And here is a WIP of the man himself...the first look at a team of Spanish superheroes: El Campeador!

Blkcasanova247

NICE! Very...very cool! I can't wait to see the rest of the team. I guess I only have one critique and that be the Deathstroke torso "bandolier" part...It's so big that I think it takes away from the design in the chest....I'd change it to something smaller maybe...or nix it.

The_Baroness

just a suggestion... "El Campeador" le is too french... and if you don't mind i can help with the names since spanish is my first tongue :)

Now he looks really really cool :) great work

Carravaggio

Doesn't it translate, in Spanish, to 'The victor"? One who is victorious?

The_Baroness

mmmmhmmm yes could be "el victorioso" but  "El campeador" made a reference to El Cid... Ruy Diaz de Vivar... so wouldd be more appropiate in my opinion.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/El_Cid

miguelyanke

baroness, por aki al cid se le conoce más como "el campeador" que como cid... así que cuando carvaggio me preguntó le dije q si, que dejase el campeador.

The_Baroness

thats what i am saying... El Campeador seems a more fitting name

A eso me refiero, el campeador es un mejor nombre ya que se relaciona con una figura historica

Carravaggio

I chose El Campeador based upon the El Cid connection, the idea of a master of military and combat tactics. Then a friend told me it also translates to the victor, which I thought appropriate for the Batman/Captain America slot on the team. That wiki article also mentions Campeador is a latin word for a master stretegist, which is why I thought it was so fitting. This guy is meant to be a master fighter and strategist, a paragon of human prowess, but not the reincarnation of El Cid, or his descendant. Do the majority of Spaniardsm, so far as you can speak for them as a people, think of El Cid when they hear El Campeador?
Thanks for your input.

Next up, El Castillo...The Castle!

A lot of the Spanish team I originally designed based upon the coat of arms and the imagery found on it. More to come. As usual, the gals on the team will probably be made last. They are always harder to skin

:D Ah the language barrier, bursting at the seams with potential for amusing miscommunications. This one is my fault, i originally typed Le Campeador instead of El Campeador. His name was always meant to be El Campeador. I'm glad I have two genuine Spaniards to watch my language faux pas  :P

The_Baroness

Excellent :) nice skin.. and it is funny but i am more comfortable doing female skins... though i still need to learn a lot more :) and this only reinforce my idea of making a chilean superteam :P oh well... maybe i post some ideas for them

your work is not only good Car... it gets better and better

Amazo Version 2.2

el campeador is killer , excellent job on the face.   el castillo is well done as well.   great use uf colors.

miguelyanke

i'm with my chilean friends Your face's works annoying me!!!!

Is his face taken from Antonio Banderas?

Deaths Jester

I like El Campeador but I think his bandana mask needs something on the frontal section of the head, otherwise it looks extremely flat and unrealistic.  As for El Castillo, really great job...looks like ye've been practicing some more on ye faces too.

Oh and seeing as I'm here and posting this message anyways, what do ye think about me redoing Stahlhelm on Ren's new WWII_Cap'n America mesh?  I mean it fits the time period better but I'm unsure if Stahlhelm really needs a body/mesh change.

Dr.Volt

I love both these skins.  Their costume designs are excellent.  Love the face work on both of the as well...especially on El Campeador.  I also love the smug and slightly bored look on El Castillo's face.  Great work on these man!

Thanks Doc. El Castillo should look smug and a little bored, for him, "it is all too easy!"

Nope, some random Spaniard, but now I have a heap of references, thanks to you :)

Definitely. I know very little about Chile and would enjoy learning a little through a resident superteam.

I reckon it looks great on the golden age cap mesh, that helm is very uniquely shaped, and suits his name 'Steelhelm'. I agree the new Ultimate ww2 Cap mesh is masterful, but I don't see a need to change (unless that kickstarts your skinning bug :P)
I looked at some other skins that use bandana type masks, and yeah, I'm lacking a separating highlight in the middle to show the volume of the object it covers. Cheers for the heads up.

herodad1

hey car, great stuff brother.how many different countries are you making teams of?

Carravaggio

No set number...I started with Russia in a collaboration with Aly Cat, then made the French team and an Italian hero. Then I saw the Spanish coat of arms and got a few ideas on who might make up a Spanish Team.

Although I guess to be honest I was working on an Australian team many years ago at first, which started this whol trend of mine. They will be the largest team of all, rounding out at three subgroups with a half a dozen members each.

I'll probably round out an Italian team to five members, as I will with the Spaniards and I have with the French. After that, who knows? Depends if anything takes my fancy.

I like making the national teams because they look unified and modern, and spandex is relatively easy to skin and make look good. Also you can do the JLA/Avengers analogue thing and almost make reimagined versions of your favourite characters.

If anyone has any ideas for other countries/teams they'd like to see, or even a one off hero from their country, let me know, and no promises, but I'll see what I can do.

vamp

Nice work man, your faces always amaze me.

Sorry i think i have a cold

Carravaggio

Well, hit me up with some facts, a flag and a few celebs from Puerto Rico, and if I get an idea, I'll put it on the list.

Cdub

OOH OOH OOH!!!!! PICK ME! PICK MY COUNTRY!!!

...................... Canada  (not MY country I just think it'd be interesting to see)

Carravaggio

I really don't think I could improve on the original...

Podmark

Carr I'm always in awe of your face and design work.

Carravaggio

Thanks, mate. I've gone from dreading making faces for skins to enjoying them the most, and i guess it shows.

A slight departure, a WIP of The Deep, the outcast ocean dwelling avatar of a dark primeval water god
Used Vertex's (back when he was bobby 69) adam warlock mesh and skoped it onto Ink's submariner mesh, added a few 'fins'.

Needs the gold symbol on his chest, and some recolouring in his armour bits

Dr.Volt

Wow!  Carr, The Deep looks great!  I remember when he had a sea weed beard (which I liked as well).  But I'm diggin' the fins under his arms and the rest.  Very nice work there!

Blkcasanova247

Nice work Carr....Hey...hows about a team from India? Or maybe...an Atlantian team to go along with or against this new character?

Dr.Volt

Hmmmm...and Atlantian team...now that is interesting!  How would you diversify their powers though?

I'm agrre with you. For this, I think that, after the Spanish team, we need an Italian team
