I'm loving these characters Carravaggio, great work as always.

laughing paradox

It would be awesome if someone did a carnival-styled map for  :ffvstr: to go with these awesome Circus meshes.

Carravaggio

Hey guys, just a quick bit of self-promotion to cross over into the release thread: the Church is complete and ready to be downloaded from my Yahoo group. Check'em out!
Above is a pic of the Cardinal as he 'deposes' a particularly nasty, genocidal dictator. Don't mess with this guy!

Edited for spelling. i need to type slower
Also, it occured to me a moment ago that 'deposes' sounds like the Cardinal might have in fact killed this guy. He didn't and wouldn't, it would be completely hypocritical of him to do that. When I wrote deposes, I actually meant that :)

Is that one of your own pictures? 'Cause it's fantastic.

Geez Carr...pick a project a stick with it, mon ami...ye are about as bad as I am with jumpin' from project to project...course that's not always a bad thing.  Great work up to now...can't wait to see what else comes about.

Dude,

I just read this thread.....jeez!  You're on fire!

Black super heroes without the word "Black" in their names?????  Give that man a prize!

I'll start trolling for objects.  If I can find a good circus tent, I'll do a "Killer Clowns from Outer Space" map!

Keep up the good work!

JM

PS--Are the circus characters done yet?

yep, its a carravaggio original! i think it shows the size and presence of the Cardinal. i mean, this is a BIG guy, powers aside. then add the fact he can throw tanks around like they are toys and you can imagine what he'd look like in battle, defeating an entire human army single handedly

Yeah, i got the attention span of a pigeon. i get part way thru something and get a new idea, then go off on that tangent. Once this new lot of heroes are done, its strictly the circus, then another group of bad guys i've got in mind...when im done there will be no shortage of cannon fodder around!

I dont feel the need to beat anyone over the head with the black thing, i mean black goliath and black lightning? black panther? its kinda gratuitous. just as there are teams of white, latino and asiatic characters, so likely will there be a team of black characters. glad you like the names, i'm pretty happy with them. the hawkman character is going with the handle of 'Garuda'. wiki it if you need to  :P
A circus style level would rock, especially as i want to make an EZScript set of missions for the circus when they are done, and that would serve as a great end-game level where you finally confront the masterminds of the whole debacle.
PS the circus skins are nowhere near done! i've only completed four or five, that leaves at least ten to go!
Just for your interest they include...
*more clowns and acrobats/tumblers
*snake charmer, with musical status attacks and snake pets
*fortune teller with floating crystal ball minions
*firebreathers
*a variety of sideshow freaks
*roustabouts/thugs
*animal tamer/wildman with attack lions
*the tattooed man
*the fat lady
*worlds tallest man
*and an unnamed mastermind...
already done are some clowns, tumblers, the ringleader the harliquins and the strongman (almost)

i 4gotted about the redeemer!

The Pwime

i was gonna finish him!  I swear!

then i started something else to take a break, and by the time i was done, my skinning talent was WAAAAAY better than it was when I was skinning Redeemer...to the point where it only made sense to start it again.

then i started something else, and then something else, and then the Predator...and now it seems I'm slowly forgetting about the Predator as well.

It seems it's always the mainstream skins i lose interest in...

what are u interested in now? avatar? original?

Dr.Volt

Wow!  Has this thread ever grown overnight!  I'm finally getting around to commenting...so let's see:

Carr, man....all of these ROCK!  Pretty much just agreeing with everyone else's comments.  Fantastic faces!  Love the carnival theme concept for a villain group.  The clown in WAYYYYYYYY  creepy....  More villains, especially original and creative ones, and soooooooo needed.  And the Church of course, is very cool.  And yeah, GREAT drawing of the Cardinal!  I really like the look of the African American speedster.  Great idea for the hawkman'ish hero.  I'll be looking forward to what comes next!

avatars are basically ALL I can really actually do.  Mainstream I lose focus on, and my originals I always end up half-assing.

and now to undo this thread-jacking...

I'm really, really digging that Cardinal pic, Carr.  Really strong pose, and great work on arms and face especially.

I just started getting the members of The Church in-game, and I've gotta say, not only do they look great, but they're really fun to play with too.

carravagio's faces he makes are looking really realistic now and they're great really

The Outsider!
Brought to our world in the wake of a failed experiment into mass commercial teleportation, he found himself at odds with the strange new world around him. Finding allies who were willing to help him he discovered this world was in dire need of champions to protect the innocent, a task he felt ably equipped for.
After several years fighting alongside his allies the Outsider made a startling discovery. He wasn't an alien from some distant planet, he was a human being from a time so far in the future they had evolved incredible powers, and the twenty-first century was long forgotten!
In game he will play much like the Timmverse Martian Manhunter, low on physical powers, more of a swiss army knife of characters. He will favour status changes and psychic attacks over brute force. He is more likely to dodge or phase through bullets than deflect them.
Needs some touch ups, but design wise is essentially done. C&C welcome etc. thanks for checking in

and cos i can...an early WIP of The Perfection!
Hailing from a technologically advanced society hidden in deepest Africa, the Perfection has superior strength, speed and reflexes, as well as durability to high levels of trauma. She also wears a pair of gold bracers that are the advanced weapon systems of her culture.
Despite all the advances this hidden culture has made, it possesses one great flaw: it is a heavy Patriachal society, where women have next to no rights. the men in this society see women as highly inferior, incapable of any achievement. Of course the ruling men keep all knowledge to themselves, depriving the women of equality. Without access to education and resources women can learn nothing, and so they produce nothing, therefore the men have set up a system that 'proves' their point.
Frustrated by the lack of ambition and ability in their women, the men of thi ssociety went about creating a 'perfect' woman, using their advanced science to grow a real living being. The plan was if successful, if she could prove an equal to the men, more would be produced, and a super race would be born.
unfortunately for these noobs, this gal learned fast, real fast. faster than the men could teach. She was strong and tough, and mastered their martial styles in a short period of time. whatever task they set her, she accomplished. She did this so well the men got nervous. they wondered if she wasn't a little too perfect.
the when she found out why she was created, naturally she went AWOL. she laid waste to the culture, defeating their armies single handedly.
Yet when she attempted to empowe the women, to give them a say in their lives, the right to make desicions and be citizens, they refused to do so. years of being downtrodden had convinced them that they were inferior. Disgusted at their beliefs, she left the lawed society to its own problems and set out to explore the world.

