In 10 hours I'll begin to rigg Timm_superman but I got no news about Grenadier.
It means that I can only give him irrationnal caped characters animations...male_cape,mentor...alchemiss?!
The man of steel deserve better don't you think?

Anyone is still in touch with Grenadier?
(By the way i'm not sure about which 3ds max version are his max files from)
Mixing animations from irrationnal max files...editing notes...even animating...sure I can do it...that's just time consuming and at the expense of meshing and skinning
conflicting with my resolution to create as many characters as possible)

My five year old actually squealled when he saw this pic guys. So did I. Just amazing job. I can't wait to get this one in game. Any chance of a Batman to go with him Volsung?

Well I've got some heavy problem.
FIrst I just wasted a lot of time , trying to export brainiac with FFVTTR exporter for max 5.1 (the final version, thanks to Renegade)
Every try ended in a failure. :banghead:

Now superman and his cape especially give me some concern.

That means that even If I consider that Grenadier would allow me to use his AMAZING animations from his max files I couldn't export a functional mesh.
Actually all my functional meshes comes from max 3.1 and grenadier's files comes from max 4.They can't be opened with my Max 3.1

Well, i've got many questions to ask to the community. :mellow:

Do you still play FF1?Is it really necessary that I export a FF1 version each time?
(If max 5.1 errors are defeated I could only work on max 5.1 and don't bother with animations compatible in a version or another)

Does many of you got that ghosting issue?(An issue that I got).
With multiple instance of a character, mesh exported with ff1 exporters produce that ghosting issue on several machine.

Should I...consider that... if grenadier relased his max files... I could freely tweak those files so my timm models would play nicely those animations.

Since tommyboy proved us that using basic keyframes with a unusual skeleton results in a stretched or squashed model.
(Rigging my models on an unchanged male basic skeleton?No way! That won't solve anything!Imagine a walking animation with a character with a knee joint in the tight or the shinbone!)
If so i can borrow a 3ds Max 4 from my company.

You may think that I act as a real show off.
But as you know, I lack of spare time.I've got friend that i'd like to see.And even sometimes 3d stuff out of freedom force that I must do to help friends.

Well i'm busy like everyone here.
So I need those answers so I can gain time.I really want to make many characters.The goal is to waste time on animations the less possible.

This is a conclusive partership with C6.
He made a base skin, I edited Brainiac mesh according to it so he looks like superman, he added some corrections,I finalised the mesh and suggested some changes, he finally achieved that wonderfull skin.
Batman wears the same kind of costume as Superman or green lantern.C6 could create the skin easely.
And, assuming that animations questions would be solved ,we could quickly create a faithfull Batman with such a pingpong partnership.
Courtnall6 got some projects in progress.All depends of his wish.
My next solo project is the joker, so if I 'm planning a batman,that will be after Two Face...(Doomsday?Grundy?...)

I can't speak with the same level of experience or authority in the community as IPS, but I'm one of the guys that tried FFVTTR and gave it up as a lost cause - and I suspect there are many others.

But having said that; Volsung, you're spending your own time and effort to make this project work.  If you determine you can't do it for FF1 because of the level of effort - that is certainly understandable.  I appreciate you even considering it.

Vols, if it's much easier to make the meshes for FFvTR, then go ahead and do it. I don't own a copy of FFvTR, and probably won't ever, but it's obvious most everyone's moved on. So go ahead. I just enjoy seeing the new meshed you've created!

It's amazing what you guys (Volsung, Courtnall) are continuing to do with this game. Can't wait to see the full Timmverse Justice League (especially with the recent advances in Hawkgirl keyframes/aerial melee kfs).... but my head will probably explode when Batman is released. Too cool!!

This is my first time coming here today and I was floored when I saw C6 and Vol's work on Superman. He looks like the figure I have on my desk at work. Beautiful work you guys.

My ff1 dilemma is pointless  :doh:
I can work on max 4 export an ff1 nif that i'll convert to ffvttr.
Or I can save my work on max 4 first, than open the file with 5.1 and export it from there to prevent ghosting.
IPS, you said everyone got the ghosting issue.Whose meshers exported their nif successfully with max 5.1?Renegade?

Recent hawkgirl keyframes? from  whom?
If you guys want quickly other JL members, you should court C6 in his thread^^

I'll try to honor C6 work by rigging superman tonight with blazing grenadier's animations.
I should export new keyframes for Brainiac and Timm_male_basic too!
I hope all max 5.1 mysteries will vanish soon!

As I understand it, isn't there a way to fix the ghost thing just with nifskope? I could have sworn I saw a tut on it.

Tommyboy wrote one, but he said the chance of success were weak with 'exotic' meshes.

Is he fully animated correctly in Character tool?
Is it Ctool or Ctool2?
My guess, (and its only a guess) is that something about the notetrack setup is wrong somehow, based on your earlier reference to it.
What I did was to examine the Irrational Max files to deduce the correct way to set it  up, as the art processes documentation can be a little hard to follow on that subject.
However, if you only have access to Max 3.1 that may not be an option.
Just an idea, have you tried him with "generic" male_basic compatible keyframes from another mesh (after export I mean, not exporting with.)?

Volsung I've been having a blast with Brainiac in ffvttr and hope you don't get too stressed out, great job just loving it thanks.

And it was a calamity...fatal error ...screwed files... etc etc...
Now I remember why I trew away Max 4 long ago and stayed on max 3.1

Anyway i finally succeded in exporting Brainiac from max 5.1 with grenadier's Darkseid animations!!!
Now Brainiac act with the overconfidence that he should have!
I follow your advice tommyboy and discovered that the bip needed to be linked to Root_NoteTrack!
Ghosting bug is past^^
But that also means hitman that you'll have to try FFVTTR.
If I can't open my files with max 4 and I can't use grenadier's animations I have to give up exporting for FF1...

Well now I 'm about to rigg Timm_Superman.
During that process guys I 'd like you to advise me which keyframes I should use for Timm_Superman, Timm_Brainiac and Timm_Male_basic.
Darkseid_V2 seems perfect for Brainiac.
And Male_heavy_cape_2 would be amazing for Superman
