So, he just throws them?  I really need to read their comic. ;)  Anyroad, I don't think there's any need to worry about hexing them in, he looks great as is.  That little bit of a fix for Beautiful Dreamer made a world of difference KS, she looks 'right' now.  Awesome, the Forever People are finished!

Thanks PG, that'd be a big help!

phantom stranger

Really nice looking Forever People skins
I know that I had problems in getting Dreamers costume to look like I wanted it, I was always under the impression that she wore a  slightly loose suede/leather dress (very 60's hippie look) that I just could not really duplicate no matter how I tried  ,which was the reason I ended up skinning  her with the later pink & white dress costume .

Helix

I have a Red Star skin at groups.yahoo.com/group/helixgroup2

I'm sorry I can't post a pic for you right now because I'm not on my home PC.

But check it out anyway. I hope you'll like it. I'll be updating alot of my skins as soon as I get my PC back up and can nifscope them.

BentonGrey

Helix, your excellent skin is actually the one I'm using, but for some reason his goggles aren't showing up.  Any clue as to why?

kssaints

So, he just throws them? Not exactly. He (Serifan) seemes to most of the time shoot them like guns. Strange as it sounds. But Kirby always came up with very unusual characters.

BentonGrey

Haha, I guess I still don't get it, does anyone have any of these comics?  I'd very much like to see a shot of this in action, and it's going to be a while before I can get my hands on them.

hoss20

Benton, I just sent you the Renee Montoya skin (just the skin, not the mesh). I was going to take a crack at Metropolis SCU, but I'll wait for Panther_Gunn to post his pictures for reference. I was thinking the PV_RiotCop mesh for these guys. Is there another one out there?

BentonGrey

My thoughts exactly Hoss, but I'm curious as to its size compared to male_basic...something in the back of my head says that PV is a good deal bigger....

Anyroad, Renee looks great, nice detail work with the lapels!  Consider her added.

Panther_Gunn

Ok, here they is, in order of appearance, until about mid-'91.

First appearance, Action #595, Dec '87; John Byrne

Adventures of Superman #456, Jul '89; Dan Jurgens

Action #650, Feb '90; (multiple artists this issue, not sure who did these pages)

Superman #49, Nov 90; Jerry Ordway

Adventures of Superman #472, Nov 90; Dan Jurgens/Art Thibert

BentonGrey

Hmm, well #49 looks pretty close to what I was thinking.  Maybe if the reds were silvers or grays, that'd be perfect.  Thanks PG!

The only shot I've got, from the old Who's Who.

Ahh, I see!  Thanks PG, I just couldn't quite wrap my head around that.  KS, is there any way to hex in a 'cartridge' that he could use as a weapon?  Perhaps put in a wand and shrink it?  If not, it's cool.

kssaints

Shouldn't be a problem to hex a cartridge. I will also see about finishing up the Manta henchmen and doing a purple diver type for the fisherman's henchmen. As well as the Deep Six and the Starlings. I'll kep plugging away.

BentonGrey

Awesome, thanks KS, I know I can count on you.  We'll get this thing done, some day. :D

phantom stranger

Regarding Serifans Cosmic Cartidges  the DC Database has this to say about them

QuoteEach cartridge is color coordinated and produces a different effect. Some cartridges emit a wave of concussive energy, while others may create a psychotropic effect in the immediate area. Still other cartridges are known to generate force fields and anti-gravity fields. Serifan activates these cartridges by snapping them in half

http://www.dcdatabaseproject.com/Serifan

Which is what I remember from the first series of the Forever People (I havent managed to dig out my copies as yet ) in the comics he sometimes used them by touching an individual (in particular in the Deadman story where he "bonded " Boston Brands "spirit form" with an android Follower)
As far as game play goes I would give him a mixture of using them like small grenades with various effects like concussion grenade ,freeze grenade etc etc and would have some of them as area atacks, the mental ones in particular and possibly just the one as a ranged shot .

BentonGrey

Thanks Phantom Stranger, I think I'm getting the idea now.  I can tell that he'll be really versatile in a fight!

:EDIT: I know that there was an 'astronaught' hex made of Manbot, did anyone ever skin an astronaught onto it?  If so, I could really use that for a cutscene.....