The Deep

Exiled from a society that exists in the deepst darkest trenches of the ocean, before his disgrace he was a high priest for an ancient sea god (something akin to Cthulhu), and as such was its avatar in the mortal realm. It is unknown what he did to be exiled, or how his people managed to be rid of him, simply becasue of how powerful he is. Either he left of his own volition or his people had some sort of mystical/theological manner in which to force him out of their world.
In any event he was the first of his kind to leave the deep cities, and he took with him a fraction of his once godly power. although far weaker than he once was, he is no lightweight able to keep up with the other members of his team.
His powers include an empathy to the ways of all things in the ocean or nearby bodies of water. that includes sea life, as well as any other living entity that is currently in water within his reange of awareness. All sea life bends to his will, and he has been seen commanding bizarre submarine humanoids more fish than man.
The Deep is superstrong and highly resilient to harm, able to withstand massive pressure and trauma (a side effect of evolving on the ocean floor). He is able to control water, forming it into other shapes, or using it as a destructive force. He claims to be able to 'strike with all the weight of all the oceans in the world.' this remains to be seen. He is able to detect bodies of water as small as a glass of liquid up to an ocean by some sort of sixth sense that is not reliant on his other senses.
He can swim at breakneck speeds, and when out of water he can fly, but creating an area of liquid around him, then levitating the liquid, and himself in the process. this rather looks like he is swimming through the air. The Deep can also create water from seemingly thin air. Even in arid climates he can create water. He claims the water comes from "the Deep', a submerged dimension thosands of times larger than ours where his god dwells.
Even tho he has been exiled, it seems that The Deep retains some of the power he had before. He does not begrudge his god for his loss in stnading, rather he seems to blame himself and withstands all these events as if it were some sort of test or trial, one that he believes if he passes, will see him in his god's good graces once again.
*******************
its early days yet, but with this preview you can now see the entire team, to one extent or another. C&C welcome, even at this early stage. ill not be keeping his tentacle beard green by the way. i'm aiming for a 'davy jones' look from POTC 2.

Dr.Volt

Love this story behined The Deep!  The backgrounds of these supers are just as excellent as the skins are.  Keep on going, Carr....you're red hot!

After watching the Incredibles again i had a look thru all the bonus stuff and came across that cool menu with all the supers profiles. then of course i had to give it a go.
it was a nice coincidence, cos it ties into my next skinning project, a massive organisation that is collecting information on transhumans everywhere, but for what purpose?
Now that i have a template made up, its pretty easy to make these, so anyone feel like having their avatar's profile done? PM me similar info to the stuff you see above and i'll do it. at the risk of aiming too high i'll do the first five that PM me. if i don't get five...or one...then its just less work for me :)
i'll need a screenshot too. make it a full body, and of a decent res and size, ill shrink it and resize it as i see fit. dont send a grainy lil headshot. and dont just direct me to where i can get a pic. if you want it, you can do some work.
ok, i know its not a skin, but i'm not making a whole new thread somewhere else for one picture.
Any C&C on how to make it better, or is it perfect?  :P

update of the perfection, trying to make her less plain. i like the differences between the white futuristic jumpsuit and the tribal nose ring and neck bands, a feel of both ultra modern and old world styles.
need shair detail, and i thin i need to skope on some different wristbands, those ones aren't mapped well to show detail.
C&C welcome etc.

not meaning to threadjack, but I believe I trump this debate with 22 skins, 15 meshes, 4 animation sets, 8fx and a website update

Carravaggio

just thought i'd show you guys some more of the first few skins i did. i can't believe i found these...this is from back in the days when we had only one base skin (gryphon) and highlights and seams were unthought of.

Xenolith

I think those golden arm bands need to have some type of "engraved" old world type stuff on them.  Maybe animal symbols or something.  Sorta like some type of greek urn or egyptian heiroglyph (e.g. Fist of Konshu Moon Knight??).  I think it would really pop.  I see where  you are going with it.  I like it.

Fascinating idea!  Perhaps kind of like a Dark Conspiracy, "big brother" type organization?  I like it!  There are many such stories that come to mind from popular media...it seems that Marvels current Civil War series has an element of that.  There is just something very appealing about a story of a secret, spy type organization that knows a great deal about the histories of characters, is tracking and manipulating them.  There is also many other stories outside of  Supers type stories...such as Alias, 24, Lost etc.  The overarching mystery and suspense of such story lines work very, very well.  I wonder though what type of operatives such an organization would have?

Mayhaps...but me collection of stuff to do just keeps growing....so I'll be near ye collection soon.

As for Carr's old skins...I'm truly amazed ye found those as well....I mean, I don't even know where me first collection of skins are...if their even out on the web anymore even.  Boy, those though bring me back to the early days...when skinning FF was in it's infancy and everything was so new...ahhh...those were some days....course animated textures weren't around then...so maybe they weren't all they were cracked up to be.  :P
