Great releases Podmark! I never thought anyone could pull off a genuine version of Rockslide's new look (he was probably getting tired of being mistaken for the Thing when he had his old look) but you did it! Congratulations!!
So... please put your X-23 skin up soon so I can complete my collection of Podmarkian (just made that word up but sounds pretty good) new X-Men skins and meshes.

EDIT: Urghh.. is it just me or is anyone else having problems using the new meshes, all i get is the big white square. Is it sumthing I'm doing wrong or is it the meshes themselves? :(

Podmark

hmm the meshes work on my end. However I should have metioned that they have all been converted to ff2. That could be part of the problem

Blkcasanova247

Hey Pod great skins my man .....Did you ever notice that some of the links on your T'Bolts page don't work. :(

Are you referring to the lack of links, or are the actual links not working? I'm still in the process of uploading my tbolts stuff so not all the files are linked yet. The reason its taking so long is because I was having upload problems, problems that I think I've now solved.

A note on X-23, she's a tfv hex so her nif is like 3mb, so I've been hoping to skope it to a smaller mesh, but haven't yet gotten around to it. I might just reupload it anyway since there's so much interest.

ghazkul

Uhm... I don't use  :ffvstr:, the thing keeps bugging so i stick to  :ff:. Do you know a way to convert the meshes from  :ffvstr: meshes to  :ff: compatable meshes? Or, better yet, is Podmark gonna release  :ff: version himself.
If not, could Pod' possibly E-mail me compatable versions?

Even though they are all pink in my viewer, and my Ctool2 doesn't work right, the meshes look awesome as well.  It was hard to tell on the preview pick, but the Doomsday elbow spikes look good too.  I wondered what you were doing with Doomsday pieces that you mentioned...

Quality work as usual, Pod.

I did have 1 question though....  When I look at Cyke, there seems to be a second head floating off in front of him.  Would that be his hallucination...or mine?  :P  If it's Scottie's, then I again applaud your thouroughness.  A built in target for shooting practice.  Huh, who'd a thunk?

Jakew

Hey Pod, just checked out your Thunderbolts stuff ... cool! I can't wait to get that Swordsman with face-mask skin.

Podmark

ghazkul I'll have to reconstruct some ff1 compatible meshes. My decision to switch to FF2 only was partly due to nifskope considerations as there's certain issues with it that just make it easier to go to FF2.

Reconstruction of the skopes will take some time, and getting them exactly the same will be impossible. I'm really sorry about that. I'll let you know when they are done.

Peerless I'm not sure what you mean by a second heat. The skin preview on my site for Cyclops, the face shot is really blurry because ctool wouldn't zoom in enough because the mesh has ropes. There were some options I could have done to get a better pic but they weren't really worth the time.

Peerless1

My comment was regarding when I viewed Cyke in the NifViewer...there seems to be a second head floating off way in front of him.  I thought it was either something you forgot to remove, a shot at actually animating a built-in hallucination for him, or ... well, I was very tired when I looked.  I'll check it again.  Whatever it is, he looks great!

Podmark

Oh thats the red hood that falls off in the fall animation. Yes I did forget to remove that.

Podmark

I'm thinking of reconstructing my X-Men section of my site. There's two ways  I'm thinking going, 1. submenus by character, ie Cannonball, Hellion, Rockslide etc; or 2. submenu by group, ie New Mutants, New X-Men, X-Corps etc. Any opinions? I'm just thinking that as I add more of my older skins and finish new ones the current page is going to get very large and it may become difficult to navigate.

There's one major drawback to submenu by group and thats when characters can go in multiple spots, take for example Cannonball. He's been a member of the Hellfire Club, New Mutants, Hellions, X-Men, X-Force, X-Corp, and X-Treme X-Men; which group would I put him in? I could just put the different costumes in the correct groups but then I have Cannonballs all over the place.

BTW a trivia question. Which character have I skinned the most? And I mean different costumes, not updating an individual skin.

lugaru

I recomend by team if you want to take that path, it would make things REALLY easy for people who are out to build a team and also if a character wears the same costume in several teams just link to the same image and downloadable zip.

Character you have skinned the most? Without access to your old stuff that is hard but I think you had the 5 or 6 variants on speedball if memory serves me correctly.

murs47

I'd say go with sub groups, With characters that have been in multiple groups just put them with the group the pertains to.

I'm also going to say Speedball cause you've got like 8 of them on tommyboy's site.

how many skins do you have in the works?

