Carravaggio

Night-god, avatar of the night!
wracked by guilt over the violent death of his parents, the youth who would be Night-god used his considerable inheritance to delve into the occult, desperate for a way to wreak vengeance on the criminals who preyed on the innocent.
During one such occult session he happened upon the ghost of Nightking, the mysterious golden age hero who had disappeared decades before. His passion stirred by the thirst for vengeance that the mortal man displayed, Nightking offered all his otherworldly power to the young man.
The result was Nightgod.
Far more powerful than his predecessor, during the hours from twilight to dawn, no man can escape the god of the night...

More a bump than a real preview, this skin has a fair bit of work to go, im not really sure about it at all. i dont know if i like the blue, or the design, etc.
sigh, skinning has been real tough lately, dunno why, i'm finding it hard to get motivated...

thats the Nightking, in case you guys had never seen him at NPI...

Shazam

Hi Carr!
Nice to see you're still plugging away there. The skins look good, only thing that doesn't look quite right to me is the armour on Night God's forearms look flat and dark (assuming it's armour? otherwise ignore me). I can see you've put highlights on them but they look like white squiggles as opposed to actual reflections. The bars on the helmet could do with looking more metallic also. Design wise? As always looking good.
I know where your coming from with motivation. I re-skinned my avatar thinking it would get me skinning more but as you say, it just seems so difficult these days, lol

Doctor TOC

I just downloaded the Church pack, and I'm really digging these characters. Not only do they look great, but the character descriptions are excellent too. Nice to see characters embodying the positive aspects of faith.

Carravaggio

hey i got motivated again.
funny how it happened.
i was playing GW and found a rare item that had a cool name. i thought the name would make a good hero name, so i drew a sketch, which turned into a skin design that i really want to skin. However its not much sense to start a whole new skin (and skope) when i have a bunch still not finished, so i spent an hour fixing this last one up.
it still got a bit to go, but im a lot happier with it.
C&C welcome.
the skinning on the eagle belt buckle is not mine (shame cos its quite good), i will replace it before the skin is released. needs bracers to be skinned. i'm also thinking about blacking out his eyes and upper face so the visor appears to be concelaing his features, rather than the batman eyes you can currently see through it.
also thinking about some shoulderpads just to bulk him up a bit. and spikey ears things

UnkoMan

I was going to say the buckle was very nice... Ha, I'm sure you'll do a great job on it too though.

I think the blacked out eyes would be a good idea.

As for the skin itself... C'mon. It's great. What can I even say beyond that? I love it.

Helix

Awesome skin! What mesh is that on?

detourne_me

Glad you got motivated!  this rocks ike! love the buckle too! did it come from judge dredd?
i think the face plate could use a bit more refl, or something that could differentiate it from the rest of the helkmet (or my eyes are probly tired...)

murs47

that looks like it's coming along nicely. I agree on adding some reflection to the mask/visor it'll make it look less dull and help it stand out more. great looking skin so far, I'm more then sure the final will be spectacular!

Lunarman

That's a fantastic skin! What was the name of the item ( it wasn't Sundering Crystaline Sword of Fortitude was it ;) ? )

Deaths Jester

I say black out under the visor and then for that really eerie effect go with glowing eyes.  I mean he is the Night God after all.   ;)

BatWing

wow man it's all pimped out man

Toxic_J

Nice work Carravaggio, it's good to hear you're motivated again. It's funny how GW got you motivated as all it seems to do for me is take my mind away from skinning.

Dr.Volt

Carr, as usual, great work!  This skin looks even better than before!  I very much like the segments on the costume and...yes...the belt buckle.  I would agree with Death's Jester, it would be good to see his eyes shining forth in intensity.  And maybe the visor is in the way...I don't know.  I'm just a sucker for the "firey-eyes" effect.

Oh...and it's great to see you back on the proverbial horse.  Can't keep a good man down!

Reepicheep

I had to take the time to look at this thread.

You really have done some fantastic work in here. From the beginning, you've had some really nice designs.

Tomato

Dude, that's awesome. Can't wait to see what it looks like finished

Revenant

I agree with the tomato  ^_^

Thanks, its in Tommyboy's Prometheus mesh with some liberal hexing involved.

Yeah i nicked the buckle from the front of Dredd's bike. I'll have a go at messing with relf and see if i get a better result. thanks for looking in.

Actually the item was a green elementalist staff called...

The Stormcaller!

For those who didn't see the original pic tha got these characters underway...

A re-imagining of three very popular Marvel characters to offset the previous re-imagining of the JLA archetypes. The other two are still in the early skinning stages, but the 'skoped meshes are done.
Stormcaller needs his boots, some more details on his harness and reskinning of the hammers, but he is just about done.
Next: the Technocrat!
Thanks for checking in everyone, more on the way (I got called into work, there goes my day of skinning! Damn you EB Games!)

The Pwime

that's looking awesome already, Carr!  ^_^  I can't wait to see the other two.

HumanTon

 I'm looking forward to seeing those guys in the game!

Lunarman

Well, I'm glad it wasn't The Ugly Stick ;)

Great work on that skin so far!

Dr.Volt

Y'know, the difficult thing is to keep coming up with exceptional adjectives to describe work like this.  Very impressive!!!  Keep the creative juices flowing!!  Good to see them!

Btw, I know that Storm Caller is likely the other dimensioal version of Thor.  But he also seems to tie in with the very old, African American legend of John Henry.  Very cool, man!

Heck, I'm just glad it wasn't The Yakslapper!

Haljack

Looking good but technocrat looks a bit too much like Iron Man mark 1 with lights but then again I suppose there is only so much you can do with a man in iron suit

djfredski

Carravaggio

just needs some details, especially on his harnedd etc. but aside from that The Stormcaller is just about done!
Big thanks to Revenant for his 'skoping help, as well as permission to use the textures from his Black Bolt Black Lightning skin!

Next: The Homelander!

still very early days, i hope to get this one done tonight when i get home.

Thanks to everyone who looked in.

Podmark

Ok that guy with the hammers is totally cool! Where were the shin guard/boots from?

Doctor TOC

The Homelander kicks arse! Love the use of the Judge Dredd elements, particularly the helmet. Very nice. Stormcaller is very slick, though I actually prefer him without the shin guards. Great stuff!

Carravaggio

Homelander WIP.

I stol...uh, SKOPED them from Tommyboy's Ultimate Ironman, but i had to enlarge them a bit, Stormcaller has big calves...

Now its time for sleep, the time 1:40 am, goodnight FR

Figure Fan

Ooh! I'm loving the original character designs.
