That's amazing! and only 40 mins

Carravaggio

You got it Cas :)
The face is for a skin of a character that is the acts and sounds like a soccer hooligan, and I thought Beckham had the right mix of scrawny and scrappy to act as the model for him.

the_ultimate_evil

will he have the naggy fame hungry stick insect as a side kick

Bwahahahahahaha!!!!!!!!!!!  Man, you almost made my Diet Coke squirt out of my nose, Evil!

Carr, that's amazing cuz I've often thought he'd make a great one (for his looks only!).  And, spectacular face as usual!!!

Oh, and I still like the flag emblem.  But then again I really like nationalistic heroes...not sure why.

Ack....he has no eyebulbs!!!!!   :D  The design is pretty cool though.  I got a good reference pic for Aussielad if you want it........the pic kinda looks like a cross between what you have done, Nova(Annihilation version), and on steroids.

PM me if you want the pic.

As to that face... holy smokes! I like all the little skin spots on him. If it was an art piece I'd suggest a bit of asymmetry, though.
But still, daaaang.

Carravaggio

Thanks for the feedback and comments guys :)

Don't tempt me man, imagine knocking her around the rumble room...

More facework, this one used my favourite English actor as a 'model'. I think its pretty obvious, but I won't be hugely offended if no-one gets it.

The way I've drawn the face makes him look older than he is, but thats a consequence of the medium. Its getting so i'm enjoying skinning the face more than the costume itself. This one took maybe two hours, I had to waste a lot of time finding appropriate reference pics.

EDIT:

A WIP pic of the character as he stands

The_Baroness

love your faces.... incredible

BentonGrey

Yes yes....incredible.......just think what that power could do if harnessed for good........ ;)

Seriously though Carr, these last two have been remarkable!

Deaths Jester

Ohh...ye really have been working on the faces, mate.  Really great work...very realistic at that.

No way! Let it inspire you. With some practice and work, you can get there, too.

Carravaggio, those faces are incredible. I particularly love the hair on the David Beckham-inspired face, it looks absolutely perfect.

So, um, let me know if you're ever going to release some skin bases. ;)

The_Baroness

or a face skinning tutorial *hint hint*

Carravaggio

Anyone see a resemblance?  :P

laughing paradox

You are truly talented, man. It's amazing seeing the original source along with your work side by side and how it has translated.

Keep up the good work.

Arilou Laleelay

Those faces look really impressive. They remind me of the style used by the
Bitmap Brothers (Speedball, Chaos Engine; old Amiga games).

Nice!

Blkcasanova247

Sean Bean! Why didn't I see it before? And I don't know Ips...I got the Beckham one right away.

BentonGrey

A very nice likeness Carr!

BatWing

its boromir!
i win the game! :D

billdamn22

What can be said about your faces that hasn't already been said? You got skills.

Carravaggio

Thanks guys.

Texas Ranger, the bulletproof oldschool hero of the Lone Star State. Few details/extras need fine tuning, but I thought I'd share. I think he's neat :)
Any Texans on the forum?

UnfluffyBunny

I like it, but I can't help but think he needs something in the white section around the abdomen, or the collar needs to be higher than the low shoulder cut you have now, because currently he kinda looks like he's wearing a boob tube

Well, I have lived in Texas for about 7 years (off and on...long story) and was actually born in TX....so I guess I qualify.  And it's funny, I've actually thought a patriotic Texan hero, in some ways, makes MORE sense then a patriotic US hero.  Don't get me wrong I dig Cap America and the rest!  But if you've been to Texas you'll know what I mean.  I'm not sure there is another State in the whole US in which whose residents are more proud of being citizens of their respective State.  For example, I grew up in Southern California, and believe me, people in SoCal could care less about being Californians per se'.  A friend of mine described this pride as being "Statriotic" which made be laugh.  It's VERY common to see businesses and residences and cars displaying the Texas flag and State of Texas silouette day-in-day-out (iow, not just on Texas holidays).  So yeah, a "Statriotic" Texan hero is entirely appropriate.  And as a note, if you want to be stereo-typical, this hero would probably be mega obnoxious/overconfident/overbearing and yet have a heart of gold and be truly heroic.  He would probably be something like Walker Texas Ranger...just a little more obnoxious.  Whooohhhhhaaaa!!!!

And it's odd too, that I was actually mowing my lawn yesterday thinking that it would be cool to have a Texan version of Cap Am and have his name be something with the name "Ranger" in it.  Guess I was just tapping into that vibe.  :)

Well, just my spare change.

Btw, I'll comment on the actual skin soon.  My work blocks certain sites (and the one that this image is hosted on is blocked).  :(  But I can't wait to see it!  I'm sure the face rocks!  ;)

Carravaggio

Glad you like it Doc...naturally while i was skinning him, four other Texan heroes were formed in my mind...on the  list they go

Most of your comments echo my thinking. I reckon Ranger here has that old world 'gentle veteran cowboy' thing going on, the soft spoken veteran that everyone heeds. The over-confident personality would suit another of the Texans.
Voicepacks for these guys would be a blast  ^_^

A quick rundown:

Texas Ranger, Leader, Luke Cage level powers, old school vet hero

Lone Star: Female energist and resident flier

Medicine man: martian manhunter/shaman type with a range of versatile powers

Twister: Aerokineticist, natch

Outlaw: Wields haunted pistols of an old west outlaw. They gained sentience in rebellion of all the blood they were forced to spill, and now fight evil, but refuse to kill (so they shoot magic non lethal bullets, ala Tombstone)

Man, Carr, I really love your original characters. They're just always so well thought out. On a side note, did you ever release  your alternate Batman?
