Hi, Podmark!

I totally hate to bug you with this because I'm usually able to figure out how to get things to work, but I'm having a hell of a time getting Surge to work with any set of keyframes I try. basically, i can't, and i have no idea why. is there anyplace you can direct me to that has a working set of keyframes for this skope/mesh that works for FF2?

Podmark

The New Mutants version of Surge includes the keyframes as it's the complete mesh, the New X-Men version just has the hexed nif. Do you have both?

ElijahSnowFan

ha! um, well, um, now i do! (i didn't read the readme as closely as i thought. oops!)

but, to prove i'm not a complete idiot, i finally figured out something: i said, "hey, if one man is going to all the trouble of skinning all of these New X-Men guys, he must really like this book or something."

sooooo...i went and bought the first three trades of the changeover...and read 'em...and wow! you're dead-on about this book! great stuff! so that's why i've been messing around with things you've released a while ago -- i had to catch the hell up!

Marvel just got a new reader on one of their books!

Podmark

Excellent! Always great to hear new people are picking up the book.

murs47

Yeah Pod, you've got great taste in books.

Out of curiosity what's your pull list look like, I want to see what other comic gems I'm missing out on.

Podmark

My pull list:
Buffy Season 8 (I only recommend if you were a fan of Buffy the Vampire Slayer TV show)
Invincible
Teen Titans (Which I don't recommend at the moment)
Cable and Deadpool
New X-men
Spider-Girl
X-Men

I think that's it. Although I'm picking up the Fantastic Five mini.  I'm seriously considering getting New Warriors, and maybe Avengers the Initiative. I keep a pretty close eye on most of the X-titles and some other books too, looking at online spoilers and preview pages.

Ares_God_of_War

cable and deadpool as well as spider-girl have always been a fav of mine. I havent been too into the x-men recently. My comic stores kind of suck here so I usually just by trade paperbacks. I am sad I missed this newest Apocalypse arc

Podmark

Ok guys, I'm going to crosspost this with my request thread.
I'm nearly finished Northstar, but I want to change the hair I'm using to something more resembling this:

Anyone got any ideas?

Maybe the hair from tommyboy's recently released Hulk mesh? Maybe.

AfghanAnt

I don't know about the hair but have you consider doing sabertooth?

Hey i gave that a try and it's looking pretty good!

The most recent costume yeah. I'm not a big Sabretooth fan so he's a bit down my list. Did you want to team up for him? I'm sure you could give him an excellent face!

AfghanAnt

Yeah that might be cool. I have  few things I need to finish but I can put them on hold and I would really like to work with you on the Carey's X-Men.

What did you have in mind? Something similar to the Deadly Genesis skins we made together, doing costumes and you doing faces and touchups/additions? Or do you want to try something different. Did you want to do updates to Mystique and Lady Mastermind with me?

I just have the hair and the streaks to do on Northstar, then I'd like to finish up Aurora. I'm expecting them to be part of either the new X-Men lineup or Omega Flight at some point in the next 12 months. Actually I'm all but certain Carey wanted them as part of the lineup but I have a feeling they were snatched up by someone else. Also I'm near positive Husk will be part of the new lineup. There you have it my predictions! :D

Anyway I'm working all weekend, and work exhausts Pod, so I'm not expecting much progress. Here's hoping though. Also slowing my skinning work, I'm trying to reread all my Harry Potter books before the new one comes out (on the 21st) I'm just past half way on the Goblet of Fire now. I don't think I'm going to make it :(

BitBiteOuch

Hey, I wasn't sure if I should put this on your thread or soemwhere else, but either way when I load up your new Armor_skope in my CharacterTool I get a "Unable to open character file" message, followed by a "alert: CDataLoader::loadNIF, Unable to load Nif fallback thing" message. I'm sure this is just my problem, nothing to do with your skope/skin, as it also happens with Rev's new Vixen skope, but whats the deal? Anyone else got this? Also, if this is in the wrong place, sorry, no problem moving it.

You may just need to convert it.
