Saw a clip on YouTube with Thor fighting Wonder Woman and it looked great. Is this program hard to use? Wouldn't mind playing around with this one.

Wonderwoman handles great, I'll tell you that much. Dont know much on how to get started though, I got mine off a cd that a friend burned me. Tons of fun though, I especially love tracking down custom characters people create.

Carravaggio

i used to be right into it, but got tired of maintaining and balancing the thousands of custom characters you can get. plus using a keyboard for the moves sucked hard. if i ever found a gamepad that worked with it, i'd get back into it, tho. unfortunately from what i remember the most common builds of mugen had issues with XP...damn microsoft, everytime a good game with heroes in it comes around, they conspire to wreck it on us!

Lord Elcorion

i've seen and heard about this several times, but never have gotten to use it, can anyone provide a link?

Carravaggio

brazillian site...anyone speak portuguese?
well it has plenty of characters, the program itself for download and a bunch of links, music, screenpacks and stages. if you need help working it all out...spend hours going over how to READMEs like i had to. its been too long since i played so i can't remember how its all done. Just be prepared to lose a large portion of your life to this hoby/obsession.

Heres some stuff. http://dcvsmarvel.scruffydragon.com/  Tried to get back into it a month ago.  It was fun but dont expect much balance.  Plus as Carravaggio said, you'll need to devote time to it.

Lord Elcorion

particullarly with the custom charecters, i can imagine the balance is gonna be horrid becuase everyone is trying to make their particular "favorite" be as powerful and unbeatable as possible, and there's likely no way to implement a system of checks and balances, as it were.

*gasp* Its gengoro!! where the hell have you been?

MUGEN is a lot of fun, but its definately requires addiction and a lot of time on your hands, even if you don't plan on creating your own custom characters. I gave up on it quickly - couldn't devote enough time.

Carravaggio

incidently has anyone ever gotten a PC controller to work with MUGEN? or how about the rumours that you can copy your MUGEN data onto an XBox harddrive and play it on that? i'd buy an xnox soley for that purpose were it possible.

captmorgan72

I downloaded "Mugen All Characters Battle Zero" from a link on YouTube. The file is over a gig and has over 100 characters and stages. Bascially it is ready to be played. However I am having trouble doing so. I downloaded and extracted it. It starts up fine but I can't seem to select a character. I chose one and press enter but nothing happens. I can scroll around the character boxes and see them all but can't actually select one.

Any clues how to select a character to play a match?

Have you configured the controllers? Selecting the character is done, not with the start button, but with the attack buttons.

I used a ps2 controller thanks to a usb adapter.  Not sure about the x-box thing.  Some people at the gamefaqs boards may know but bring a flame shield.

if ya find out, please let us know, my room mate owns an xbox.

ok, this site is frustrating me.. i keep getting an error when i try to register, the little validation code word pic thing keeps saying it doesn't match when i know it does.. i looked at it says they don't accept hotmail or yahoo e-mail adresses for registration, which is really really stupid, seeing as those are like the top 2 free e-mail providers on the net...

My xbox 360 controller works great with this, I'm loving it. Don't like Thor getting his arse kicked by a tiny japanese woman though. :(

if your useing a yahoo or hotmail account, those e-mail providers are blocked somehow.. i tried for 15 minutes to register before giving up in frustration.

thats why you open thor's files and fix it so he takes lil to no damage from said tiny japanese girl. i had two versions of Superman on mugen, for example. the normal one and a pimped out one that took virtually no damage and had infinite flight time. Sure the fights were one sided, but what fight against supes isn't? if you enjoy thats good enough, i think. you can also change the moveslist so that executing moves is easier or different. i hate that Guile's Super Sonic Boom is a horrible back forward back forward to execute, so i changed the move to occur when i performed a double fireball motion like Ryu's supers. made the game a loy more enjoyable!

EDIT: the whole reason i replied, duh, did you have to do any mucking about with the xbos controller to get it to work, aside from assigning buttons? and how responsive is it? does it compare to console fighting games?

deanjo2000

Im more into sprite work than playing at the moment weird thing is im a member at scruffydragon and have been for a long time plus i use a hotmail account

captmorgan72

Yeah, I should try altering Thor's file. The xbox 360 controller didn't give me any trouble at all. I just had to set up the buttons. It responds great, controls the characters well.

the hotmail ban was put in fairly recently, any old members with hotmail accounts are still clear, just no new hotmail accounts will be accepted.
