Tomato

I finished this one awhile ago, but I got sidetracked while making the pic... went from cruddy comp to a shiney laptop.

As for why I didn't post it here for so long (it's been up on my devart for awhile >.<) Well... it has to do with me having a problem opening up a new thread for one skin.

Nonono, I'm not quitting, at least as such. If I can ever get the programs I had back up in running I migh pound one out every once in awhile. But as of right now, my copy of disc one of FFvTTR is scratched to heck, which wouldn't bother me except that I can't get stuff like Ctool2 to install without it. Besides which, I'm planning on opening up a webcomic based on my Influx characters, so I probably won't have the time.

So yeah, while it's in incredibly bad taste, The entire purpose of this thread is to show off the final version of what's possibly my last skin for awhile. I will, however, be bugging you guys, about skins and other things.

Tomato

Welp, so much for that then >.< . I was able to get my ff1 cd to work, though barely, long enough to reinstall so even though I'm running on less-then-cutting-edge right now (people might disagree with me on this, but CTool 2 is a hell of alot eaisier to use) I'm back... sorta kinda. Again, I'm working on some other stuff, but given the fact that I only put out a skin a month or whatever anyway, it shouldn't be a big deal.

Anyway, I did put together a redo of an old skin, my Ch'nybe. Since I redid the design awhile back on devart, and because my original Ch'nybe skin was probably the worst of the ones I did since I stopped be so sucky, a new skin seemed appropriate.

Edit: Didn't realize the JPEG-ness was that bad, sh*t... I'll fix it later today or tomorrow after work.

BentonGrey

Sorry to hear that you might not be around as much, it's always a hit to the community when one of our artists stops producing, but good luck with your webcomic!

Lunarman

Amazing, that re-do it great! I always love your work, it has a really individual style.

Tomato

Here's a more permanent image, even though it's my hope to at least make some modifications to it before long. Here's the old version, since the old threads aren't up on here to look at.

I'll make a mini-bio later, right now I have homework, then work.

UnkoMan

The older one wasn't bad at all, but this one is definately much better. The darker body suit goes a lot better with the skin tone.

AfghanAnt

I really like the way this skin came out.

Tomato

Ok, as I promised, minor bios for the members of Influx, other then Tomato (which is up here)

Mahty- Most of Mahty's history is currently unknown due to her loss of memory. What she remembers, however, is ending up in the middle of a street just in time to stop a petty street thief. Her only memory of life before that is a single name, Mahteyah. Given the nature of her enhanced strength speed and agility, Mahty sought out information from other heroes, hoping that someone might recognise her. This search inevitably led to Influx.

Kid Rocket & Ch'nybe- According to himself, Peter Barrie has always been special. His ability to fly began at a very early age, and he's spent a great deal of effort improving his agility and speed during flight. Many other heroes can fly, but KR's master of the art is almost completely without peer.

Although they were from the same family, Darek Barrie did not inherit his younger brother's abilities. In order to compete with Peter, Darek sought other means of power, settling on the mystical arts. However, even though he had obtained flight through the use of those magics, Darek's jealosy had long since corrupted him. He sought his brother's death, and it wasn't until he had nearly achieved his goal when he realized how much he had been corrupted. He still maintains his rivalry with Peter however, and it was this that caused he and Kid Rocket to be there the day Influx formed.

Marauder- Although Yami Hiro dons the garb of a ninja, his attitude and style is far from those associated with Ninja. He did not train in some Buddist temple, or learn from, as he would say, "An old asian geezer." Instead, Marauder wears the guise of a ninja out of a sense of style, concerned more with presence then stealth. Still, despite his lack of formal training, Yami's skill with his sword outstrips all but the most learned swordsmen.

Tomato

I made a few modifications to some of my influx skins recently, and I wanted to see if anyone noticed the difference.

Tomato

As some of you may have already noticed, my next "project" or whatever, is doing avatar redesigns, specifically of people who I eithor admire or respect on these boards. The first is Pwime, who I personally believe will trump me as an artist soon (if he already hasn't >.>) if I don't pick up the pace a bit.

Obviously I'm not done as yet, I've got to do a bit of fixing up on the feet, then move on to the remaining extras and the hair. However, I'd like to see if there are any serious critiques before I move on.

