Some questions about IO sets ...

I crafted a couple of IOs from the Calibrated Accuracy set, and was really looking forward to slotting 5 level 40 dam/recharge/accuacy IOs, and getting 19.9% bonuses in each ... giving me in 5 slots the Damage/Recharge advantage that SOs gave me in 6 slots ... PLUS the accuracy bonus.

But in game, you guys explained that the bonus system only works if I have 1 different IO of each set ... ie, 1 acc/dam/recharge, 1 acc/endur, 1 acc/interupt, etc., which would leave me with less than half my damage bonus and half my recharge bonus (and alot of added accuracy which I don't need in my sniper power.

But am I correct that I would still get the full damage bonuses (but not the extra bonuses) if I triple slot or more the exact same level 40 IO (dam/acc/recharge)?  And do I get the added bonus for having 2 of the set if I use one Dam/Recharge?

Or am I better off taking 2 dam/recharge from 3 differnt IO sts for triple (2 set) bonuses?

Lastly, does it make a difference if you slot melee set IOs in range powers or Area damage, etc.? Do they still work regardless of their names in different power slots?

1) Melee IOs only work in melee powers.
2) Mixing and matching can give some good results. If two melee sets have good bonuses at 3 slotted, but the rest suck, go ahead and slot 3 of each.

Calibrated Accuracy is for a Sniper Attack, and I figured that I could get the 1% recovery bonus just 2-slotting it -- and put two of the same in a area attack and get an additional 1% revovery bonus there.  But it doesn't work that way.

I finally found a website that really breaks everthing down pretty clearly, and I post it here for anyone as confused as I was.   It takes you to the Sniper section ... but just scroll up because the page covers all IO sets, etc.

From the CoH boards it also seems that you can overlap set categories.   So that a sniper attack can not only use Sniper IO but Ranged Damage sets, as well.   Right?

Not sure whether you can put ordinary Ranged Damage sets into a Sniper attack.  As a matter of basic philosophy, I would ordinarily expect it to.  However - I've found that certain melee attacks with an area of effect do not accept Melee IO sets - only PBAoE IO sets.

Now - if you wanted to get additional recovery bonuses, you can still do that.  You mentioned that you had an area attack.  If it's a Ranged Area attack, you could work on getting IOs from the Positron's Blast set into it.  With just two IOs from that set, you'll get another Recovery bonus that stacks with your other Recovery bonuses.

I know realize that by going into the Manage Enhancement screens where you just used to place your SOs, there's a listing of EXACTLY what special IOs are allowed for each specific power.

After getting it wrong now a couple of times by going what felt so "inituitive"  :doh:   ... I think I'm going to start relying on "reading" what fits where.     :banghead:
