Emile Hirsch, John Goodman and Susan Sarandon had already been announced as cast members for the Wachowski's Speed Racer movie, which will be out next year. Now they've added Christina Ricci as Trixie.

I hope they add Racer X and have Pops (Goodman) talk too fast. hehehe.

To answer your spoiler question.....yep. But they could always save Racer X for the sequel, or do something like introduce him at the end of the first movie and have him be a major part of the second.

I want a live action Gigantor movie. They made one in Japan, aimed at kids, last year or 2005, but I think a big budget, Hollywood Gigantor movie would rock!

I could dig Speed Racer, but what the heck is Susan Sarandon doing in it?  Is there even a part for her in the story?  Anyroad, I'll keep my ears open about this one.

She's playing Speed's mother. No word if Spritle or Chim-Chim will be in it yet, or who the villains will be.

Blah, I admit I am rusty on Speed Racer.  I met the couple who did the voices for Speed and Trixie in the ORIGINAL translation of the series (or is that translation or the original series).  To this day though, I have never watched much or the series.

The best thing about Speed Racer is that the characters sometimes talked way too fast. Especially Pops Racer. They did a really funny episode of Dexter's Laboratory that parodied Speed Racer, with Dexter's father talking even faster than Pops!

But Gigantor > Speed Racer, in my opinion.

Forget about the cast.....getting to see the Mach 5 live-action will rock all by itself!  :thumbup:

Somebody has a real Mach 5. Saw it in a anime mag some 7 years ago. Could actually jump 3' up. Believe it had the saw blades as well.

Here's an article with pics and video links for the full-sized replica of the Mach 5. I wonder if they'll be using this in the movie or if it'll be done in CG.