BentonGrey

If there isn't a skin for the astronaught hex, does anyone know where the hex itself is?  I can just make do with the manbot skin.  Also, I recently discovered another memeber of the Aquaman family that I hadn't ever seen before.  Tula, the Aquagirl, Aqualad's gal pal.  I could go with either look for her, really classic or the new version.  Here are some images:

I'm not married to either look, and I know they're two different characters, but not in my world. ^_^

Just like Mera, she should be done on a mesh compatible with the swimmer kf's.  Also, it might not be a bad idea if it were a little smaller than the female_basic, but that's not a big deal.

hoss20

Are you using the female_swimmer keyframes from the NPI website? If so could you send them to me since NPI is having problems right now? It will help me choose the right mesh. I'll take care of Aquagirl for you. Which version do you prefer? Do you still need Mera done? If so, do you have any other reference pictures? Let me know what else you need.

BentonGrey

Howdy Hoss, I'll deffinetly send them to you.  I'd say do whichever version you like best, as she's not that important to me, and I like both looks.  I suppose the first one would mesh better with the other characters.

Here are some other reference pics of Mera:

As for what else I need, well, I'm sure there are about a dozen things that I'm forgetting.  One day I'll need Atlantians, Dark Atlantians, Atlantian soldiers, Vulko, and various other things that I imagine have never had cause to be skinned.  At the moment, however, there isn't anything that pressing, but did you see that PG posted the pics of the Metropolis SCU?  Thanks so much for helping out man!

KS, my friend, forget about the Starlings, they just look plain goofy.  I'm just going to retcon him and give him cloning powers.  Sound good?

Are the swimmer kf's based off of the _basic meshes?  If so, you could always use the female_teen_basic mesh for Tula (who I think looks more in line with the style & look you're aiming for on most other things).  It's got the shorter hair, but not quite as short as she had.  I had forgotten about her because she had died during the Crisis, but as soon as you said the name, I knew exactly who it was (just didn't know there was a new Aquagirl).

JKCarrier

Interceptor did a "female_basic_swimmer_skirt" mesh, which comes with an Aquagirl skin. It's here:

hoss20

I received the keyframes. Thanks. I saw the posted pictures of Metropolis SCU and was just thinking about how to render all that padding. I've got an idea, but am open to suggestions. Thanks PG for the reference pics and the suggestion of the  female_teen_basic mesh for Aquagirl. I'll give it a shot. Thanks for the post JKCarrier. I was writing this when you posted. I'll check it out.

BentonGrey

Thanks guys!  Speaking of the teen meshes, has anyone done an 'older' teen hex, older than the 14 one?  I'd like to have Aqualad on a slightly smaller mesh than the male_basic, but not quite that small.

kssaints

Hey Bent,
I'll take the Starlings off my list. There was a speedy mesh done I believe at age 16. I'll check and see what I can find. Also I am having trouble with my computer and Yahoo cooperating to get the Forever people uploaded. I'll PM you when I get some progress made.

hoss20

There's a male_basic_teen_tall mesh that looks pretty good, but it may be too tall for your needs.

I had thought about that mesh, too, but was afraid it wouldn't look quite buff enough for Garth.

BentonGrey

Hey guys, I tried the male_teen_tall, and I do feel that he's a bit too scrawny for Garth.  I'm basically just looking for something a little smaller than our Aquaman meshes, like Thor Reborn's hex of Robin compared to Gren's Batman.  Something Male_basic proportions wouldn't be bad, just a smaller, slightly younger size.

:EDIT: Hey, I know I've already commented on KS's Forever People, but let me just say that I downloaded them, and they are REALLY impressive in game.  Fantastic work, my friend, really outsanding!  Big Bear is especially awesome.  Same goes for Mantis and Fastback (sorry I didn't get these guys earlier, I didn't realize that you had uploaded them).

kssaints

Hey bro,
I am so very glad you like them. I am humbled by your comments. I hope to get Kanto and the Deep Six done pretty soon. I'll keep you posted as to my progress.

BentonGrey

Ha, well, you're quite welcome, my friend, I'm just thrilled that you've helped me out so much with my little project.  Ohh yeah, Kanto, I forgot you were doing him, I'm really looking forward to doing him, since he really did need a hexed mesh!

hoss20

I did two versions of Mera for you. I added a collar and a little more hair. I tried putting a tiara on her, but there was something weird going on with the alpha on it. Metropolis SCU is next on my list. Let me know what you think.