Podmark

LOL man  I don't even know my own trivia. I thought Cannonball was my most skinned character. But yes it is Speedball with 7 skins (all available at Tommy's site). Also two of those skins have been updated in the past. I'm pretty sure thats every costume Speedball has worn with the exception of Penance.

The runners-up were Cannonball and Justice both with 6 skins. The Justice skins are all in my Yahoo Group. I'm in the process of creating all new skopes for Cannonballs.

Currently I've created 320 unique skins. Of those I have 9 unreleased original creations, and 5 unreleased skins that have kinda been forgotten. Those Five are Morph (3 versions - need to be updated to Syn's mesh), Firestar (needs to be updated to a new mesh) and Indra (need to skin Armored form).

As for skins currently in the works, I'm currently working on 2 non-Marvel skins. I have the following skopes in some point of development: Cable-current look, Bishop-current, Vulcan cape, Lord Vulcan, Pixie-smaller nif, X-23, Dust, and I just started a series of Cannonballs last night.

Podmark

New re-releases today: X-23 (3 versions) and Pixie.

No changes to the skins, but the nifs have been changed to much smaller sizes. From 1.4mb to 400k, so I suggest giving them a download even if you have the originals.

The Tbolts archive page is now fully uploaded.

I've been meaning to ask.....which keyframes do you use for you new rockslide mesh? or better yet which keyframes do you recommend?

Ares_God_of_War

Podmark

lol I don't really have an answer for those questions. I've spent so much time skinning and skoping I haven't actually played the game in a long time.

For preview purposes I was using Gren's male_heavy Darkside keys, but I wouldn't really suggest using those for in-game.

I'm not sure if the X-23 hex will accept many other keyframes, but the Blackwidow ones looked pretty good. They had lots of nice melees which is what you want for X.

Both X and Santo include herofiles but they're not updated to the new meshes, so you'll have to do that manually. The files themselves should probably still be good though.

EDIT: I seem to be in a rerelease mood today as I've just put up an Invincible page with my Atom Eve and Invinble skins due to a request.

Podmark

Ok so everyone's read X-Men 200 by now right? What? You didn't? You spent your money on the Sinestro Corps Special instead? You traitors! Go to Murs thread you ingrates :P

Anyway I'm releasing Gambit, no change however. I was trying to get into contact with Gni about skoping but so far have heard nothing, so I decided to release him as is. If I get permission in the future, or find another mesh I like I'll probably update him.

I was hoping to have Cable finished when 200 came out but it's a somewhat complicated costume and I'm not quite done yet. I've also been working on some other things as well. Haven't updated Armor yet.

haha...too funny. It was a great week for comics though wasn't it? Mystique betraying the the team seemed so obvious that I overlooked and got caught by surprise...weird huh?

I've been looking forward to this skin, glad it's finally out. The details are just mind boggling with all the little straps and stuff. Anyways...great work Pod

For whatever it's worth, I used the male_heavy kf's that I also used for the thing_effects version.  They're not terribly diverse, but satisfactory for a "clobberin' time" type character.  Course, I'm only using 2 melee attacks in my hero file, so how many animations do I need?

BitBiteOuch

Well, I'm finally back into X-Men and totally pumped to hear we'll be seeing more of thier recent costumes from you. Would there by chance be any WIPs screens  , especially Cable's new look and those Cannonball's you mentioned having started.

WIP? Sure why not, I haven't shown anything in a while.

Here's Cable, obviously lots left to do. The skope isn't final, I'm still making tweaks. This is actually one of my favorite skins I've put together, partly because I'm a big fan of Cable in recent years.

This is Tempo, one of the new Acolytes. This one is actually finished I believe. I put her together on the weekend.

And Northstar. I was just working on him today. Still need to finish the face and hair, might change the skope abit too. Aurora will obviously follow.

On the skoping front I haven't really worked on Cannonball lately. Not much to show at this point, but they will be pretty awesome skopes when I get them all done. Been doing some other skopes too, like Exodus and Havok, but I'll show you them once I've started on the skins.

I've been kinda all over the place lately.

Blkcasanova247

Excellent work Pod! Nice Skopes! Is that a VX Northstar?

detourne_me

looking great man!
what i did for my cable skope was take the eye fx from Ink's Longshot, and put it on Cable... it looks pretty good.

The northstar skin is really clean.  i like the colour palette a lot.

BatWing

that northstar is so awsome man!
