Who would win, the Jedi or the X-men?

The Jedi
The X-men

Lunarman

The battle begins at dawn in NYC. Every Jedi alive at the time of The Phantom Menace is there, and the opposing team consists of every X-man ever to have lived.

Who wins?

Glitch Girl

Don't they all blow up in one ginormous continuity black hole?  ;)

BatWing

The Jedi would kick their asses.  The X-men has hundreds of people, but there are THOUSANDS of Jedi.  Each one has telekinetic and minor telepathic abilities, and each one is trained to be devastating with a lightsaber.  Remember, lightsabers > adamantium, so even Wolverine loses.

The Jedis mop the floor with the muties.  End of discussion.

Unless the X-Men have a full-powered, non-insane Jean Grey/Phoenix in thier ranks.  That's the mutant wild card.  The Rachael Summers/Phoenix would get totally pwned by Yoda, however.

konbiz

With the way Wolverine is getting written at the moment Wolverine>everything.

Edit: Just a little clarification, I love Wolverine, but alot of his recent books have been terrible, worse than terrible.

Lunarman

But you know, polaris would just attract all the jedi's lightsabres into her hands and leave the weaponless!

I still voted Jedi

catwhowalksbyhimself

But even a weaponless Jedi is still quite a threat.

The Jedi would win due solely to shear numbers.

Night Dragon

George Lucas and Marvel. They would release comics, novels, and an animated feature scoring loads of the proveribal phat loot.

And then a few years later would release a special edition version where Wolverine shot first.

BatWing

the only jedi i know that survived is luke

Gremlin

Look, guys, I think you're ignoring one fundamental fact here.

1 Jedi > 1 X-Man (talking average, here)

There are more Jedis than there are X-Men.

The average sweetness of each Jedi multiplied by the full number of Jedis is the "Jedi Sweetness Factor."

No matter how you do the math, the JSF > XMSF.  You can't win!  It's mathematically impossible.  And not X-Man has the power to make math stop working.

Lunarman

How can you say that 1 Jedi > 1 X-man? The X-men each have one power that they have mastered to perfection but the jedi only have one common ability. They can use the force and wield lightsabres, therefore, find their weakness and they all go down together. Whereas with the X-men you have to find each individual one's weakness, don't cha?

*not trying to oppose anyone, just stimulate the argument ;) *

The hole in your theory is assuming that all jedi use the Force in exactly the same way.  With all of the different races and different personalities of the jedi, that's like saying that every martial artist uses the same style, so if you can figure out how to defeat one, you can defeat all of them.

What I would find interesting would be a Force-telekinesis/magnetism tug of war over a lightsabre between Magneto & Yoda!

Sword

As with Ryan vs Dorkman, Yoda would win the pulling battle, but Magneto pop open the saber's blade at the last moment.

The Phantom Eyebrow

Best there is at what I do I am, hmmm?

Sword

Wonderful. Now I have a mental image of a canuck with bad hair popping three lightsaber blades out of the knuckles on both hands. SNIKT VROOW!

And lo, a new mesh (and ungodly hero file) was born!

WHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

Uncle Yuan

The various Star Wars Universe novels have a fair amount of detail on Jedi abilities, and they are every bit as unique and idiosyncratic as mutant abilities.  I, too, think numbers would win out here.  Plus the average Jedi has probably had more concetrated fighting instruction than the average X-man.

Sword

Well, if we're taking novels into play, then the X-men have backup from the Federation and the crew of the Enterprise because they've worked together before. The jedis wouldn't stand a chance with the enterprise parked in orbit, firing phasers on stun down at them.

Sorry, Sword, but this is "X-Men vs Jedi", not "X-Men and everyone they've ever worked with vs Jedi"... I mean, they've worked with the Avengers and the Fantastic Four- and, for that matter, the teen Titans- too- not to mention the Imperial Guard-  and you don't see anyone bringing those up...

Personally, I don't know how that fight overall would go, but I suspect that most people will only be paying attention to the one-on-one battle between Yoda and Wolverine. As to who wins that, frankly, it'll have nothing to do with carefully-worked-out "stats" or known abilities. It all comes down to the "He's Yoda!" factor vs. the "He's Wolverine!" factor...

Personally, I'm inclined to go with Yoda, but that may just be because it would be fun to watch Wolverine get taken down by a muppet...

Sword

Well, not all the jedi are as great as yoda. I remember hearing about one who was a cyborg with dual lightsabers implanted in his wrists, elbows and knees.

BlueBard

This isn't realistic, but I'll play...

X-Men, hands down.

Why?

If the Jedi are all that great, then how come they all get wiped out by the time Luke Skywalker meets Obi Wan?

Whereas more than one member of the X-Men has come back from the dead and/or survived cosmic/alien threats WAY worse than Darth Vader.

Let's see how Jedi handle a storm brewed up by Storm.  Or being flash-frozen by the Iceman.  Or, let's see a lightsaber deflect a full-on Cyclops optic blast.  And I'll put Prof X's mind control up against any Jedi you want to name.  Put him and Magneto together with Jean Grey and they don't need any other X-Men except as cannon fodder.

Especially if we're talking Light-side Jedi.  They don't fight dirty.

As to combat training, my answer is 'Danger Room'.

konbiz

This is impossible guys... Star Wars is a long time ago in a galaxy far far away. The Jedi will die of old age before facing the X-men.

Alphanaut

I have to agree with BlueBard on this one. The Jedi were decimated by the clonetroopers, so how could they really stand up to any X-man that can attack them from a distance?

The Hitman

On the "More Jedi than X-Men" thing, remember... Multiple Man was an X- Man. Yes, more on X-Force, but he was on the X- Men team very shortly. There's your quantity gap.

See?  Another factor for the X-Men.

Jedi can see the future... sometimes.

Whereas the X-Men have been time travellers.  I suppose the X-Men would go to the Jedi before the Jedi came to the X-Men.

BatWing

wouldn't wolveine use his healing factor if he gets slaughter?
you like shoom voom veeow voom u know

captainspud

Magneto chucks thousands of cars at them.

Game over.

Impossible to settle the question all depends of the context.

Star wars universe got the technology
What about erasing all the X-men (and earth) with the dead star?^^

By the way,Jedi 's got some concern stranger to sith lords or mutants.

"Fear is the path to the dark side. fear leads to anger. anger leads to hate. hate leads to suffering."

Jedis are kept under some heavy ethical.Force users are strong but they must keep an iron will.Every bad deeds got a major impact on their identity.
A jedi would never slay X-men heroes, because that sin would lead him to the dark side.
The force cannot be compared to X-men powers. It forced on a belief,a way of life.If a jedi do harm, the dark side will corrupt his sanity.
Knowing that, a jedi would be quite cautious to his own emotion to when facing opponents 'in all fairness.'
