Amigos,

Now that Condorito has crossed the 45-line (46 as of Sunday night), I've been thinking about the great and mysterious "Hamidon Raids" (and, of course, HOs) that everyone always talks about.  I know that most of you are probably pros at these, but I've never done one and am extremely curious and eager to try them out.
Do any of you do Hami raids?  And, if you do, would you mind bringing a clueless newbie with you sometime?  I've read and heard that there are well-developed techniques to pulling these off successfully, and I'd really appreciate an experienced comrade to tag along with.  At the very least, I would love any tips or advice before leaping into the fray and totally embarassing myself!

Muchisismas gracias! :D

Basically... it's boring. Oh and the potty mouths. Oi.

Hami raids are okay as a change of pace once in a while. Once you've done one, though, you probably won't have any urge to do another for a while- it is kind of boring, and the in-fighting and in-game politics aren't a lot of fun (though usually you can just ignore that part)- not to mention the strain it puts on your hardware (you have no idea how many people are involved in a single Hami raid...)

Never done one, no intention of doing one. I'd rather crack out a newbie toon and spend some time levelling, than spend an evening doing the exact same thing for 2+ hours.

Anybody Who's played with Atomic snail knows I've the patience of a gnat on crack. there's nooooooo way I could ever do a Hami Raid. Bring me back something nice, though.

We'll for starters I believe Hami Raids as we know them end Issue 9 and will be replaced with a smaller Hami Raid/Trial.  As for the current Hami Raid, just show up to watch and learn. Hami Raids are currently broken. You can just show up during the Holding Phase ('aka' the leech phase) at the end, attack hami once, and then just stand on the sidelines and wait for your reward to drop; something that many of us are guilty of doing :o :P

You can check to see if a raid is forming by typing /search and selecting 'The Hive' zone. If you see +40 players at the Hive it means usually means a raid is forming or active. Or join the channels like 'Freedom badge', 'freedom monster', or' Hot action' for server wide news.

Whether it's 'The Hive or Atlas Park, I enjoy a large assemblage of players. I enjoy checking out the various names, builds, costumes and bios.  I even attempt to guess which toons powered level their way up to +45 by inspecting the badges they have or haven't acquired.

One could easily hit max debt by actively participating in a raid. I'd suggest you wait until L50 to participate unless debt doesn't bother you.

That's good advice.

Generous tips, everyone - thanks! The wait-til-50 approach makes a lot of sense, although I was hoping to get my hands on a few HOs to help in my actual journey towards 50  :( .
I might take TT up on his advice to just go, hang out and watch sometime. That max debt thing does make me nervous - I'm sure Hamidon sees an SR scrapper and thinks "Fresh meat for eating"!

If Hami wasn't such a boring use of online time, I'd be there more often.  But the real problem is that lvl 50 toons have no reason to improve, other than to be slightly more powerful.  That's not motivation for me.  I'd rather have story arcs/missions/TFs that are exclusive to lvl 50s that mean something or have impact.  Then I'd be motivated to get HO's.
