hey guys. it's pretty slow at my work right about now, so i'm just doing random searches on e-bay seeing what i can find, and i just hit a goldmine for cos-players and people looking for superhero costumes.

http://stores.ebay.com/xyq5612

they have a lot of predesigned heros, includeing spider-man in a variety of colors, superman and batman, and others. you can also order suits in a variety of different colors, and they even do customization on the design, and best of all, everything is riduculously inexpensive, often less than five dollars a suit, and i'd say no more than 20 dollars after S/H and all that jazz.

on the down side the company is based out of china so it'll take some time to recieve your items, and they only accept paypal.

damn, i just broke up with my GF and now i see that supergirl costume...why couldn't you have posted a fortnight ago dude? still some of those costumes seem pretty good quality for the price. Im not a cosplaya or anything, but i always find this stuff cool anyway.

Lord Elcorion

i actually figured out the s/h for this is higher than i thought, but your still looking at only around 40 dollars, wich is still cheaper than your likely to find in an american store, and once again, the quality appears to be quite good. most of the negative feedback tends to revolve around the long shipping times, but that's something the seller only has so much control over.

carrivaggio, sorry to hear about your GF.

Carravaggio

heh, thanks dude, its ok, it was mutual, and we remain friends...still, supergirl costume...y'know...

holy crow,  how do you figure out the sizing??? looks like i'll finally be able to be spider-man or batman for halloween!

When I saw the shipping I said "scam" and closed the window. It's a pet peeve, I hate people who try to make money off e-bay users not checking the shipping before buying.

stumpy

I would agree if this were actually a "scam". Certainly, that is more than most of us are accustomed to paying to ship. But, if they are shipping from China, is that an really outrageous S&H charge?

Having shipped stuff to a similar distance (my folks are missionaries in the Philippines) I would say yes.  Depending on the exact weight, that's probably double the cost.  And that's express shipping.  Slow shipping, I'd say $10 or less.  I wouldn't complain too much about $20 though.  Again, it depends on the weight, and how much China itself charges for things.

EDIT:  No, not so bad after all.  Shipping from China may be different, but shipping to costs $23 for a 5 lb. package using the slowing possible shipping.

stumpy

I don't do much international shipping but, when I checked this earlier, it was looking like it costs about US$40 to ship from Shanghai to San Jose, CA. (That was UPS for a one kg package worth US$10 to a residential address.) There may be a cheaper carrier, but it wasn't going to be much less for UPS.

Why is Spidey's black costume have rollerblades???

Lord Elcorion

prolly just something the model chose to do. i doubt the blades come with the costume. ((although that'd be kinda cool. free rollerblades, WOOT!))

Saw what appeared to be one of these over the weekend at MegaCon in Orlando.  I'd say the material is standard dance unitard (which is pretty good).  The person I saw was using the "traditional" Spider-Man.  It looked just like the one in that ebay listing.  The thing that stood out was how the web lines were really thick and did not line up at any of the seems.  I would avoid something that needs a pattern to line up.  I looked online for a western supplier of the the "base" unitards, and these things are not cheap.  This company had a starting price of $89.95.   Perhaps the high shipping for those Chinese unitards is well worth it.  ^_^  (Note:  From what I can tell, that ebayer probably does not keep a bunch of these in stock.  They can customize them for you.  That suggests to me that they may be made to order like the above western retailer.  That could also add additional time to your order on top of the shipping time, which would explain any time complaints.)
Now all we need is for one of us to actually order one and give a review.

Lord Elcorion

i'll prolly order a custom "elcorion" costume closer to halloween. been thinking about it since i saw this auction. prolly do it in july or august.
