Does anyone know if the LSH Mod at http://uk.geocities.com/tomspasic@btinternet.com/ was ever finished or is it still in the works?

stumpy

Sadly, I don't think so. http://freedomreborn.net/archive/index.php?topic=41422.msg577512#msg577512  Those preview pics sure look great, though.

tommyboy

Although I have thought from time to time about just releasing the darn thing as is, unfinished, but at least playable....
I'll ponder a bit more on that...

Please release it Tommy. Give us Legion fans a charge.

I second that. Playing your Bouncing Boy mesh in a LSH mod would be cool. I hope you included him.

I see Chuck in the squad of at least two of the mission screenshots on the third preview page.  :)

Yep, he's available from the get-go.
In fact, my tendency to want every legionnaire in every mission gets pretty tiresome. I managed to "limit" myself to a mere 12 in the first mission, though

I'll see what I can do to get it released. I still need to at least make the fifth mission more than a blank map so you can at least fight someone in it. But that may take a week or three, as i have lots of other stuff on my plate, and I Mod slooooowly.

Dreaded Porcupine

You're to awesome Tommy. Looking forward to it. Since me and my two daughters watch the LOSH every saturday morning this will be cool.

tommyboy

OK, I've been trying to get it to a releasable place.
And I've decided to remesh the majority of the characters (for the fourth time, if anyones counting), to cut down the size of it, and speed up loading times.
Now, that will take a while, but when it's done, and I fix the bugs in my scripting, a four or five mission release will happen.
Till then, well you've waited this long, so another month or two shouldn't matter too much..

At the risk of asking a dumb question, what game is this mod for? The Original FF or FFvsTTR?

:ffvstr:

You can tell by looking at the first screenshot on tommyboy's page. It's "rumble room" instead of "danger room".

As an indicator of how long I've been dragging this out for, it started as an FF Mod, then when FFV3R came out got moved over to FFV3R.
At the rate I'm going, it will end up being released for Freedom Force Four: the Wrath of Mentor.
In theory, it will be FFV3R.

Always the perfectionist. You take good care of us Tom. Thanks. It will be well worth the wait.

lol, no, not perfectionist, just very slow and incompetent
Personally, I dont think it worth the three plus years wait.
Maybe three to six months....but not three years. Not for four poxy missions. And the plot hardly gets going. Then stops.

You got further with this than I ever did with my LSH mod! I wanted to have missions paralleling six or seven of the arcs from the Adventure Comics days ("The Legion Chain Gang" versus Universo, "The Fatal Five"/"The Doomed Legionnaire" with Ferro Lad, etc.) with a possible follow-on with some the seventies and eighties LSH arcs. But, I was just learning Python at the time and quickly got swept up in writing utility modules for the game, never really developed good map-making skills, and sort of let the mod fall by the wayside.

Anyway, I am the last person who could complain about a long-time-coming LSH mod, but I will be psyched when you set it loose!

tommyboy

Just to keep you up to date:
so far I've remade about 60 meshes for the Mod, theres probably another 10-20 to go (I may need to update some of the old classics like Validus, as he gets floaty-bits-syndrome in FFV3R), then once meshing ceases, I'll try to iron out the many, many python bugs and then its release time.
E.T.A. @2-3 weeks.

Lunarman

That's fantastic! Great news T-boy!

Dreaded Porcupine

It'll be just in time for the final two episodes of season 1 animated LOSH. I know in England you've already seen it but here in the states we haven't yet as the are running reruns already before the end of season 1. It will be the perect release time.

Hey Tom, I was just wondering if you had any preview pics of this to show?   I know I currently can't play FFvst3R or any related mod, but hopefully in the next month or two I'll be able to get a new PC.   If I do, the LSH mod is one that I would defenitely like to be able to play.   Aside from my ramblings, I was just wondering if you had any pics of the updated meshes to show.

tommyboy

No, not for the time being.
The new versions are pretty similar to the teen_versatile ones of the last iteration, but now with added Fingers!(And IMO better hair textures)
So theres no really dramatic changes, just a bunch of smaller ones, and because every character now has their own custom made mesh rather than a versatile variant, they are much much smaller in filesize.
As for progress, I'm trying out EZscript and generally finding it to be err...EZ...so I'm converting the missions over and probably writing more new ones. This may slow things down a little but the payoff is more missions and less bugs, so I think it a worthwhile endeavour.
Next time I playtest I'll see if'n I can grab a few screenies to tempt you with and post em here.
ETA is still a couple of weeks I'm afraid. Got pretty much all the meshes I wanted to remake done though. So it's mainly scripting, EZscripting and balancing to finish up.

That's awesome Tom, thanks for the update.

tommyboy

Still working on it, a bit stuck on a bug in level three...
But that's not the only reason I'm posting.
Long term lSH fans should be reading the new JLA and JSA series, which have some verrrry interesting legion related plotlines at the moment...

tommyboy

Got past the bug thats held me up for three days (stupid new medusa_tvlite mesh!), so to celebrate, heres a couple of screenshots of some of the cast of thousands and the W.I.P. that is the 70s HQ

Now I just have to sort out all the other bugs...

apfarmakis

This is going to be THE BEST MOD EVER. PERIOD.

Xenolith

wow.

as a newly converted legion fan (thanks to showcase presents) i'm pretty excited about playing this.

FLASH_22798

I think I'll be hijacking my mom's pc till I can eventually get one that can handle  :ffvstr:.   That looks sooooo cool!

Dreaded Porcupine

Frickin cool Tommy. This mod is going to be awesome. Looks like you loaded it up good with characters. Awesome.
