I really like the face on the Shield. I don't know about Blaster though. It may be the white but his costume doesn't really pop.

My suggestion for Vanquish would be to modify your highlights on the red to a bas red rather then a white. The more faded red with white highlights works for The Shield, but I think a brighter red might give Vanquish that extra little pop his outfit needs

Im gonna agree with Tomato.....try not making the base of his outfit white/gray. Try a brighter, lighter shade of red or blue.

As for the female hero.....I heard earlier on the thread to maybe call her Fleur de Lis....I'm gonna say nay to that because so far all the heroes have that symbol in their costumes so it wouldn't stand out enough. (imo)

Yeah, a person who could transform into a metal gridded giant? That'd be friggin' sweet! Also, you totally gotta make a character some kind of poet beatnik artsy type.

But guess what! I'm lovin' the Frenchies. Being somewhat French myself, I've always been fond of a bit of francophonetic action. These guys look to be a rad team. I really really enjoy how you are making these different teams for different parts of the world. I could imagine a world wide crisis sort of mod involving all of them, if everybody weren't so dern busy doin' other things alla the time.

Anyone guess who I based this dashing chap off? I wanted to have the French team done by tonight, but that wont happen now :(  Still i hope to have three or four of them done before slumber beckons.
No chance of that happening now. More to come in a day or tow, here is an update of Vanquish. I think the extra lines on his chest add a lot more depth.

I'm really liking the Vanquish design. Kinda reminds me of Vindicator of Alpha Flight or one of the international Ultimates heroes.

The flag to be used as the banner for the French heroes page of my site (projected completion date, 2010 :( )



Just coloured a rectangle equal parts of blue, white and red, laid a parchment texture over it, reduced its opacity, threw a blood splatter on it, changes that to brown, reduced its opacity then gaussian blurred the colours a bit.
Looks a treat, I think.



And another update for Vanquish. THB I think this is him done. I'm hearing a lot of people say he doesn't 'pop'. AT the same time Podmark mentioned that he is reminiscent of the Ultimates costumes which is what I am aiming for with these French heroes, that modern look. In my mind the Ultimates never 'popped' they were subdued versions of their larger than life 616 counterparts. One only needs to look at Ironman and Thor; their ultimate versions are very bland compared to them. Modern, realistic, sure and cool, no doubt, but nothing says Thor like a winged viking helmet and red cape :)
So in summation these guys might not pop, that's cool they aren't really mean to :) They are meant to look sleek, modern, embodiments of the flag of the nation they represent and protect.
Thanks for ALL the comments guys it gave me plenty to work with. I made the white whiter, the red 'redder' adn the blue darker. I added the symbol as well, despite not wanting to initially, but the extra detail it provides (and acting as a focal point) really finished it off for me.

BTW, the above face was based off Orlando Bloom, I thought the facial hair was a dead give away  :P

The son of the original French hero, the Inheritor is being groomed by his father to become the next national hero of France.  While he enjoys the benefits of celebrity, the inheritor is always aware of the great responsibility placed on him, and as such is a lil too serious sometimes.

...wow!  stunning.  i actually really love the hair being used.  its not an overused mesh piece, and i think it adds character depth,  his face is visible because of it.  and yeah, whaty a feace.  in your first preview i was thinking johnny depp. but, well i could never imagine french charactewrs to be so cool.

I'd love to see Vanquish with a subtle Statesman-esque mask, but if you're done you're done.

The Inheritor... The fingerless gloves with the hair make him look like a bit of a fancy pants hobo to me. Like a bum artist type. It actually works perfectly for a young French hero. The red boots throw me off a bit, though. It's not even that they are red, it's more of how the blue and white go into them. It just looks odd for some reason. Face is fantastic, of course.

New and (seriously) final member of the Church. I had some good reason for doing this, but I'm a bit hazy on it now. This character is going to be based heavily off me, and while he wont act as a replacement for my Avatar, I guess this is more who I would be with powers (cos I sure wouldn't become a dictator like my AV)
I like this design best out of ALL the Church skins i have done, personally. I used Ren's Invincible mesh body cos...well I'm 5' 10" and lean. Didn't think male heavy would cut it :P

Thanks for the encouragement guys. the job hunt is for a teaching position, which makes it even harder than normal  :unsure:. If I'm very lucky the government will select me for a permanent position and I won't even have to go looking for one. Surely somewhere in a country of 20 million people they need a graduate male primary teacher...(I think that's elementary school to all the Americans on the forum)

Anyway I just thought some of you might like to see how I work. I try to share any techniques or method when I can (or when asked) as I figure the more everyone knows, the greater number of quality skins we can all have to play with.


Thats a face I'm working on for the Virgin. I went with Britney (sp?) cos I figure she is still the most recognisable of all those diva brats. I place the photo on the skin and really just paint it as close as I can to who I'm working from. As I never get an exact likeness it leaves me with a face that is reminiscent of someone but not so close it's distracting (as evidenced by the face based on Orlando Bloom a few pages back).
