That is all. I will be renewing my account when it does.

No concrete date has been set as far as I know.

My best guess would be around the middle of May. Then again what do I know?

Cool.

I'm pretty much taking a break until I9 goes live.

They never, ever set a concrete date for when major updates are going live. Basically, it will go live when they feel it's ready. From what I understand, players on the Test Server are still finding fairly important new bugs, many of which they'll want to take care of before the issue goes live.

That said, it's obvious that at this point the devs want this thing to go live as soon as possible, and they're coming out with fairly frequent updates for Test, I believe. A couple of weeks or so would be my guess.

*chuckle*

Yeah, I'm kinda in the same boat. My second account has lapsed and I for one won't be pumping more money into CoH until i9 hits. Ah well.

Verfall

It's almost always a Tuesday, so just keep an eye on the next 4 or 5 Tuesdays.

SAH-WEEEEEEEET

Whats new with I9 anyway? New costumes? New powers? New missions?

I'm excited to get back into the game once the new issue hits.

Loot....

New Hami zone for the villains, invention system, raised infl/infamy transfer limit, new tram stops, new stores, trainer in PI, new flight emotes and auction houses.

Read the details HERE.

I'm definately looking forward to I9, but I will not be taking a break until it's released. I mean, why would I? Defender is level 35 and even though I am 3 bubbles in I still need some 858292859209583927817482395838294839 points before I hit level 36. So at my current rate, I should be level 36 sometime this summer.

From the official boards: Click!

Sounds like there's a good possibility I9 will go live on Tuesday, May 1st.

I have to admit, I'm still a little worried. This update has the potential to drastically change the game, maby more than any single update before has. I hope the devs know what they're doing.

Damn. I was hoping for just a couple more weeks, so I could fully exploit the economic instability...

I keep hearing that, but I'm just not seeing it. It's an entirely optional system. If you don't like it, you just don't do it and carry on as before.

I haven't played on the test server yet so I have no idea what you mean by that.

Just supply and demand. There's a large amount of money on live with nothing to buy. Once goods are introduced, there will be a massive demand for these goods with a very low supply to start. Prices will inflate and sellers will make mucho dinero. I was able to make a crapload of money by selling a handful of uncommon and rare recipies (crafting ingredients). We're talking a total of 300 million  influence or more by selling 3 or 4 items. Eventually the economy will stabilize and prices will become more sensible, but... I wanna exploit the economy while it's broken. :P

Keep in mind that the invention system isn't the only thing coming in I9.  Yes, invention is a big part of it, but with Tram stops added in FF and trainers put in PI and stores put in KR, and STF, and the new Hami encounter...and on and on and on...

This, in my opinion, is the biggest change to the game since it went live.

First of all, you're assuming that people will either like it or dislike it. It's entirely possible for someone to like it in some ways, and dislike it in others- and it may take a lot of playing before it's clear which is the stronger feeling. Secondly, even if you choose not to use it, some of the people you're playing with will be using it, and that will have some affect on the game for you. Thirdly, it strikes me that adding something so different even as an option is in and of itself a huge change in the game. Fourthly, and related somewhat to point number two, it's going to make a big change in the overall gaming environment- what kinds of tells you get, how the people around you are acting, etc. Fifthly, as Raptor said, there's other stuff that's going to be part of I9, as well.

Ultimately, I don't see how an entirely new, completely different additional system can be added to the game without substantially changing the game. That's not to say that that couldn't be a good thing, but it will be a big change. I hope it will be a change for the better, but I don't think there's any way to know that for sure until it's been live for a while.

Xenolith

I just signed up again.  I'm willing to try out the invention system for a month anyway.  I may start a new character on Freedom to to experience/reexperience all the stuff that has changed since I last played.  I hope the invention system isn't a drag like EverQuest II.

Figure Fan

I'll give it all a whirl. Who knows, maybe inventing will be fun? Or not, but, whatever.

I'm excited about reactivating my account.

CLICK ME

Heh, I was just coming in to post this...

Anyway, here's the quoted post, for those who don't want to bother clicking, for whatever reason;

QuoteWe've posted an extended server maintenance window here for Tuesday, May 1st.

This is our current plan to take Issue 9 live. However, there still is a full day of testing / stress testing on the Auction Server and, if you haven't noticed from the proposed patch notes there is a whole lotta stuff contained in the Issue, any of which may break on us at the worst of times. Murphy and his laws 'n such

So, plan accordingly if you like. If anything comes up to change that timing, we will post here and update the maintenance page.
