Pwime's Sketches and other Crap

I did another sketch of my favourite avatar design I made for myself, and since I sort of liked it, I decided I'd take a shot at colouring it.  I snapped a pic with my digital camera, and then...well...coloured it.

So uh, please ignore the rest of the legs below the knees.  They turned out OK in the sketch (which i may post), but I got super lazy and half-assed them while colouring it, so you have an absolutely brutal, jagged-y blob of calfs/feet.

UnkoMan

And you thought you couldn't do it.
Dude, it looks sweet. His white chest piece is slightly misaligned. To the point of noticeability. I understand it, pose wise, but I find some things just look better when you fake them. I would probably just use a straight line on the left side there. At least not such a sharp bend.

Man, the hand effects? Awesome. Can I ask what you did to them? (then it ends up being something really simple...)

The Pwime

the chest piece was another colouring error.  I accidently drew the white part in two sections at first, then realized "crap, that's not how the design goes," so i tried to ignore the line in between them, but it got it all crooked.

It'll be a really easy fix though.  All the highlights, shadows, and muscle detail are on seperate layers, so all I have to do is add the the base layer.

UnfluffyBunny

strong pose and a good sense of proportion :)

Kitt Basher

looks really nice ... and i like this version of your av a lot!  Good work.

Here's some different stuff: photomanips!

I was in Niagara Falls this friday, and we made good use of the environment.  Now I'm going crazy with Photoshop.

First off:  I added a beard to myself, adjusted the contrast, and slapped that gold/brown tone over the image to get that Sparta-riffic feel.

Second pic:  I took a picture of my friend on a bike and prowled google for a good picture of a skull.  I then re-sized and modified the hell out of the poor skull (10 minutes of skewing, rotating, and adjusting contrasts).  Next, I worked on about three layers of flames, and then began erasing parts of the skull and fire so that a portion of my friends face was visible, as if he was just finishing the transformation.

Looking back, I think that not only could I have done a better job on the flames, but i could've also added more of them (wheels, hands).

Tell me what you think, guys.  ^_^

EDIT:  The jpg format absolutely butchered the quality on the Ghost Rider pic, I should add...the flames looked far more crisp before.  I'll try to re-upload in a different format.

UnkoMan

Eh, I don't think the flames look so bad at all. They actually look pretty sweet. A looser definition is better with fire, if you ask me. It don't got none o' those harsh lines.
This is pretty sweet stuff, really. Your photoshop-fu is strong.

The Pwime

back to the pencil, pen and paper in the middle of classtime!  this time, I bring you an (unintentionally) somewhat cartoony Rorschach, inspired by DJ's awesome skin and the new movie we're all hearing about.

I sincerely apologize for the letters (i BLOW with letters, never have been able to do them well) and moreso for the hard to distinguish pattern on his mask.  I really need to stop using my digital camera to snap shots of these, and invest in a scanner.

Glitch Girl

Lettering is why they invented TruType fonts Pwine.  ;)

Not bad.  I like the "spartanizing" you did to that one photo.  Look nearly seamless.  I like your drawings too, though I think they'd look better if they were cleaned up a bit like your first image.  The colors on that one are very sharp.

The Pwime

I was actually pondering whether or not I should colour Rorschach...

*ponders some more*

Here's another avatar concept (still WIP) I came up with, and I'm hoping to skin it on a heavily modified version of Gren's Juggernaut.

I say hoping because i'm feeling a little hesitant to try and skin the avatar of one of the best skinners in the community, who could out-do everything I have and ever will skin while blindfolded.

But yeah, this is basically the "Hulkbuster" armor equivalent for C6.  I'm thinking that it moves really clunky and slowly on ground, but has some serious protection going for it, and some other features that would attribute to it's massive size: incredible strength, flight at incredible speeds (some parts are huge because they may store massive jets), and some kind of magnetic forcefield/manipulation.  Ideal for striking fear into the hearts of some villains, and disposing of military vehicles with ease.  I'm thinking that his blank arm should be a cannon of some sort.

zuludelta

Neat C6 Hulkbuster armour you got there. Seeing as how you're planning to skin this design eventually, I think it would be a good idea to start incorporating elements of whatever mesh it is you're going to use in the design and planning, might save you a bit of time and effort... you don't want to be going back and fiddling with the design on-the-fly once you start skinning and realize that some elements of the initial concept aren't do-able on the mesh or via hex editing.

it looks like anti unko slapped unko in the face or something
great sketches

The Pwime

Please, ignore the quality and lack of effort in this sketch.  I simply doodled this in about a minute so that I would have my ideas on paper, and wouldn't forget them.

To make up for it, here's a sketch I made of a close-up of the above characters face.  I put a bit more effort into this one:

Can you guess who it is?  :P

And lastly, here's a quick doodle of Zivon I did, from memory (so if you catch all the mistakes and inconsistencies, you'll know why).  Why Zivon?  Because he has a sweet-looking avatar.  ;)

UnkoMan

You know... Zivon looks like he could be one of your avatar's many interpretations.

But, dude, is that Flesheater? Are you going to be skinning TUE's avatar as well? Hopefully, because I'd like to get a closer look at that crazy looking shirt design.

Speaking of crazy, there's your C6. Holy Cow! I actually love it without a detailed body underneath. Like crazy floating armour pieces and junk. I don't know if that's just because you didn't finish it though. Still, quite cool.

Reepicheep

Thats definately Flesheater. Just look at the butt. Gotta be his.

I love the face there. Looks really good. I wouldn't wanna mess with him.

Even though I do.

The Pwime

Unko:  Regarding C6, I actually haven't decided yet what I want under the armor.  It was either going to be a forcefield that would hold the pieces in place, or wires/cables and parts running along under the plates.

And yes!  It is indeed Flesheater, and I am going to be skinning him soon.  :D  The dark parts of the shirt design are likely to change, but they're going to be beveled rather than the red is, as they will now be some kind of bullet-proof armor.

The Pwime

here's a doodle i made last night that i decided to re-vamp in photoshop today.

The Pwime

it's a pretty one-sided fight.

Carravagio would crush Pwime in less than five minutes.

The Pwime

Here's what I've started working on now...

It's a base/skin for the jedi_trainer model in JK3.  The part that is 100% mine from scratch is the torso.  The metal arm is too, but it's nowhere near being finished at all.

Man, making a base is surprisingly easier than I thought...

UnkoMan

Surprisingly easier... you jerk. You're just good at it, is all. Anyhow it's looking now bad so far. A little dark and not that contrasty. Fine if it is suppose to be black, but why not make a base with a lighter colour? Easier to get to other tones.
Metal looks sweet. I'm sure it will be awesome when done.

The Pwime

It's the texture layer.  :P  The fabric darkens the actual base underneath, quite a bit.

Adjusting everything to get more contrast should be easy enough, so if I'm going to be making any more skins on this model, I'll do that for sure.

The metal arm...looks a hundred times better than that now.  It's got lot's of detail-y goodness.  I just have to figure out how to set up shaders in this game, to get some reflection and glow.

The Pwime

another update...  everything but the head, right hand, belt, and scarf...is mine.  ^_^

The Pwime

man.  i have a deepened respect for anyone who has ever made a base skin, or made a skin entirely from scratch.

i...feel so tired and empty now.  :P
