I like it.  Especially the pupils, that blue looks so amazing. My only comment is that the smile is still a little extreme, can the human mouth even sustain that angle of smile? But honestly I find FF meshes are really bad with smiles, at one angle it always looks bad.

AfghanAnt

I actually really like it. You have captures my avatar but also maintained your personal style.

Tomato

Grah, Life/work has kicked my butt this last week, but I've got the day off today so I can finish up those last few details on his left boot (highlighting the foot, doing the sole, etc.) and the glove (gold bands, sphere, etc.)

I had kind of a problem with the glow/relf layers, because I find it eaisier to edit the mapping in nifskope, and I fiddled with it instead of looking at the solution. And of course, my idiot brain decided that deleting the old texture node and making a new one as a good idea.

That... didn't help me. Ctool kept crashing, and I suspect FF would have if I'd bothered with it. I had to look at the texture for the cape and duplicate the settings for the new texture to get it right again.

Dude your skins are amazing. And your not an idiot. Just experimenting. The only way to always know where your going is to have gotten lost before.

Tomato

Mostly done, with the exception of the cape, which I wish to experiment on a bit. I have a preview ready, and will edit this post when I am not using a game system to access the internet >.> .

I love that AA skin!  It is so amazing, especially the blue eyes!  Very very cool :)

UnkoMan

Yep, it's fantastic. Tomato, you just keep getting better somehow.

MACH 3

Tomato, that AA is incredible! I really think that you've done a great work with that Av.

Not exactly the greatest cape ever, but considering it came from scratch, I'm ok with it. And, for anyone who cares, I hexed the emissive color to be SLIGHTY lighter. It doesn't seem to have any serious effect in-game, and it removes something that always gave me problems with the ctool version

Anyway, unless anyone has anything else, AA is officially done, I guess. Onto Syn!

Before anyone kills me, the only thing sofar that's actually mine as far as skinning is the cape, and even that's a placeholder until I finish the hex, which is mostly done. I want to play with some more capes, I've got the headdress thing to tack on, and I want to play with the arm in 3ds max a bit more (I fixed most of the arm clipping, but there's some serious clipping on the shoulder that bugs me.)

And Unko, there is a reason for that. I usually go for weeks on these things because I procrastinate work of any kind, even the kinds I enjoy, so by the time I'm done I've had the time to learn/read about at least one new technique and tweeked like, 3 others. For instance, in Mur's thread, IPS suggested a way to make the shadows more orange on his yellows, which helped me tweek the yellow areas on my AA.

Meh, yeah, it has to do with the fx I hexed on... I'll go ahad and release a ffvttr version on the next update, no biggie

AfghanAnt

I can not see anything that should be changed. It did a really great job with my avatar.

 woohoo... alrights dude... nice... just tell me if it's been done... coz i can't complete my FR collection withouth TOMATO...  :D

Podmark

Wow I really like it. A very sleek design.

Tomato

If you want a temporary fix, there's a copy of one up here that works fine, at least in my version. It's a bit bigger as far as size (because it comes with a soundpack and a bunch of other stuff for Unko's FR Mod) but it should work. Only problem is, it doesn't have the fx like the FF1 has, but it'll work until I get the official one up. I just feel stupid because I should have thought of it before now.

The hex was done as of the time just before I took this pic, but when I took it I thought of a nifty way of doing the cape. For those who haven't seen it, the preliminary design for Syn (I've modified it a bit since) is up here. I was just going to leave the cape as it is, but while looking for an appropriate shoulderpad, I found a few pieces that I might be able to add onto a cape that'll make it look like it's draped over the shoulder. It might be a little junky, but it should suffice in liew of a meshed cape.

As far as what I've got though... There's still a lot of clipping on the sleeve, but it's there even on the gambit mesh itself, so I can't really do much even in Max. It's all in the shoulder though, and the Shoulderpad covers almost all of that, so with a flat color underneath it shouldn't really be noticible.

Again, the skin on the sleeve isn't mine, I just recolored the standard for the purpose of showing off.

UnkoMan

Holy... cow...

That Syn hex looks friggin' great! Hopefully the draped parts will only add to that.

I can't wait to see this done, though.

BatWing

syn looks awsome tomato!

Heh, It's not really mine... I googled a bunch of tatoo paterns and cobbled them together.

The cape might take longer then I expected... The hexed on piece still wasn't looking right, so I thought I'd be a smart alec and mesh an appropriate cape myself... But I screwed up the physiquing, and it looks as though I'll have to start from scratch again. Plus, I've got a mission trip coming up on the 15th (No electronic devices, and I wouldn't take my laptop regardless) and I have a couple of pieces to mesh for Murs tjat take priority

Tomato

After a month or so of on and off attempts to get a working cape in the style I wanted (Read: Banging my head against the wall due to lack of any and all physiquing skills) I finally broke down and asked tommyboy for assistance. After ever so gently telling me it would take an extreme ammount of work (duplicating the whole shoulder on the cape and matching the attachments exactly) for something I didn't really need, and after a few PMs he helped me decide simply to move a cape down and skin the shoulder directly to the thing.

So I'm back to working on it, though I don't have all that much more yet >.<

AfghanAnt

Cool, I really want to see this finished. Is your redesign of my ava ready?

Errr... actually... I lost it, sorry. My computer spontaneiously combusted when I banged my head into it playing pong, and I lost everything.

Yeah, I'm kidding. I actually meant to release it with Syn, back when I thought this  skin wouldn't take me 6 months(I blame 3ds max. It doesn't let me do impossible stuff just because I want to.) but now that you've reminded me of it again, I realize I want to work on it just a bit more before I release it... not because of the skin though. I have an extra little suprise or two I want to add to the mesh :P. Shouldn't take more then a couple of days to get it up if I start work on it tonight (I do my skinning work near bedtime, when I can't goof off on the internet comp anymore)

Tomato

Made a few different versions of the released mesh, and from left to right they are: Original, Tomato Redesign, and Classic. My reason for this was while Ink made a fantastic Ink v2 mesh I encountered a few things that, while not exactly things I or others couldn't deal with, it is fairly limiting. The gloves are meshed in, which is great when it's a specific design (which is why I do it all the time >P) but not so great if you want one longer glove. So when I came up with my design I knew I was going to have to mesh something new, whereas I know not everyone has access 3ds max.

As for the second, I also recognise that Ink used hair from another mesher, used with permission for that mesh, which is sort of a hexing gray area. If I wanted to modify the mapping on the skin for some reason, It would make things sort of complicated when they don't really need to be.

Tomato

Meh, I've been getting really into another art project, so I haven't been focusing on skinning very much over the last month or so, but I've finished it. Oh, and I finally got my enthusiasm for the Syn skin back.

AfghanAnt

Argh! I just download my redesign and I love it. You've really out did yourself with it. I love how Syn's redesign is coming along. It's very Cobra Commander and I love that.

Dr.Volt

Tomato, I gotta say I really dig this latest work you've done on Syn.  He really looks imposing...very, very nice.  And AA's look is great as well.  Good stuff all!

BatWing

i can tell that syn is gonna looked pimped out.
