No slotting yet but here is what I'm looking at for the build.

I have NO experience with grav/sonic controllers so any help would be appreciated.

Gravity side:
-No single target hold?  Bosses take two holds to be held (barring a critical hold).  The AoE hold will not be up fast enough to stack.  You should get Gravity Distortion into the build.
-Dimension shift is a power that will make your teamates hate you, it's ok for a panic button.  Situational at best.
-Lift is a fun power that further takes advantage of your containment.  Good one-two combo with propel.

I haven't played gravity much for about 4 issues, so someone may have better information or suggestions than me.

Sonic side:
-Disruption Field is an absolute must have power if you're planning on teaming.  It debuffs the resistances of your enemies around an ally (useful on melee characters).  This means that your allies do more damage to the enemies affected.  It's a toggle, so it only stops debuffing if you run out of endurance, die, move out of range or are mezzed.  Downside is it causes aggro on the caster.  Put it on a tank and you're golden.
-Sonic Repulsion is another power that will make your teamates hate you.  Putting this on a melee character will probably get you kicked off a team faster than aggroing an entire map.  It causes a pulsing knockback field around an ally.  Melee will hate you.

Any particular reason for psionic mastery?  Sonic dispersion is already granting you some protection to mezzes (hate that sleep hole).

No not really. I was looking for something that may suit the concept.

Concept is a great reason.  Just wanted to make sure that you weren't picking the pool based on indomitable will.  IW would be redundant, not that this is bad, with sonic dispersion other than the protection it grants you vs sleep.  IW and Dispersion would protect you vs stacking mezzes while they are both up.

As a former grav controller I can tell you that although Dimension Shift rocks!, E is right, most people have a problem with it.  I think some folks can't see the effect because they may have lower end video cards, while others just aren't used to it.  Its a great power though.

No, it really isn't. Only a bad team which bites off more than it can chew will ever need Dimension Shift. Instead of taking an annoying panic button, just learn to play properly.

Sorry, have to dissagree. I don't have any characters who have this power myself, and I can only having teammates use the power a few times, but this game supports more than one play style. Dimension Shift has other functions than being a panic button type power- for example, as an alternative to pulling to seperate two large groups that are too close together to attack safely. More importantly, I can see that the power, well-used, could actually be FUN- which is, in my opinion, the most important trait any power can have. That is the object of the game, after all. I do strongly suspect that it takes a certain amount of skill and experience to use this particular power well, though.

The trick is to make sure that both you and your team-mates are having fun, without taking away from anyone else's fun in the process. Any way you play that does that is the right way to play.

captainspud

Yeah, but... why not just pull? It's just as easy, not susceptable to misses, and doesn't cause an OH CRAP when the power wears off and you're not done the first group.

Seriously, there's no good reason to use this power. Just because you CAN use it for certain things doesn't mean you SHOULD.

As for "having fun", I really enjoy TPing my teammates into giant monsters. It makes me laugh. Does that mean it's okay to do?

Standing around, doing nothing, waiting for bad guys to un-intang, has a very detrimental effect on my ability to have fun.
