Well...Texan 'ere and I gotta say it seems a bit off to me to have a Patriotic texan...course being a non-patriotic type I guess that explains everything.  As for the skin. might I suggest adding a shadow on the head to illustrate the hat being worn.  Also I feel like he needs something around his stomach.  Not sure what though..it just seems really blank there.  Also the gloves seem to not match up with the skin (I'm talking about where the add-on flares match up with the hands).  Past that and the want to see a bit more texturing (What?!?!?!  I like textures on my skins nowadays...lol), not a bad start, mate.

You live in Texas!?!?!?

*flees to the border*

Back to the subject, I am not the most patriotic Texan, but it is still a very nice skin. The face reminds me of a certain actor, but i cant think of who....

Avalon

think you need a huge red stripe down his stomach and one star. They don't call it the Lone Star State for nuthin':

Give 'em some six shooters to boot! How about a lasso?
Rest look great. Love the big mustache.

herodad1

looks awsome carr.i had a kind of silly/strange character idea.since they roam through out texas;how about a big hulking powerhouse mutant or tech/armored character called ARMORDILLO.heavily armored, super strong, raking steel claws, and maybe built in weapons.

daglob

Lookjs good. As someone who has a character called Captain Alabama on his hard drive, I won't criticize the subject matter.

Dr.Volt

Wow...nice work on this one!  Now that I'm seeing him, I can't see him as overbearing at all.  He looks like a horse whisperer type guy.

Glad you like it Doc...naturally while i was skinning him, four other Texan heroes were formed in my mind...on the  list they go

Most of your comments echo my thinking. I reckon Ranger here has that old world 'gentle veteran cowboy' thing going on, the soft spoken veteran that everyone heeds. The over-confident personality would suit another of the Texans.
Voicepacks for these guys would be a blast  ^_^

A quick rundown:

Texas Ranger, Leader, Luke Cage level powers, old school vet hero

Lone Star: Female energist and resident flier

Medicine man: martian manhunter/shaman type with a range of versatile powers

Twister: Aerokineticist, natch

Outlaw: Wields haunted pistols of an old west outlaw. They gained sentience in rebellion of all the blood they were forced to spill, and now fight evil, but refuse to kill (so they shoot magic non lethal bullets, ala Tombstone)

Man, Carr, I really love your original characters. They're just always so well thought out. On a side note, did you ever release  your alternate Batman?

Here-here as to Carr's OC concepts!  They rock as much as his skins!

Lunarman

Very nice improvements you've made there Car. Massive difference between the two pics and the second is much much better, loving that collar :)

Ye are such an evil man!

AfghanAnt

The design is pretty straight forward but there is nothing wrong with that. I'm really looking forward to the Medicine Man.

jocke32

hey any plans on doing a scandinavian team ?that would be awsome

Carravaggio

No plans for Scandinavia at this point, but never say never!
The last two nations to go on the list to get team skins had people sending me info about their country's celebrities, landmarks, folklore and culture. Anyone wants a national team skin, send me a bunch of that stuff (pics and info, saves me doing the research :P) and if I get some ideas from it, I'll put them on the (ever-growing) list :)
Thanks for the additional comments and ideas, guys, got all the skopes for the Texans done, now for the pretty colours...

Tommy "Twister" Timms is a budding aerokineticist (he moves air ;) ) and the most recent recruit to Texas' superhuman team.

The whirlwind, nabbed from Rev's skoped Red Tornado, only appears during flight and hover animations, thanks to Ren's GL mesh; I pasted the FX onto the GL aura :) works a treat. Considering  making the twister brown, like dirt and debris. Thoughts?

More Texans in the works.

Xenolith

How about brownish red dirt?  Seems to be more typical of the Texas plains, from what I know.  Black looks pretty good though...it looks like he is stirring up topsoil and/or urban grime.

An early look at the skope for the Medicine Man

Took me hours to find a piece that could work as a leather thong for his necklace, finally happened upon the bridle on Tommyboy's horseriding Black Knight modern. I tell ya, without TB, most of the skopes we make either wouldn't exist, or would be less impressive than they are.

this skope uses Gren's Shaman as a base. I'm playing with the keys so he floats even when idle.

While not so good in a fist fight, the Medicine Man has powerful magic to draw upon, putting him in the upper classes of mystics in the US. In the rumble room I intend him to play like a cross between Mentor and Alchemiss.

UnkoMan

I love having the one or two characters on a team that don't even actually physically attack, yet still can be the crux of battle.

Medicine Man looks cool. I like the feathers. Changing the keyframes is easy, too, by the way. If you are using M25's tool. But you probably know that.

I like these Texan characters, but I've gotta ask... It isn't going to be a bunch of white people with the one token native american, who of course has to wear a traditional looking costume instead of spandex? Granted, I'm not actually from Texas, but the people I knew from there seemed more diverse than that.

Actually, that reminds me that I don't make nearly enough differently racial characters. Mostly just white and Indian, with a few black people tossed in here and there. I oughtta fix that.

AfghanAnt

Medicine man is just as amazing as I thought he would be.

When is any of these getting released?

Stunning as usual, Carr. I love this design for the Medicine Man.

Ohhh...a newbie going up against a professional criminal demon in Dust Devil...oh this aught to be interesting.  ;)

I can say that for the villians there will be a black and a Native American...not sure about what Car has in his group but the villians are representin'!

Yep, thats exactly what it is. I feel I have a diverse enough range of characters, I mean, I'm skinning people from a range of nations and religions, but superheroes and comic conventions often deal with cliches, archetypes and pastiches, this is one I will have to be allowed :)
Taking a page from Dr Manhatten's book, the Medicine Man is so powerful and long lived he hardly see the need for clothing, but wears the minimum to retain decorum for his teammates.

Uh...soon?
I'm still working on hosting issues/space. I know I'm way behind in my releases, in fact I haven't released even a single skin previewed in this entire thread (go ahead and check, I'll wait....
....
....
...see? Told you!)

I'm working on it, I would like to have released something, anything, by now.
I just hope you all think its worth the wait, I do :)

Thanks for the comments guys.

Outlaw! Possessed by haunted firearms used by a Texas desperado, he fights evil with bare knuckles, a fearsome stare and magic bullets that wound only the guilty!

Going to redo the alpha on the cape so its tattered like Tombstone's

Obviously uses Ren's incredible Vigilante_GA mesh, along with parts from TB and Gren.

I think the diversity point is a good one.  Texans are in deed very diverse.  Carr, if you want to reflect that diversity I would put at least one Latino/Hispanic on the team and maybe one African American.

Also, I am LOVING these skins!  Excellent, excellent job on Outlaw!  Maybe you could make him Hispanic?  ;)  And I really like Texas Twister and Medicine Man!  But, for some reason I'm not feeling Medicine Man's skulls.  They just seem out of place to me.  Most of what I've seen in Native American lore doesn't involve those kind of symbols.  That's more like South American or Polynesian.  Well, just my spare change as always.

And I join AA in asking....sooooooo...when do these get released???      ;)