The Pwime

I LOVE YOU I LOVE YOU I LOVE YOU I LOVE YOU I LOVE YOU I LOVE YOU I LOVE YOU I LOVE YOU I LOVE YOU I LOVE YOU I LOVE YOU I LOVE YOU I LOVE YOU I LOVE YOU I LOVE YOU I LOVE YOU I LOVE YOU I LOVE YOU I LOVE YOU I LOVE YOU I LOVE YOU I LOVE YOU I LOVE YOU I LOVE YOU I LOVE YOU!!!

my god, that's SO sweet looking.  the hair you picked is the perfect choice for my avatar, and the mask has a lot of depth to it, especially with the shadows around the eyes.

there's only one (yes, just one because the rest is perfect) thing that's bothering me a little, and I don't even think it's the skin itself, I think it's just the way I'm looking at it, but...is the mask on straight?

man, I can't wait to get this thing in game.

UnkoMan

I think it's more the tilt of the head really... But yeah, that hair is awesome.

It looks good and sorta ghostly really. I would say the feet could use a bit of highlighting, but other than that... This inspired me to get around to finish up my Pwime redesign.

Feet highlighted, hair textured, extras finished. Would say more but... I'm running on about 4 hours of sleep now.

gotta love that tomato mesh!
i have to say, that pwime mesh looks familiar.  did i do it?

Tomato

Meh, It's actually a Skoped mesh with some of my own pieces. Hair is Tommoyboy's, Leg bands are Ink's, Belt and armbands are mine, and the male_basic is irrational's... mostly. I modified the soles of the boots to where they match up with Male_belt, but whatever.

Yes yes, I'm not dead, it's just I've gone through like six different methods of skinning this thing.

But yes, this is still quite obviously not finished... ignore the head completely, and the metal section of the legs is only a placeholder, I plan on "redoing" the muscles as I go along.

The Pwime

dude, that is looking SO cool right now!  :o  Is that an actual vx mesh, or did you nifskope the spikes on, yourself?

You know...if you were absolutely insane...you could try animating the lava.  To be honest though, it would just be an extra little touch...and I can imagine how hard it is to skin Revenant as is, so it's up to you in the end.

Podmark

Very cool designs, and great skins! Good skoping job as well.

AfghanAnt

I look forward to this character. It reminds me of Rev's old avatar.

It should. It's supposed to be my design for him >P

Tomato

It's finally done! Now I can move onto skteching designs for even more of these things again >.>

Still, I had alot of fun with this. the techniques I used for it were rather different then what I normally use, and even the design itself forced me to move outside of my more "classic superhero/Fantasy" design realm.

As for the nest one I'm planning on... Unlike Revenant, Billdamn and Pwime, all of which were relatively close to the designs of their creators... my next creation promises to be something very... unique  :P

AfghanAnt

I like it but something about the gray comes off a little dull for some reason. Maybe adding some texture to it. It looks all magma flowing yet too smooth and polished.

Lunarman

I feel the same as AA. The lava is very cool, smooth and polished but the grey looks a little metal like, plain and textureless. Now I don't know what you were going for but if it's revs usual rock texture then there's loads of tuts out there for making very good rock textures in photoshop, just my 2p (cos I'm english) ;)

A very good skin still though, as always

Tomato

While I agree that, looking at it, it's a little blah... I wanted to clarify that it is indeed supposed to be metal. See, the idea was to take his two "power ideas," IE: Magnatism and fire control and smoosh them together. Revenant would have the ability to generate and control super-hot metal from within his own body.

However, I do agree about it being too smooth compared to the "redhot" areas. Any tips?

UnkoMan

Really you could just overlay a bit of rock texture from actual rocks.

But I'd be inclined to maybe try what Rev himself has used a number of times. Throw most of the texture onto the refl file. Check out his Iron Man skins and Ultimate Ares for examples of that. It comes out looking great. Also, hightening the contrast of the metal a bit might look alright. Of course then I think you're getting even closer to his original avatar, so maybe you don't want to do that.

But it does look pretty sweet. And those little spikes are an awesome extra touch.

Shade and light all of his metallic parts as if they were in fact separate pieces of metal and fade some of the red of the lava into the metal, also give it a rounded look to make it look more like molten metal.
